Idea to Remove 45 Minute Timer for Selling Vehicles

who cares, selling cars is 100% waste of time. go play missions for 45 min while you wait and youll make 100 times what you get selling one car and youll never piss around selling another car ever again, guaranteed, lol

I certainly like the idea of making a living from selling cars in free roam as an alternative to missions. For a game called Grand Theft Auto there's not a whole lot of auto thefting going on.

95% of the time you're getting into a car you own yourself, and when you do steal an NPC car you often get a bounty which can be off putting.

It'd be good to get back to feeling like a car thief again, being allowed to sell one mediocre car a day doesn't give me that feeling.

The word your looking for is 'thieving'. Sorry, me just being pedantic.

But I agree.

Perhaps the time restriction is removed but a cool down period of say 5 hours (in game time) is implemented before you can sell the that particular LSC again but others you haven't used are available.

Also, it would be good if there was more options in the actual theft of a car instead of just breaking the window or pulling someone out of car. Idk, a mini-game maybe if you opt to pick the lock or the possibility of by-standers coming to assist the driver if you attempt to hi-jack a ride. Just a thought.

Ha ha I know thefting isn't a word I just thought it sounded cute. Pedantry deflected!

Shark Cards ruined this game. A game that had so much potential... ruined by pure GREED (as if they wouldn't have made enough money from just selling the game itself)

yes they are forcing us to buy their cash cards to make more money.

you do not have to buy cards unless you want, so it is our own choice to make. also is it not the overall goal of ANY company to make as much of a profit as possible?

really though OP, no it is just fine the way it is and they should not remove or change the time for selling vehicles. to me they are just trying to keep people from making too much money too fast and too easily. they have created a game with lots of things to do and want to make use of that time and effort they put into it. so go do something else during that time. why would you want to play a game just to sit around and sell cars as fast as you can? and guess what, R* already watches that stuff somewhat and people still take advantage and exploit the system we already have, so why make it even easier to allow those people to exploit the game?

Since we're being sarcastic

yes you're right, microtransactions are the only way to make money on a videogame

no videogame company has ever made any money before the invention of microtransactions

also they don't affect gameplay at all and are the best for us consumers since they give us the most value for our money

why would we want to pay 30 bucks for an experience rivaling that of most full priced games (gta 4 dlc), when we can have our entire game ruined in order to have some idiot kids buy randomly generated 1's and 0's while we get some reskinned cars and weapons that cost them literally nothing to produce.

I mean that's completely in our best interest

/ sarcasm

Maybe if they just let us sell one car every 45 mins at each of the LSCs around the map. I'd be ok with that.

Constructive Post of the Day, Month or Year?

This is really the best solution as it still requires you to call your Mechanic to collect a new Vehicle and drive to another LSC or actually find a new Vehicle and then drive to another LSC but actually makes selling cars and being in free-roam more worthwhile.

I don't feel that it is the best solution at all due to the simple work around that would let players not drive to each LSC. I regularly find Ballers and Felons spawning around my apartment so I could steal enough to fill up my 10 car garage. Then I start a race/mission/other activity located near one LSC shop. I quit the mission so my character is there upon exiting and I call my Mechanic and have him bring me a car to sell. Once complete, I start another mission near another LSC, quit the mission, and repeat the process after waiting the minimal amount of time for the personal vehicle request timer for the Mechanic to expire.

who cares, selling cars is 100% waste of time. go play missions for 45 min while you wait and youll make 100 times what you get selling one car and youll never piss around selling another car ever again, guaranteed, lol

Thank you for helping support my point where people say that removing the timer would not be possible because Rockstar wants to sell f*cking shark cards. You obviously understand that missions are far more capable of paying out much larger amounts than stealing and selling cars. My goal was to allow players to sell cars to make almost as much money as playing missions by allowing them to be sold on a more regular basis.

As was pointed out earlier, the title of the game is Grand Theft Auto V, not Rooftop Rumble Grind V.

For goodness sake, can't believe people are STILL banging this drum. Cash cards are there if you want to use them but are absolutely and utterly not necessary in order to enjoy the game.

very good and relevant argument

if the statement your arguing against would be "you have to buy cash cards in order to play the game" or something of that nature

but seeing how it isn't your argument is silly and irrelevant.

god damn these cash cards arguments are tiresome

Oh and get rid of the timer for calling your mechanic for vehicles. I mean was that really necessary?

Op, nice ideas, but will never be implemented because of all the exploits. When the game first came out I was a baller selling fool. It was a very quick way to make money with a new character with crappy Simeon/Gerald missions was the only thing going for you. Then the exploits came with the modded cars people were duping and making over 100k per sale. So R* has put new restrictions in every patch ever since.

As for the cash card argument. R* is a corporation not a game playing fan boy. They are solely in it to make money. Ever since the first patch they have trimmed back money making in game to the point where in 1.16 all missions have been leveled and you only make 100k per hour. Sure you can still play the game only and never ever buy a shark card and have fun. I always have. It has been R* mission to make a percentage of players salivating enough over high end to spend a few bucks for high end items. If only 1% of players bought shark cards it is better than 0%. Internal memo my friend at Take Two told me about, it is around 8% and has been rising with every patch. Their goal is 15%.

As a business they have an incentive for it's playerbase not to make or earn money in-game. That's all they need and that's quite frankly what these micro-transactions are all about.

In a way, this much resembles the olden days of the arcade and we're going full circle to a time when games were deliberately designed to make you lose so you put in more quarters.

It's not a conspiracy when it's pretty obvious that they geared the game towards shark card sales.

The gamers who spend hours on videogames every day don't understand that they're actually in the minority. MOST gamers don't play to that extent and can't make any money in-game as a result.

It's why I bailed once TLOU Remastered landed. Their mp is a million times better.

I don't know a single player IRL or online that has purchased a Shark Card.

Shark Cards are for idiots that live in FR. they don't play co-op/vs. modes & complain about how much everything cost.

Cash Cards are like magazines @ the check out in your grocery store. the store doesn't need you to buy them, but they'll gladly take you money if your willing to give it to them.

inb4 someone says timer is in place for "Online longevity"

As if cash cards are somehow immune from that same logic.

I'd settle for a diminishing returns system.

Option 1:

First car you sell sells for 10% of value, and starts a 45 min timer.

You can still sell cars during these 45 mins, but it will sell for 9% of vehicle value, and it will reset the timer to 45 mins.

Next time you sell a car during this timer, it'll sell for 8% of the vehicle's value, and reset the 45 min timer again.

The sale value will continue to drop by 1% every time you sell a vehicle, ultimately until you can sell cars for only $1.

If you wait 45 mins without selling a car, the sale price will return to 10%

-Or-

Option 2:

When you sell a vehicle, it'll sell for 10% of vehicle value, and set a 45 min timer, and drop the sale price from sold cars to $1.

The price would then slowly raise from <$1 back up to the full 10% over the next 45 mins, so if you sold a car after only 22.5 mins, it'd sell for 5% of the vehicle's value.

The timer and price would reset every time you sell a car.

I have a better suggestion for the One a Day rule.

First Car you sell, sells at it's 'full' price, (Felon GT = $9500)

Second Car you sell, sells at 75% of it's full price. (Felon GT = $7125)

Third Car you sell, sells at 40% of it's full price. ( Felon GT = $3800)

Any car you sell after the first three, sell at 25% of it's full price. (Felon GT = $2375)

Sell times would reset at 00:00 every in-game day.

And before the foilheads jump in claiming sharkcard conspiracies to combat my idea. Look at the recent payout increases.

The timer is tracked separately between two characters

Yup. I have 2 spots in each character's garages for the gang Peyote. Easy $12900. Only takes a minute between loading too. The garages are located near the LSC near the airport for quick sales.

3. There would be a high end shop or two introduced to the map to sell cars for vehicles above the price range listed above. Selling vehicles at this shop would be tracked somehow (to spot glitchers/importers of vehicles, etc.) so the system isn't abused. Maybe even limit sales of vehicles here to one per every in game day.

somehow

yeah right.
