Good sports gone?

Killing players doesn't get you put into bad sport...red dotted players are just aggressive players who have done some damage recently...they're not "bad sports", they're just free with their weaponry.

It doesn't? Why does the GTA Online wiki state otherwise then?

http://gta.wikia.com/Mental_State

Did you even read that yourself, or did you just fail to understand what it says?

->

There is no need to respond to me in a hostile tone. When you signed up for these forums you agreed upon terms that include no hostility towards others. Now, if you would like to talk to me like a civilized person and discuss with me what problems you have with my statements, that is fine. However, if you do not wish to do so then I will not interact with you because a person who does not want to discuss things in a civil manner is not civil and therefore an animal.

Now, before posting the question earlier I already read the article. It states - as you can read - the following:

Performing aggressive actions, such as killing other players or harming pedestrians, will cause your blip to transition from white to red

The only exception being:

Killing a player with a white blip increases your mental state more than if you kill a player with a red blip, however killing a full-red player will not increase your mental state.

Now, is there something I am misunderstanding (or possibly - you are misunderstanding) here?

You only get bad sport points for blowing up pv's, getting reported, getting kicked out of or quitting missions frequently. The mental state meter IS NOT a determining factor that contributes to bad sport points it is merely a meter that tells how hostile an individual is or might be (and not a good meter at that as white dots can still be hostile)...yes you did misunderstand. The topic of discussion is bad sport and not mental state.

Also wiki is often wrong or misleading because anyone can contribute to one.

http://www.ign.com/wikis/gta-5/Bad_Sports

The main known factors that contribute to Bad Sport status:

  • Destroying other player's personal Vehicles appears to be a key factor in being designated a bad sport. While killing a character appears to be penalty-free, wrecking cars owned by other players is an easy way to get blacklisted.
  • Dropping from Jobs mid-mission is a sure-fire way to get labeled a bad sport. Rage-quitting or stepping out of online matches has a direct negative effect on your sporting status.
  • Getting reported for annoying players and griefing.
  • Getting voted out of Jobs.

The first Bad Sport designation reportedly lasts two days with subsequent banishments increasing duration of time in bad sport lobbies.

The opposite of a GTA Online Bad Sport is a Good Sport who gains a reputation for fair play and relative courtesy. Good Sports will also receive cash rewards and discounts periodically for their behavior.

The very first line on IGN's wiki is misleading

Players who consistently drop from Jobs or perform other unsanctioned mayhem in GTA Online quickly find themselves labeled as Bad Sports.

It does clarify things but if you only read part of it you will be ill informed.

Haha, o my. You need to loosen up dude.

I always find it hilarious when poeple get all high and mighty in their efforts to look better than others and they fail entirely because they have no idea what they're talking about. And that wasn't hostile man, it was a funny reply to your obvious misunderstanding of how bad sport works.

Good luck though, if that's how you respond to a simple smart ass remark, then you've definitely come to the right place

In terms of lobbies, as was pointed out above, there are two kinds of lobbies: (1) Bad sport lobbies full of assholes, and (2) regular public lobbies full of assholes. :p

More like: (1) Bad sport lobbies full of stupid assholes, who don't know how to avoid bad sports lobby and (2) regular public lobbies full of assholes who have found a way to avoid bad sports lobby. :p

Since I'm an elder in the AssFamily, I will give the secret.

Only blow up supers. Once you get a person out of their super and kill them a few times on foot, they quickly find something better to do or another session. It's hard to call More's when you're getting blasted repeatedly.

Yeaaaaaah, I REALLY don't care about that...I made my point. Mental state and killing people has no repercussion, and doesn't contribute to being labeled a bad sport or being put in the bad sport lobbies. I get the feeling you didn't start playing until after mental state was implemented or you'd be able to discern the difference.

I'm not a fan of being shot for no reason in free roam, and as such I don't kill others in free roam on a regular basis (unless they aim a gun).

But I hate crybaby posts (I'll be offensive since everyone else is). You carry around a giant stash of weapons in a free world environment. Of course you'll shoot people and get shot at.

I've had friends who stopped playing because 'people kept killing them' and my first thought is 'harden the f*ck up'. If they piss you off, go after them and get revenge or find something else to do. Why do people get this idea that the free roam for Grand Theft Auto is some kind of buddy buddy play pen?

I would be horrified if shooting another player put me bad sport for a crime game

They're not psychopaths they're just playing the game (which gives you RP + sometimes cash for killing another player).

I'd recommend chatting to people over the mic first, joining a good crew, and playing with friends.

Wow, I guess you have confused solo session for free roam.

It's called Grand Theft Online. We all walk around with a large stash of weapons. To progress we have to do criminal acts.

Harden up, lest you and I are in the same lobby....

white dots are red dots that got reset!!!

believing the color of a blip would change the way people play the game is just stupid!

This. We're secretly all red dots, but have just been reset.

It has come to my attention there are seemingly no more 'good sports' on GTA online anymore. I have been a good sport for quite a few weeks but it seems I keep joining lobbies where even though the dots are white they will attack me and/or kill me.

So does the good sport lobbies system really work or am I still being put in 'bad sports' lobbies?

Hey ass, you were talking about being put into bad sport..."mental state" and "bad sport" are two completely different things. Your "mental state" does not put you anywhere closer or further from bad sport lobbies.

Had you been able to express yourself properly, this all could have been avoided.

EDIT: I see others have put Smarty in his place before I could get back to respond...thanks.

The problem with grievers and trolls is that they think to put grief on other players is the right way to play the game. And the grieved ones should enjoy and not complain about getting killed by them because this is GTA. And if they don't want to get killed, they should either fight back or leave the game. For grievers and trolls, other people don't have right to not being grieved or trolled by them. And when these people report them, grievers and trolls will be unhappy and angry and will claim the first line of this paragraph.

So yeah. Grievers and trolls are selfish kids. Nothing different than school bullies.

i get the good sport bonus every 2 hours or so and randomly change from red to white dot a couple times a day but quickly become red again, ;) there is no "good sport" lobby, only "bad sport"
and normal lobbies, which is where all the bad sports start out before they get sent to bad sport so basically if youre in a public session youre gonna die.

this is GTA, in gta you have lots of weapons and ways to kill other players so guess what we do? we kill other players cause its fun, and its gta, thats how you play. you expect people with 30 types of weapons at their disposal to not use them and just drive around singing kumbaya? Never going to happen in this game sonny boy, you should check out the sims, or some other non combat oriented game if its not your cup of tea, or you can try making friends and play invite only or stay single player, but dont expect to be in public lobbies and not get killed, thats the single biggest draw of this game being multiplayer for anyone whos played any other gta game online and the main reason 99% of players are playing online in the first place.

if anything you should bitch at rockstar for making you spawn right next to the guy that killed you and giving you a passive mode that makes it much easier for people to kill you as you are unable to fight back, they made griefing easy in this game cause they are morons unable to balance it and fix these problems even after a years time. doesnt seem like rocket science to me that to have you spawn right next to the motherf*cker that just killed you so he can kill you again before you can even move is a pretty stupid idea but apparently rockstar cannot figure it out or fix it so you gotta deal with it the best you can.

FACT: 79% of players are aggressive, rest are non-agressive. Usually aggressive players are counted as a badsports, even if they were in "Clean-players lobby". If you want to play with non-aggressive players, play with your friends, crew etc.

I think this new rule, that you don't have to pay the insurance fee if you blow other players car while they are in it, is so stupid... I mean of course you get destroyed when joyriding on the streets of hell named Los Santos.

Lol at all these complaints. I used to think like op. Now I kill on sight or whenever the opportunity arises. Yesterday caught some guy in ammunition. Soak his car in gasoline and waited til he came out. He tried to run but I lit the gas and his far was engulfed in flames. Was tunny as hell seeing him run away from the burning fumes. I then killed him and went about my business.

And for those Zentorno users, well they'll get the RPG. No hesitation. This other fuker tried to reverse kill me but ran when he saw I barely missed him. Sure you'll pay for insurance, but I guarantee the reverse killing will stop after enough RPGs.
