I have 4 characters. 2 are over 100 and my other 2 are very low levels like single digit low but on different accounts. I noticed I get a very long timer b4 my custom jobs start when I start them with my low level avatars on my second accounts. is it a result of being a low level or a result of hosting your own job?

Purely coincidence. There would be zero reason to implement something like this and not inform the players of it.

There is an option to extend the "Auto-Invite & Play" timer by pressing Triangle (PS3). I think you can only use it once and it extends for another 60 seconds. Perhaps that is the difference?

For whatever reason the timer starts at 2 minutes if your character is under level 10. After you reach 10, the timer starts at 1 minute. The extend time button adds an additional 30 seconds and can only be used once. No explanations, just what I have noticed on all my new characters. You can also restart the timer by closing/opening the matchmaking option.

On a side note, I believe that lower levels get priority when it comes to matchmaking. I can host with my lower level characters (under 20) and almost always fill the lobby while my level 100+ character might get a few to join. I gave up long ago on attempting to host randoms with my main 400+ character.

If you close match making it stops the clock. It will restart at 1 minute each time. Also your existing invites are still valid after you stop the clock and your friends can still join you.
