As a college student who has to be responsible with his cash, I'm so glad I didn't buy SE or CE considering the vastly superior upcoming next gen and PC versions. What do you guys think?

you're an idiot. Not everyone is going to know that SE and CE stand for Standard edition and collectors edition.

I never understood why kids do that. It's like it makes little kids feel all high and mighty, using abbreviations without explaining what they are... because EVERYONE should already know what it means.

How anybody can think it's good value, just shows how terrible gaming is becomming. You people obviously wanna get f*cked by big corporations.

Oh, you're one of those people...

I did not buy the CE or SE. I wont even pay $60 for a game. I bought V for $25 during Christmas sales. Having seen what was included in those editions, I am more than ok with not buying them because there was nothing in them that I would want.

I didn't really have anything else to spend money on so I bought the CE, and tbh I think it was worth it because I love steelbooks and I also like "exclusive"/special gaming sh*t.

It was worth the money until they announced that we paid $160 for what was essentially a beta, a hat, a fancy picture, and a deposit bag with a generic key.

The digital bonuses don't bother me, I don't believe in keeping in game content from anyone. It shouldn't matter who you preorder the game from, after 3 months, all 'exclusive' content should be made free for everyone.

One of those people who are smart with their money, yes. Very few of us exists, sadly.

You people are almost as bad as the "Vaccines cause Autism" people, I swear.

Aaaaanyway:

I bought the SE for $90, and enjoyed the sh*t out of it. Enjoyed the blimp. Enjoyed the cool case. Enjoyed the multiple maps. Enjoyed the game most of all.

Well worth the $90 that I happily paid with my money. Not wasted at all. Exceeded, really.

Yeah, I know how you feel. When I bought a $30,000 car I was really happy to dish out $15,000 more for an air freshner, a cool paint job and a GPS with multiple maps. Not wasted at all. I'm also a smart consumer.

And so am I.

I don't want to get all nostalgic and sh*t, but gaming as a scene and industry used to be A HELL OF A LOT MORE fun. The vibe has definitely changed when it became mainstream. It turned the core into an overly dedicated, bitchy bunch of haters.

Let's not act like there's nothing happening when the guys behind Minecraft are like 'f*ck this sh*t, I'm cashing out' and developers stop making games cause they're sick of all the hate and vitriol that comes from what they have to call 'fans'.

On the industry side everything has become corporatised to the point where the future of gaming is whatever Microsoft wants it to be. You like boxed products? Screw you, have a download. They don't even sell you a product anymore, just a very limited license where you may install and use said product as per instruction contain herein. And what's the consumer's reaction? No, give more, plastic statues..I want the xxxl Altair armor so I can cosplay with my fat girlfriend! I'll pay more. Shut up and take my money!

What the f*ck does that have to do with special editions and day one dlc bonus unlock bullsh*t? Absolutely nothing. But it is part of an area of gaming culture that I don't like, don't buy into and sure as hell don't proudly display around my house. Its not a matter of principle, just good taste.

Rant over. For now.

As a college student who has to be responsible with his cash,

Crikey. I think I was at my LEAST responsible with money when I was a student. I had less but I wasted a much higher percentage on booze. And couldn't remember actually spending it either.

I got the standard edition for the PS3, for no other reason than the extras didn't really interest me. This said, any verions of GTA would be value for money for me, even if it were 5 times the price. Simply the amount of hours I get out of it. The price of a game gets you at most two rounds of drinks theses days, and that's gone in less than 60 minutes.

Dude, I don't give a sh*t about using abbreviations. It doesn't make me feel cool. It simply saves me time typing, and you can find out what they mean by googling it in five seconds if you don't understand. Most people here did understand though. And how the hell are you even calling me a 'little kid'? I'm 22.

You are the idiot, calling someone an idiot over nothing. Stupid idiot..

Edit: There you go. I edited it for you.

In the beginning, I really wanted the Collector's Edition, but went for the SE instead. It was really worth it, and I'm glad I didn't buy the CE after all.

Since the first post someone has claimed that me saying buying SE or CE would have been an irresponsible way of spending money for me, makes me a douche, and using abbreviations makes me an idiot. So since the first post I've been called an idiot douche. Keep it up you guys. :^: You guys are such nice..

Anyway, it is interesting that most poll votes are people who are satisfied with either not buying or buying SE or CE, but there is not a lot of people dissatisfied. People stick by their choices I guess.

As long as you were happy, able to afford it, and enjoy your extra features, that's all that matters.

BTW: $30/$90 and $15,000 is a big difference ;)

Nice try though. You almost had an analogy that wasn't bad.

-------------------------

What's funny though, is that everyone knew what they were getting alongside the game. They're not disappointed in the extras they got. If they are, they're stupid.

Instead, they're disappointed in the game itself. The actual product, not the extras. Or, in the case of your bad analogy, the car.

You only wasted the $30,000 by not test driving the car before you bought it, or you wasted the $60 by not trying out/researching the game before release.

That's the consumer's fault. Not the extras they knew they were getting and happily paid extra for.

It's simple; really.

I bought the special edition and thought it was good value. Only with the box it came in the spine started to split so I just tore it up and kept the blueprint map and special tin case with the disc.

I mean it was only about $10 more than the standard version so I thought "why not?".

Who would have imagined that! You, Son of Liberty, with V's Special Edition.. i am disapointed!

If it's any consolation I still thought GTA IV's special edition was better. I was more disappointed that GTA V's didn't include an artwork book actually.

I agree. The physical stuff that came with IV is far better then V's. The art book, the CD with the theme songs from IV, the lock box, and the duffel bag are much more unique then the lock bag and hat from V.
