... Rockstar offered the current gen version at a reduced price for people who owned the last gen version and were upgrading? Minecraft did it and Destiny is allowing those that buy a digital version on last gen to have the current gen version FREE. Its entirely plausable.

I think it would be hilarious if they did this because then all these broke assholes crying because they cant afford $60 measily dollars would have to find something ELSE to whine about :lol:

While a discounted next gen copy would be nice, there is one problem still. How do you play the game without dropping $400+ for a next gen console?

Hypothetically they may actually make more money if they did offer a discount. Imagine this, there are likely people who won't buy the same game again for $60, but would for $20.

 

For simplicity's sake say there are 100 people who own gta v. At $60, only 10% of them will buy the game again at full price on next gen. But at $20, 50% will buy it twice. So if 10% buy it at full price, R☆ makes $600. But if 50% buy it at $20, R☆ makes $1000. Wouldn't it make more sense to sell more copies for less money per copy?
