That says they will transfer "your Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression" and if you ask them for anything more specific then they ignore you.

 

I've seen plenty of people on this forum insist on what "progression" means, but it's vague and I suspect that's on purpose.

But I find it weird with currencies.. I mean in US the digital pre-order costs $59,99, in Sweden it's 599kr ($83,50), in UK it's £54,99 ($88,86) and euro-countries €69,99 ($89,77)....

As someone who plans on buying GTA5 on both PC and Xbox One, I really want to know if I can somehow transfer my character to both platforms. I don't necessarily need them to both remain linked after that, but just let me get my original character on both. I have a feeling that you'll have to choose though

I would be ok with that. I would just transfer my character to both Xbone and PS4. So I guess my PS4 would basically become a GTA and MLB The Show machine.

So, I set up the kit and I now have 25Mbps for the download. I guess I'll buy the download on Friday...hopefully everything transfers. (Wish I had the certainty a lot of folks have on this but...) Either way I'm committed to the new generation of GTA 5. Then it's a situation of waiting until Nov 18th. In the mean time...I'll have my trip to Hawaii to take my mind off GTA 5's new release...and COD: Advanced Warfare to play when I get back.

Nope. You're wrong. Please provide proof that this has been verified because I've contacted Rockstar MANY times about this and they will not answer. They simply point you back at the link I posted before, which is not clear.

It say's $70.00 for me, I'm in Syd by the way, but the PS3/360 versions are $60.00. Still 10 bucks cheaper than JB though.

It would make literally zero sense at all and would cause a MASSIVE outrage if not everything transferred, especially money. It makes no sense at all to make players have to redo a bunch of stuff over again after spending hundreds of hours doing it the first time.

 

EVERYTHING will transfer because it's all saved in the cloud, if it was saved on the console then yes you would have a legitimate reason to be concerned. However that's not the case here, all your online stuff is in the cloud on R* servers, meaning when you play GTAO on your PS4 or XB1, your console accesses the exact same saved information on their server and let's you play your GTAO character with the exact same stats,money,cars,weapons etc...

Yep, EVERYTHING you say is correct apart from the bit where you say "EVERYTHING will transfer", which is an assumption (notice I don't say it's incorrect, since we do not know).

 

That's the thing with this discussion, and many other similar ones. You use common sense and assume that Rockstar only has to change an ID somewhere in a database table so it changes the platform of all your saved information. That is perfectly logical and I totally get where you're coming from. However, if that were the case then Rockstar would not answer questions about whether money will also be carried across, with a link to a page that doesn't tell you, or by simply ignoring you. They would at least clarify by saying "Yes, progression includes your money. It includes everything", but they don't.

 

They do know by now whether or not they can technically move your money with your rank and weapons and vehicles and properties etc.. They've only got just over 3 weeks before people will expect it to happen. I suspect that this is more a business decision than a technical matter.

 

Until Rockstar says "your money will be transferred" then no-one knows for a fact that it will.

2. it's hardly hard to transfer what I assume is a few config files

3. why would they transfer just player stats and not money/properties/cars? would be pointless.

I keep telling myself this is blindingly obvious and what should happen.

 

I then remind myself R* have not bothered to clarify exactly what will transfer.

 

I then conclude I will just wait and see what happens when the transfers begin, irrespective of what R* claims/clarifies before hand.

30 player Freeroam on online

Better weather

Better Damage models

First person view in vehicles that lets you see your speedometer and it moves too

New foliage system (real grass that actually moves, not that blurry greeny yellow 2D sh*t)

Increased resolution

Increased draw distance

A hell of a lot more NPC's on screen at once

Highways will actually feel like highways as there will be waaaay more cars driving

Lots of good exclusive content

Possibility for 60fps, if not then we will get a very stable 30fps

New animals

Animal textures have been completely redone

A bunch of other technical upgrades all across the board

Heists (lol)

Less freezing

No more or at least way less texture pop in

And a ton of other stuff we won't find out about until we actually play it.
