2 New Radio Stations for Next Gen?

RonaGui

Recommended Posts

Well, let's start by what Rockstar said today:

"Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC will also feature enhanced radio selections with over 100 additional new songs and new DJ mixes from returning DJs across the game’s 17 radio stations"

We know that the game have 17 radio stations, but 2 radios are talk show, in other words, we have 15 music radio stations in the game, how they would put songs in WCTR and Blaine County Radio? What do you think about that?

"100 Songs across the 17 Radio Stations"

No new Radio Stations, just explaining where the songs will be spread, there is a song on Blaine County Talk Radio, it's performed in that Bless Your Hearts show, so it could also mean spoof songs on that again or WCTR.

They CAN'T add songs to the following:

- East Los FM

- FlyLo FM

- Soulwax FM

- WorldWide FM

As these stations are constant mixes, so songs can not be easily thrown into the playlist like they can be with the other radio stations which are dynamic based. So either these stations would have to get completely new mixes (which would take a big chunk out of that 100) or these stations will be ignored and lesser stations that feel ignored, such as Rebel Radio, Channel X, The LowDown, etc, will be getting the attention with a hefty track boost along side the already confirmed Non Stop Pop, Radio Los Santos, Vinewood BLVD Radio and Los Santos Rock Radio.

Music stations = It's so last year.

They should dump that sh*t and integrate external music services into the game so they can release playlists with new songs once or twice per month and the player's can listen on their own music...

I doubt any new stations will be added but bunch of tracks spread across all of the existing ones. I just hope R* encountered no licensing issues and we don't lose any tracks on the CG version.

No new stations, I nearly guarantee it.

Expect most of those songs that were "cut" and found in the files from last gen, to be mixed in now. Radar Love, Everybody Wants to Rule the World, etc. Should be nice.

All the new radio content better come to last-gen as a DLC because if it's not, I'm going to be one pissed off motherf*cker. And so will everyone else who doesn't want to upgrade.

SonofLosSantos, thanks for the info! Some good songs in there, might actually bring the radio up to par.

That's about 134 songs listed there. So judging by their comment of "over 100 new songs" I am betting most of these will make it in. But not all. Generally when a company advertises "over xxx" they usually try to make that number pretty damn close to what the actual number is, so it gives them more to work with and tease people for than just saying the actual number itself. So I am expecting it to be anywhere between 101-110 new songs. But no more.

Considering that the title of the newswire article is 'Grand Theft Auto V Release Dates and Exclusive Content Details for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC', it doesn't seem very likely. It could be just a timed exclusive but that's rather doubtful, in my opinion. Expect the worst, hope for the best. Edited by Andreas

Yes, I can see your point and frustration but it might not be possible. Licensing is a very strange thing, I suspect there might be some songs which are in the 360/PS3 versions which couldn't be re-licensed for the PC/Xbox One/PS4 versions.

That idea that someone had about having streaming external services sounds great in theory, but 1.) That's extra resources being taken up in terms of internet connections and they may cause problems online; not to mention some countries have very strict traffic shaping and data limits. 2.) That would require LOADS more licensing, even an AAA game developer like R* couldn't afford that. The costs are HUGE.

All they need is custom soundtrack support (or a custom radio station like the PC version of GTA IV) and then the console/PC reads music from a connected USB storage device or a computers hard drive. That would require no licensing, and people can play whatever songs they want in game.

Its also important to note that many songs from that list are from artists who's other songs are already featured in the game. I don't think we would see multiple artists featured twice on every radio station and would assume that these songs were cut in order to place another one of their songs in it's place. That would narrow down the list quite a bit.

I don't play the game very much anymore anyways. All I know is there are going to be a lot of pissed off people, this is certainly guaranteed.

144 cut songs... we will get at least 100 new songs, so I bet we will get all of these above.

Worth mentioning:

Black Betty

Radar Love

I would love these! Only a few months!

The PS3 and XB360 already have 240 songs and mixes accross the 17 stations, and an additional 100 (plus the existing 240) on the PS4 and X1 is just Superb :)

After going over the list and taking out songs from artists already in the game and songs that would have been associated with P.M.R and then knocking down a few songs that would have been on East Los FM, we get this list, which is just over 100 songs ;)

Man I hope Soulwax FM gets some new tunes :panic:

It can't, it's one of the above stations I pointed out as being a Constant Mix, you can't just add songs to it as it's one big 43 minute song according to the game, the only way it would be updated is if they were to do an entire new mix set to play after the original, but this would require around 12 to 14 songs, quite a chunk out of that 100 new songs line.

I generally like the look of what is on that list. Lots of noticeable songs and some classics, too.

It was a shame to find out the following did not make the final cut, so I do hope these songs are added:-

  • Radar Love
  • Everybody Wants To Rule The World
  • Regulate
  • Black Betty

Electro-Choc got a completely new mix in TBOGT, so I wouldn't completely call off the possibility of Soulwax FM being updated. Hell, they could probably update the said original mix by adding some additional songs onto the final track on the original playlist, or in between.

That can't be done, it's a single mix, it's one 43 minute long track, there is no place to split it up, it's just one big ADPCM/MP3 file, ElectroChoc got a new mix, but that was also paid DLC, here Rockstar have said they've got over 100 songs to spread across the radio stations, a new mix would require a big batch of songs, where as that required amount could be used to boost two or three other radio stations up AND require less work to add to an already dynamic station.

I know of course, what I meant was edit that 43 minute long track to have new songs as part of the already established megamix.
