Transferring Progression to PC/Consoles

Hey guys,

 

In the newswire post and on GTA Vs Steam page it says:

"Existing players will be able to transfer their Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression to their choice of PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC."

 

Now, we knew that already, so that's not news, but what exactly does "progression" quantify? Does that mean we'll only be able to transfer over our level and character, or do our collections of cars, apartments, and money come with us to our new systems as well?

The money? I doubt it. But they can still offer us Sharks Cards, it's better than nothing!

I would imagine it would be everything but I don't personally mind. I'm not precious about my GTA life.

 

Then again, my character is a tramp - so he's happy to even have a garage to live in!

Someone asked them on R* support forums yesterday:

I'm expecting either:

 

- creates a new character with nothing but same RP / appearance as old + 500K

or

- moves everything to new platform only (can't play using that character on old platforms anymore)

 

The reason for this is people who bought cash cards for game money and/or assets will be rather pissed off if it gets flushed. So it either needs to stay on the previous generation character OR everything be moved.

I'd like to have everything transfer over, but it wouldn't stop me upgrading if it was only my rank.

 

It will take longer for me to upgrade though, knowing I can't take my swag along with me.

That makes sense, and in that case, even if they didn't carry over the cars and apartments, they would have to at least carry over the difference so you could purchase them again otherwise it would be considered lost GTA$.

I have already accepted the fate that money will not transfer. I just do not see them allowing that pandora's box to open with all the glitched money thats out there. I hope they allow cars, property and other purchased items to transfer. If thats the case then I'll make sure everything is purchased before switching over...I mean everything..on both characters

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it will be a straight port of everything.

 

I might start again just for fun though. Perhaps they'll update the terrible character creation system.

I see them being vague and never fully saying one way or another. Swapping to next gen is going to be like playing Press Your Luck.

Still, that might be the best way to limit the damage and get a vaguely clean slate to start from. Although it's very likely another glitch will be discovered and it will all be moot.

I too find it strange that they are letting us transfer our characters so we don't have to start over from scratch and feel pressured to purchase kesh kerds.

Being a guy that just got 8 mil on the bank (again) by doing missions...i hope they will transfer anything but the money exept for money bought with cash cards because otherwise the game is out of balance(im just gonna waste my 8 mil on stuff like the swift and mil jet and then sell some of my cheaper vehicles and trade them for adders wich i then can sell next gen and then buy my old vehicles back(i have 2 bikes and a sultan....cheap stuff)

They also can have my 380 rank and cap it at 120 then to btw

24 hour server maintenance right before next gen release or a patch. Something gets installed that scans money during the transfer. Deletes all money over x. Or uses a time played algarythem to calculate the most money you could have earned in relation to your total time played.

Who started this bullsh*t rumor? Everything we have is stored in the cloud and that all transfers over. You really think rockstar is going to attract more players if they take our money and cars?
