So, is it really the end of updates concerning PS3/Xbox360?

I think the larger player group for GTA:online will still be the last gen console, from what they did since last year, I have to say, let most player down from what they have expect, I don't think those new items can encourage someone to play the game again

but if they come up with a stand alone GTA:online digital version for PS4, that's another story...(if I were R*, I will do this first, rather then the entire GTAV package)

The PS3 and Xbox 360 will countinue to recieve content updates.

Also R* promised a score update not new music you misunderstanding something does not make it true.

Actually ps3 and Xbox 360 has been said to have at least 1-2 more years before its actually phased out so it's not so much as dying yet, but declining.

It is going to take a long time for GTA V next gen to outsell current gen, if it ever does. Iirc, there are almost twice as many copies of GTA V in circulation than there are next gen consoles.

Anyone who genuinely believes Rockstar will ditch the last gen market is a fool, that or Rockstar is a fool. Last gen customers are still a very much viable income market, ditching them cuts out a revenue stream. Still plenty of users willing to shell out cash for Shark Card money on PS3 and 360. It's better to have revenue from 5 gaming platforms than 3.

That's what I'm banking on. The Dukes and Dodo versions for current gen players switching to next gen are said to be "special versions" which in the dodo's case is probably just a special paintjob and in the dukes case, the custom one from IV with the blower and the custom emblem on the rear quarter panel. I really can't see R☆ taking a highly requested vehicle and making it completely next gen exclusive. There should be a regular version. In current gen and a regular version in next gen. I would think people who buy the game for the first time on next gen would want the dukes and dodo as well in their regular form.

Funny how people freak out when it comes to the updates.

Let me get something straight for you, how many copies have they sold for ps3 and xbox 360?

Look it up.

How many copies do you think they'll sell in the near future for ps4 and xbox one?

Certainly not as much as on ps3/xbox 360.

As if Rockstar would just dismiss that multi million player database for the "new" one...

Future dlc for ps3 and xbox 360 also means possibly paid dlc.

Think about it ;)

I'm not worried, I'm sure R* will continue with updates for PS3/X360.

But part me thinks R* shouldn't compromise updates for the new gen, just to be able to also release them on current/previous gen consoles. GTA 6 is a long ways off, so the better the updates are for the new gen versions of GTA 5, the better, since it's going to have a much longer shelf life.

ps4 & xbone just don't have the hype... sure rockstar may try and coerce gamers to migrate but they know they will never get the same sales and they know for the next 5 years they are stuck catering to old gen in order to make their money...

lol 5 years ?? 5 years ??.......lol........i think ps5 will be in 5-6 years

MS have said they are supporting the xbox360 till 2016, after that I don't know what they will do, maybe no more updates to the system, but it will still be able to connect to live?

R* will continue to support the old consoles for a number of years but, we may start to get better updates on the new consoles as they start to take advantage of the power. I am just glad that there is an upgrade path, as with the new consoles not being backwards compatible, I have a ton of games that I still want to play. Xbox one version of RDR please.

I want to do a class action lawsuit against them and put their bitchasses out of business.

Well then, you go out there, and you bring them down! And down come back until you do :)

They've already said that 12GB PS3 owners won't be able to play the game after the next update. Something is planned.

BTW, they did mention new music for the existing game in the early part of the year. But then, they also mentioned heists at the same time, to be released in spring no less, and we still don't have them.

That's right, how far away is the 12 gig from the storage limit right now? If it's still got 500 meg left you know the 1.17 update is going to be huuuuge.

Rockstar said they would add new ambient songs to PS3/X360 during jobs, not radio songs - Which is something they already did. the song used in the latest trailer was added to the game a few months ago.

I'm 100% sure they aren't going to stop with the updates for PS3 and Xbox 360, they know perfectly how pissed the community would be. If something, I'm pretty confident we're going to see Heists sooner or later, even if we have to wait for the next-gen/PC release time.

We're done with DLC you say?

That sure is going to make for a boring Halloween =\

DLC's continue. Use some common sense.

many players are freaking out and start speculating without any proof.

And what happened the last time this happened? "ROCKSTAR PROMISED US HYDRAS! f*ck THEM I'M SUING FOR FALSE ADVERTISING!"

Honestly, I'm not worried what the speculation groups say since they're almost always wrong.

Its business, baby.

But what bugs me is the precedent they are setting for how they are allowed to treat their consumers.

Main thing Im talking about is the state of the game bug-wise, even SP. You would not get away with it if it was a car, stuttering down the motorway all day, turning off randomly, or suddenly saying 'no I don't want to go there thanks'

This and yes the advertisement and delay of heists which I imagine would definitely have influenced the purchase of a good few copies of the game, at what point should an outside body intervene here.

As a relatively new form of media, it is not regulated at all toward consumer rights, but then as long as the sound of tax cash flowing into the bank is louder than the people's complaints aint no one gunna do nuthin.

Man I'm over it anyway, we haven't been duped or rogered for the last time yet, and nothing is gonna change anytime soon - but when you got a game stronger than Blue Sky its easy to not worry about it.

There's too many people who have PS3s and 360s.

Hell, before I came to GTA V, I was on Saints Row 2.

That game lasted for 5 years online before it shut down and that was because of Gamespy. Why are people thinking a 1 year old game which sold over $1 Billion will get unsupported after 1 year?

Let that sink for a bit...

On a side note, we gotta be patient. It took awhile for major GTA DLCs like "The Lost and Damned" and "Ballad of Gay Tony" to come out for GTA IV, I'm pretty sure they got something planned for GTA V too.

They will continue to update it for PS3/Xbox360 and PS4/Xbone/PC as a HD alternative. I mean it's the same exact game, so coding shouldn't be a huge issue for them to recycle and toggle some settings for the high end consoles.

That's just my 2 cents.

*Edit*

And people saying Xbox360 and PS3 will shut it's online services in less than 2 years need to GTFO. There's millions of players and games out there that is still live. I could see the Xbox360 and PS3 going on for another 3-4 years top. Everything is speculation.

To me,this game is dead. I've had no interest in playing it since that last piece of crap they called a dlc. Rockstar walked away from this long time ago and it showed.

Everybody I know has already dumped this game and moved on to next gen or better games. Stay classy Rockstar. 21477_Johnny_farting.gif

nobody said dlc, these are updates. and for me the besra gave me a whole new experience, i am a pilot now.

as long as people buy enough cashcards and the effort is worth it, there will be updates for the old gens. but i do hope they'll focus on the new gens because they can do more with it.

sadly but true, they will never make a game with everything in it. but think about it the other way, no matter how fully packed a game is, people demand more. anyway, to me gta is actually worth 600 not 60, regarding time spent.

I agree.

People seem to forget they are getting more than what the game is worth. All this update and dlc is a bonus to me.

Yeah, heists isn't in online as advertised but neither is all the cars, weapons, masks, clothing and additional game modes they brought in the game from all the patches.

Hell, I wish they brought those kind of updates back with GTA IV online. We are really lucky to get these kind of updates from Rockstar, all for free....just saying...

GTAO gamers just got spoiled that's all it comes down to. Hate it or love it, it's a fact. People go apesh*t if an update doesn't come out in a month. I rather wait several months for a major DLC update than once a month small DLC update.

Obviously NOT.

I find it highly unlikely the PS4/Xbone player base will ever be higher than PS3/360 and PC is a separate entity as Modding will likely lead to better "Updates" than R* will ever release in the long-term so no-one will care what R* does there after a while.

I do agree that the Updates so far have been fairly cosmetic and predominantly providing alternatives to existing content as opposed to new types of content (Creator, Capture and Flight School). What the game needs to stay lively is Updates like the Creator, Capture and Flight School DLC's that actually hit the mark with the player base and are well received.

It is for this reason I still look forward to Heists, it will be a new game play option and not just providing alternatives I could more than live without.

Helen Keller in their PR department is doing such a wonderful job. Hey look, some good news.....livestream with known cheats. That will make up for everything. Even the Olympic couldn't save this Titanic.

Take Two and call Rockstar in the morning.

The dukes dodo fiasco is wreaking havok on the newswire. Someone just posted "if i see another person on here complaininy about not getting the dukes on 360/ps3...."

I love it. It proves I'm not alone. Good job R☆, you're alienating 75% of your GTAV/O fan hase. That's going to do wonders for cash card/future game sales.
