What is the dumbest thing you have done during a mission?

Was doing Satellite Communications, failed the first time due to another player using his grenade launcher around the truck/trailer. Quick restart and get pretty much everyone cleared out (apparently the enemies respawn in this mission now) and hop into the truck. About half way to being done and I just squash a biker that headed right for me, got under my tractor and blew up. The "Failed" screen doesn't pop up immediately, so I'm thinking that maybe if I get the trailer hooked up again... "Failed". I felt bad, but then again, riding over those bikers and teaching them that you should use a proper vehicle when on a roadway is really fun.

Titan of a Job: Cleared out the Hangar and I decided to fly. I'm a pretty damn good pilot but I was lower then the maze bank building when I decided to try and pull off a double barrel roll entering the city. Half way through the second roll I knew that I was f*cked but I had to continue there was no turning back. I successfully preformed a double barrel roll but skipped the tires of the titan off a roof. The little Lip of the roof snagged my wheel and blew us up. I felt very very bad afterwards considering none of that needed to happen so I sent everyone a text apologizing just to be responded by "f*cking Moron get out of the lobby".

Starting Crystal ClearOut1 at Mt. Chilliad. The location of the mission isn't far and I can go down the mountain safely since I'm using the Nemesis and that little bike can go through almost anything but walls if it had enough power.

 

By accident I fell off the mountain from the WRONG side causing me to fall to my death. 6+ minutes to reach the nearby roads to FINALLY call my bike. Good thing I always Solo missions like this.

 

Another one around 1.13 when RR was first nerfed. I completely didn't pay any attention to the document since I was so busy slaughtering the incoming enemies. Like a moron that I am I was driving my slow-as-f*ck-that-is-replaced-with-an-almost-fully-modded-SandKIng-if-that-made-sense SandKing. A f*cking 5 minutes max mission turned into a Base Invaders-long mission (AKA 10+ minutes) because if that slow-ass SandKing that is now replaced with a better, almost-fully-modded copy.

During the "Titan" job, I accidentally and I have no idea why I pressed Y, sending me out of the plane.

 

Of course, I had no parachute, either, which just made that fall to the ground take forever... upon respawn, I got the "mission failed" message.

 

Double fail. ugh.

I've pressed triangle for no reason a few times while flying.

Titan of a Job. I wanted to stunt around in the Titan and... this did not end well.

 

Luckily I was playing alone.

 

 

Also the missions with towing trailers. All of them. I either haul ass to the end marker (driving off mountains, cutting corners, etc.) so I won't get annihilated by enemies or try to drive into alleys to escape enemies. Either way, the trailer ends up flipped to the side and attempting to flip it back up destroyed it (One time I managed to flip it back on wheels and passed the mission)

usually trying to pull out my shotgun but accidentally selecting the rpg or grenade launcher and we all know how that turns out lol

 

I've done this too, although I've done another variation of this as well. I've pulled out what I thought was the rocket launcher only to shoot fireworks at an enemy vehicle.

Rooftop Rumble ages ago when the four speedy SUV's appeared. I was walking across the street lining up the grenade launcher on one. Fired it, the grenade hit a lamp post, bounced back and blew me up.

Los Santos Connection. I was playing with a random and we'd already failed it a couple of times. We finally made it all the way through, chased down the jet and killed it just as it was leaving the screen. I fly back to Madroza's house, get out of the chopper and walk right into the tail rotor.

Effin' Lazers: using the cannons in close proximity to the enemy planes. Ended up blowing myself up and failing the mission... The splash damage needs to get toned down.

If you aren't good enough to use the cannons, than you should be using the missiles.

All my teammates died in the mission Titan of a job and was left to do it all alone. Due to my "cockiness", I tried doing barrel rolls while flying low and ended up failing, miserably. I could hear them laughing their asses off at my embarrassment so I just turned my PS3 off and went to bed..

The Los Santos Connection, I was only 1 left on way to the airport hangar, never completed by myself before, so had no idea about the dealer plane, which was all that was left. Failed mission.

Coveted - in a bizarre turn of events, I was in my Buzzard - rest of the team has started the clock and having a rough time (I know, right - but they were lowbies who somehow started Coveted) - I come ripping in like a boss with full air assault - swoop down, four rockets, LZ cleared, pure awesome spinning bank turn to come to bear on the rocket men - get tone on one, fire - get tone on Cargobob, fire..... shiiiiiiiiiii.......

 

My face was red.

I don't remember the mission, but a NPC car ran over me, and I killed the driver with a gun, and there were gang members near, and they saw the gunshots and started to shoot back, and I believe they killed my teammate.

Somebody called the Merryweather helicopter, one guy and I died while killing the professionels. The other two killed them and picked up the documents. They jumped into the heli, flew to Madrozo' house and landed on the roof. The guy with the documents was killed by the tail rotor and the other jumped down so he couldn't pick up the documents.

Tried to lob a grenade over a wall only to have it bounce back and blow me up.

Tried to use a grenade as an airburst but held on to it for too long.

Cleared out the hanger in LS Connection but didn't realise I was supposed to be chasing someone, thought I just had to fend off the reinforcements.

Not strictly during a mission, but forgetting to stock up on ammo before starting.

Drive in with a car with a bulletproof back. Take the right, drive around the swimming pool and under the stairs. Kill the guy and drive back out to lose the cops.

During Bust Out I took the plane that spans and parked it on highway. Stopped the bus and got Gus, flew to Lester's place, nailed the landing and drove the plane into the marker. i get out and Gus gets out and immediately runs straight into the still running propellers and kills himself, mission failed after 15 minutes of flying

I've had far too many face-palming moments to remember, grenades at my feet, hit by traffic, falling just a little too far, crushed by exploding cars traveling mach-1.

 

The dumbest would be a tie between when I first started playing GTAO, first time playing titan of a job with the crew, went in leeroy jenkins and lobbed a grenade at the semi. Took no less than 5 minutes of explosives and ramming the burning wreckage to clear a path for the titan.

Next would be getting bored while doing a coveted playlist, grabbed the buzzard, then got bored of that and went back to sniping in the same mission. Didn't notice I flew over the marker until the counter was down to 5 seconds.

I had a similar experience with some other player's dumbest thing. One of the older versions of Rooftop Rumble. Everyone kills the professionals, someone grabs the documents and leaves. With nothing better to do, I take a Granger from the professionals, which has one flat tire, and drive to Madrazo's.

 

Meanwhile, the document carrier decides he needs a helicopter and sets about doing I don't know what to get one. All I know is his dot was all over the map of Los Santos, and I had enough time to send him a text message that said "You could have gotten here faster driving a Granger with one flat tire" by the time he landed the helicopter on Madrazo's roof.

 

Then he gets out and walks into the tail rotors. And gets to spectate me positioning the Granger so I can use it to climb up on the roof, collect the documents, and finish the mission. Well played, sir, whoever you were.

I remember when I started some missions with other people we would accidentally begin in the middle of nowhere and had to walk our way to the nearest road

 

I also remember some times when playing Rooftop Rumble where a grenade I chucked would hit an invisible wall and roll back to me...

Pier Survival: I thought it would be fun to jump off the pier before the next wave started and swim back up. The only problem was the "you are leaving survival" timer started and i couldn't get back up to the pier in time so i got kicked out of the game
