FCVP71
Do you like classic police cars? I know one... Yes, it's a 1987 Chevrolet Caprice in the colors of the LAPD I was gone for a while, and now i'm coming back with this project, it fits perfectly the San Andreas era and 1992, when the story began... After asking Carface for permission and a lot of research I started working on this project. I collected lots of pictures and videos to see how this car have been looked like in the LAPD fleet. Now it's fully autentic from the outside, i'm done with the remapping, the 24 EH Aerodynic lightbar and now the process is continuing with the interior equipments... I can't find too much source to see what kind of tools and consoles were used by the LAPD back than, so taking CHP, LASD and some movie cars as a sample i modeled a Motorola MDT, a Unitrol 480K siren&lightbar switchbox and a Motorola MaxTrac radio. Any help with vintage photos or videos are welcome. More update soon! Thanks again Carface for your permission to the project, the way you made the civilian verison is perfect! RoadRunner71
Nice job, I think you should rescale the lightbar a bit, from the screenshots looks bigger than it should.

FCVP71
The Motorola MDT, what I made wasn't used by the LAPD back then, they used another brand... So I made it: Carface80 and RoadRunner71

Carface80
Nice job, i love the equiptnents, the lightbar lens is a little too tall, if you can scale the height by 20% then its going to be awesome. Anothe thing is the seat textures, you can use the one from my 85 impala.  EDIT: I did not realized the screenshot is from San Andreas, the strange aspect ratio makes the lightbar looks too tall, now I think the lightbar needs to be lower a little bit, just like this photo   Edited September 24, 2014 by Carface80 JJ_Judge
Compeast
I don't think that is a real LAPD unit, Carface. But indeed it could be lowered some.
RoadRunner71
Nice job with the interior so far. Â Â Note how it has a spotlight in the dash. Edited September 24, 2014 by RoadRunner71
Carface80
@compeast, yeah I know.. its a movie prop, but it uses the same light bar, so im just using it as a reference. I hated San Andreas aspect ratio, it seems its design for really wide monitor..... Edited September 25, 2014 by Carface80 Compeast
FCVP71
Thanks for your reflection Carface, i used very small sized old pictures and the postition of the lightbar wasn't visible so well. Nice job with the interior so far.Note how it has a spotlight in the dash. OMG, this picture is gold, do you have more like this? Finally i can clearly see how the lightbar was installed, but i can't decide very well: is the interior blue or grey? The spotlight what you mentioned is already planned, that and the alley lights will be my next updates Edited September 25, 2014 by FCVP71
RoadRunner71
Light blue. The next one is from the Los Angeles Airport (LAX) Police. FCVP71
[uPDATE] After analyzing a few videos it became clear to me, that the siren was installed to the place of the original car radio and they used the D&N Unitrol 480K model with the auxiliary lightbar controll switch, so i remodeled the full control head with the mounting bracket and placed it to the correct location. Also i made a Motorola MaxTrac radio and changed the former model. RoadRunner71, Compeast and Carface80

Compeast
Great job! All equipment self made? This project turns out really impressive. Now that you know a lot more about dem old LAPD, you should do a pack or something. Include the Ford LTD too. People are gonna love it.

DustyRider
A VC version maybe? eh... probably no. That game needs a proper police replacement, well I'm not making the mod so. Anyways I love the SFPD one, reminds me of DRIVER days.

Jaddllw
Looks great so far, the only problems I could find are that the rear shakes a little while driving and the view looks as if you're driving a larger vehicle. Other than that, great job! Yeah, I saw the shacking chassis too after trying. And you might wanna add an NOS dummie, because the NOS came on the bonnet rofl. But I love the accuracy on this thing. I could make it for IV too, with your assistance.
