Are melee matches really that unpopular?

i just play one melee dm. Some french guy made it(don't know his psn), dm name is: sky 2 ufc(something like that). He made fight arena in the sky and it's really fun. That's the only melee dm i play.

Lag turns every game into a random, skill-less button mash. Don't get me wrong; they can be fun in short 10 minute bursts, but I can't stand it when the host sets half an hour on the timer.

I tried it about a week ago and it was the laggiest crap I've ever witnessed.. I kept getting hit 50 times AFTER I lost all my HP.

 

It just relies on lag really, and it's mainly random as well. A huge waste of time

Lag + boring, repetitive plus they often have weapons in some sort of far-off place that the creator of the map knows, they get there and then just spend the rest of the time wasting everyone else.

No I only hate them because I get sent to them 9 out of 10 times I quick job DMs.

So it's not the players fault I understand that.

Best way to put it is imagine you melee DM fans log on to play and you are sent to Armed DM after Armed DM and you waste 15 minutes hoping you get sent to a melee map and then when you do, it's only you and one other person which means more waiting.

You would probably be frustrated like me. I feel like I'm on Melee servers only sometimes. It gets that bad.

I mean I'll play them with friends or people who aren't a holes but with a Internet speed that goes from 500kbps to 4mbps, and an ISP that shares the Internet with the whole town it really sucks sometimes.

They're incredibly silly especially due to the lag, so getting punched once and it registering as like seven punches is incredibly dumb. The fighting mechanics of this game are also no where near as good as GTAIV's, rendering them very boring.

The reason they are unpopluar is because of the lag's and timing on the system.

They are random and laggy, but for whatever reason the lobbies are usually full. I used them to get my platinum award for melee and then I was done with them. The legit ones I just dont care for, I think the real hate comes from how many are trap matches with hidden weapons or tanks.

Melee matches arent as fun as I remember they were in GTA4.. mainly because the weapons alone are like one hit kills. Melee in general sucks in GTAV. all of those weapons when its a task to select it and it incapacitates too easily, sucking all the fun out of it. Unarmed melee is another story.. equally bad.

Prison Thugz Fight ruined them for a majority of the players. I knoe I personally can feel the rage boil every time I join a melee match and its due to that user created piece of fvking absoltely disgusting smelling sh!t.

Melee Deathmatches are the best thing ever to happen to GTA Online, the fighting mechanics are incredibly well-thought out, lag is almost never an issue, and prison thugz fight was a truly great concept with an amazing theme.
