"Frozen 1.5: Kids r dum. 2015" - Disney

Recommended Posts

IDredMan

So Disney confirmed a spinoff/sequel to literally their worst princess movie of all time that will be coming in 2015... Reuniting the extremely generic, boring, bland, uninteresting, f*cking retarded characters from Disney's monstrosity from last year..

I'v been on these forums for some time... More than a year. And as far as I know, most people who go on this section have good taste in movies (Can't speak for myself, because liking Star Wars Ep 3 makes me the antichrist).

So I know people would understand me when I say that Disney was my least favorite Disney movie of all time. As in, the worst...

It would have been good if it was the first Disney movie ever. But with Frozen, they just took everything that was the skeleton of Disney princess movies, took a sh*t on it and didn't take anything that made the other Disney movies special.

The only reason Frozen was a success is because the target audience was too young/dumb to HAVE standards for what a good movie should be.

It's in their top 10s because it's the only movie they'v seen... And they'v all seen it 10 times!

Anyway, rant over.

The 2 of you who like Frozen and managed to rub enough brain cells together to get to this thread, have at it. You're getting a new movie ...Probably as sh*tty as the first one. But hey.

Just checked your profile, you're probably a bit older than their target audience.

My daughters loved it, I thought it was ok, certainly better than most of the sh*t I have to take them to. I liked how it dispensed with all the usual princesses having to be rescued bullsh*t.

If I never had to listen to the soundtrack again though, I would be extremely happy.

I find it odd that a 24 your old man would be so thoroughly incensed about the prospect of a children's film being released.

It baffles me that grown men (without children) watched Frozen in the first place. However, it's not my place to judge what other people enjoy in their own time.

See, Frozen was made for young kids. You aren't part of that demographic so it stands to reason that you wouldn't like the film--it's also why I do not plan on watching the film. If you enjoy Disney films, that's fine--I also imagine that DIsney films are important to many adults due to the connection they had with them as kids--but don't watch a film designed for kids expecting a strong narrative or deep plot.

To think of an example that I actually care about, I'll use Call of Duty. CoD 4 is one of my all time favourite games, and I lamented the degeneration of the CoD franchise from stalwart FPS series to pitiful cash cow. Now, however, after the travesty of MW2 and its successors, I've come to realise that this is what the current target demographic wants because the target audience has changed from FPS enthusiast to "my first FPS" 10-year-old. As such, I won't play the new CoDs, nor will I bother to complain about the developer's design choices. I also won't criticise kids for playing them relentlessly given that it's all they know and they've yet to understand what makes a really good game.

I'm not mad that it's child-oriented, I'm mad at Disney's expectations from its child audience.

You can't deny that child-oriented Disney films years ago were a lot deeper than this... Heck, even more ...Sensical.

Yes, it's a world of magic and wonder, but it still has to maintain its own logic.

Even if it's for kids, Disney completely strayed away from putting choice or consequence in the protagonist's path, something they'v always done wonderfully.

And ...Sorry to that guy whose daughter liked it ...I didn't mean any personal insult, just generalization.

At least I just got a bunch of profile views because people wanted to see how old I am watching Frozen ...

f*ck me.

Well, that's fair enough. I stand by my points, but concede that you're better informed on the subject matter of Disney films.

I had to check how old you were to support my post; I didn't do it out to judge you or out of malice. There's absolutely nothing wrong with you watching Frozen--hell, I recently watched Red Dawn, which is laden with 80s cheese--all I wanted to get across is that it's unreasonable to expect much from a kids' film. Sure, there are exceptions to this rule, but the majority of kids' films aren't going to be that enjoyable for adults.

Don't sweat it OP. I took no offence at all from your post. I was just making the point that those in the demographic loved it. Really loved it in fact. I'm struggling to think of anything else in the last decade that's been as big.

Disney made a movie for young girls. What's new? What I'm mad at are the people who talk like it's some instant classic for all ages.

For what it is, it's good. For what people make it out to be, it's not so good.

I like Frozen because i like animation in general. So is it wrong from me to enjoy it?
Heck, i've watched lots of animation movies before, and i find all of those entertaining.

I get it if its not for you though. But saying that anyone who liked it was dumb, and have a bad taste in movie, man, you're just being an asshole and a hater.
Everybody got their own preferences on whats bad/good.

I'm a pretty big (adult) Disney fan, mostly because Disney songs were huge in my childhood. I thought Let it Go was a pretty weak Disney song. Doesn't really hold a candle to anything from what (in my opinion) was the golden age of Disney musicals, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King.

Honorable mention to the most hardcore Disney villain song, Hellfire, from The Hunchback of Notre Dame (which sucked as a movie)

I didn't pick up on just how racy this song was when I was 7.

Edit: Also, this son of a bitch playing Cruella De Ville on piano at Disney World makes me wish I could play piano

That's Disneyland. I've seen that guy play a few times. Disneyland as a whole has some pretty good musicians that play around the park. Most notably this guy, and the jazz bands that play in New Orleans square, including the one at the cafe near the Haunted Mansion, which I can't remover the name of.

On topic, there's nothing wrong with liking Disney movies. I am just a bit resentful of people who make a big deal about movies that are just slightly better than mediocre.

I don't know why you call kids dumb for enjoying something of their age.

Frozen was meant for a young audience and some older people enjoy it...so what?

Is it an adult thing now? Just like My Little Pony?

Seriously, Dred. Get over yourself.

For real though, Frozen is pretty great. It's done well both critically and commercially. I think it's a very impressive, solid movie. I'm not saying it's something that'll go down in history as one of the greats, but it's an enjoyable hour and a half with a refreshing take on the message that "Love is the answer" compared to classic Disney.

Just because it's not for you (i.e. not aimed at you) does not make it of lesser quality.
