Nippon Update (Yet another concept)

Japan: A nation that evolved from an imperialistic government and a culture based on strict moral codes to a big but decadent economy and a steadily rising population of lonely people obsessed with animated women that will eventually doom the country's fertility rate. It's no surprise a good amount of interesting stuff came out of that weird island, and now some of it has arrived to Los Santos.

So yeah, it's another update concept thread. We had a Chinese update concept a while ago, and since an Asia-based update might not be so unlikely somewhere in the future, that gave me the idea to write about a Japan-based update, and well... Here it is. Hope you guys like it.

A good release date for an update like this would be the 11st of February, the National Foundation Day in Japan.

Weapons:

s1lZycW.jpg
Katana
A classic sword traditionally hand-forged in Japan, now mass-produced somewhere in China. Nonetheless, it still cuts your victims with incredible precision.
Price: 8.500$ at AmmuNation
Category: Melee
· Incredibly powerful, kills an enemy with a single hit
· Much like with other melee weapons, katana swipes can be dodged
· The grip is black by default and can have paintjobs applied to it, like with firearms

Qe4kJ37.jpg
Japanese Bolt Rifle
An old service rifle from the Japanese army, still competent for modern standards.
Inspired by: Arisaka rifles
Price: 15.000$ at AmmuNation
Category: Sniper rifles
Ammunition: 5-round stripper clips, upgradable to 10-round ones
· Slightly less powerful than the normal Sniper Rifle (Still kills an enemy easily with one shot to the head or chest), shorter reload and cocking time
· Scopeless by default, Includes a scope attachment that, when pressing the zoom button, enters the first person view of an old rifle scope

Vehicles:

pgtidnl.jpg
Nagasaki Kogatasha
Everything is smaller in Asia, and utilitarian family cars are no exception. Kei compacts are a huge trend in big urban centers, mostly for how cheap and versatile they are, and you can still carry an entire family inside them. Sure, as you’d expect, the performance is as good as the looks of this thing, but you won’t find a cheaper way to fit a bunch of people into a box with wheels.
Category: Compacts
Price: 9.000$ at San Andreas Super Autos
Passenger capacity: 6 (One driver, one riding shotgun, two on the back seats, two on the back doors)
Inspired by: 2007 Daihatsu Hijet, with some elements, such as the grill and the windows, taken from a fourth generation Suzuki Wagon R
· Like the Panto, includes various visual upgrades (Different grills, spoilers, off-road attachments, etc.)
· Has a few stripes on the roof and sides that can be painted as secondary color
· Performance on level of the Issi
· Can be leveled up to Panto-like performance with maximum internal upgrades and spoiler
· Much like in vans, the two players on the back doors can shoot assault rifles and machine guns

S1tLVgT.jpg
Annis Yutaka
Often considered the first car that showed the Japs could also make sports machines, the Yutaka took innumerous podiums in race tracks all around the world. It also started a generation of morons who figured cars looked better with huge skirts and ridiculous spoilers.
Category: Sports classics
Price: 275.000$ at San Andreas Super Autos
Passenger capacity: 2
Inspired by: Nissan S30/Datsun 240Z
· As the description implies, includes spoilers and skirts as upgrades
· Also has rally-like upgrades (Extra headlights, roll cage, etc.)
· Classic Coquette-like speed, Pigalle-like handling
· Becomes the best car for classic racing with a spoiler, surpassing the Z-Type

KtaK4I5.jpg
Dinka Blista C
Do not let the rather simplistic appearance fool you – Believe it or not, the Blista C is an incredibly fast and agile sports car that can take on some of the most expensive machines out there. Sure, you aren’t going to impress any chicks with it, but don’t you want inexpensive performance? Here, take it.
Category: Coupé (But can also race in the Sports class)
Price: 25.000$ at San Andreas Super Autos
Passenger capacity: 2
Inspired by: Blista Compact, from previous games (Honda CR-X)
· Surano-like performance, slightly slower but faster around corners
· Fastest car for coupé racing by a significant margin
· Futo-like upgrades (Spoilers, body kits, etc.)

bSt6IJq.jpg
Karin Sweep
It isn’t called the “Grotti for peasants” for no reason: Having the speed of a fine Italian sports car and the poorly ripped off appearance from one, this machine brings us back to the beginning of the 90s, where Karin still tried to make exciting cars before moving on to boring sedans and hybrids.
Category: Sports
Price: 85.000$ at San Andreas Super Autos
Passenger capacity: 2
Inspired by: Toyota Supra, with some elements, like the front and roof, taken from a Nissan Z32.
· Coquette-like performance
· Spoilers and skirts as upgrades
· Includes “ray-like” graphics, paintable as secondary color

9Cvh7oh.jpg
Maibatsu Jiro
In one of the darkest days of our nation, kids brainwashed by their government to believe in fighting for the honor of their country bombarded our innocent men and women, forever scarring our memories. Now that the war is over, you can show those lousy Nips what America is made of by getting the weapon that leaded the assault, the Jiro: A World War II fighter, specifically conceived for airstrikes and suicidal kamikaze attacks!
Category: Airplanes
Price: 800.000$ in Warstock Cache & Carry
Passenger capacity: 1
Inspired by: Mitsubishi A6M Zero
· Fastest propeller plane in the game, speed in-between the Miljet and the Shamal
· Includes two machine guns with minigun rounds, like the Annihilator and the Buzzard
· Can drop guided bombs, much like the ones in Trevor’s smuggling missions

Clothing:

A variety of Japan-inspired clothing is available, based on outfits from feudal times to modern times. For purchase in clothing shops. This includes:
· Numerous different kimonos
· Numerous different keikogis
· Pre-war (Imperial Forces) and post-war (Self-Defense Forces) Japanese Army uniforms
· High school uniforms
· Samurai armors

Also, just for the hell of it:
· Masks from Princess Robot Bubblegum Characters

Extras:

  • Races featuring the new vehicles and deathmatches featuring the new weapons
  • Rising sun parachute
  • To allow for easier acess to the Jiro, the gang attacks in airstrips are finally removed
  • The unreleased episode of Princess Robot Bubblegum (One is mentioned in the credits, never seen in the game) now airs on television like other shows

A Nippon DLC needs to have a selection of the width of Japan, so the selection is fair, you could pick two of any popular JDM car and it'd work. S30 though.. please.

Kei Car seems great (would love multiple vehicles in this grouping), but considering there is already an (apparently significant) Korean population, I'm thinking they would go for that nationality first.

As for the weapon, seems like the rifle would be a slight bit faster than the Musket with the option for a scope. Aren't there any "unique" Japanese weapons like the "Katana" (which, for insta-kill on each hit, is way OP; I'd expect something like that to cost real $$$) that can be used instead of an older bolt-rifle? Say the Type 99 LMG with Bayonet and a unique (and longer reach) melee animation for the bayonet in close-quarters, instead of that elbow slug. Perhaps have it as a "charge" option? Hold down reload (or something) and you charge ahead with the rifle's bayonet.

Where's my Skyline?!

There's already 3 "Skylines" in the game, the 4 door GC10, R35 GT-R, and the R32/Stagea combo thing, that's enough.

I would actually buy cash cards for a Zero with working guns though!

If they put samurai armor, katanas, and gis in this game, they would need to add a couple of "silent assassination" sneak up behind someone type things... I'd love to be able to sneak up behind random npc's and throw a hadaka jime on them...

want to make it really cool? when the samurai armor is equipped and the character chooses the easy way out, he performs seppuku... also would love to see a shinobi shozoku costume that takes you off the map, similar to Lester's ability...

or an updated fight mechanic that would allow you to block a katana strike of you also have one equipped...
