Hi.

One of my friends have a problem with his GTA IV.

His GTA IV frame limited to 22!

I tried everything for him.

Game-booster,Command-line,patch,etc.

But none of these solved his problem.

I am waiting for suggestion.

Thanks in advance.

What are his system specs?

Has he updated the game with the latest patch?

What settings is he running the game at?

Is he using any mods?

Does he have VSync turned ON or OFF?

Low :| Bot no difference between high and end. Both of them are 22 fps.

No mods at all.

Both off and on.No difference.

Was there any programs running in the background? If so, try closing them and see if it has increased the frame rates. And check the temperature of his CPU and GPU.

For CPU temp, download CoreTemp and to know GPU temp, download GPU-Z.

That's odd. Can you post a screenshot of the "Sensors" tab of GPU-Z? I'd like to know the temperature of the GPU.

Whoa... I'm kinda confused, everything seems to be right in order.

Which PSU has he got?

Is his version of Windows 7 updated?

Is his GPU drivers updated to the latest version? If not, tell him to download it from here.

How many sticks of RAM does he have?

1:Sorry what is PSU?

2:Yeah updated.

3:Updated to newest version.

4:What does it mean?U mean how much ram does he has?If u mean that,He has 8GB memory.

PSU is the Power Supply Unit of the CPU, if it doesn't give enough power then you can notice your PC freezing and stuff.

I meant that how many sticks. Like is it just one stick of 8GB RAM, or two sticks of 4GB RAM(2x4=8)?

Nah man, GTA IV has been poorly ported to PC, it's actually a XBOX360 emulator, it won't even run nicely on NASA computers..

There are people who got 40+ FPS, OP's friend's PC is perfectly compatible with the game, so I'm guessing something is wrong somewhere.

And yeah, I agree with you, the game is poorly optimized for PC.

yeah, I think this is a matter of luck because there's some fellas with R9 290 like me, they can run GTA IV at 60 fps with Icenhancer 3 activated, but I can't get past from 22 fps, I almost jerk myself when I get 30 fps sensation :S

@kevin3014

He has Two 4 GB ram.

Also how to find information about PSU?

Tell him to remove one 4GB RAM, start up his PC and see if his FPS has increased, if it didn't tell him to remove the other 4GB RAM stick and insert the one he removed first, and see whether it increased FPS or not.

There should be some kind of a sticker on the PSU.

that's right, even on my sh*t PC I could run 1.0.0.4 on 20 fps but idk why but after the update to 1.0.7.0 it took a huge drop to a lame 10 fps, i'm considering switching back to 1.0.0.4 but simple native trainer wouldn't be compatible, maybe I can suggest OP's friend to downgrade to 1.0.0.4, fps are generally better but shadows are less neat and most trainers aren't compatible.

OP already stated that his friend's PC had no luck in running the game in both Patch #4 and Patch #7.

I wasn't talking about 1.0.4.0, but 1.0.0.4 or the first patch, if I ain't wrong

Whoops... guess I misread. By the way, in my rig the game didn't even launch without any patches. It was due to Path #4 why I got a chance to play the game.

Did he test both the 4GB RAMs?

Yikes! This is really confusing now. Is his frames limited on GTAIV only or is it the same with other games too?

First of all,Hi frame didnt locked.

I mean he got low fps with his PC!(20-25 isn't normal for his pc!)

Second,Yeah he got this problem with some other games such as assasins creed.

Try decreasing the draw distance to below 40 and if that didn't help,

then that's a problem with his GPU, I guess. Why don't you give him your GT430 for a day and test whether there's any difference in the frames.
