I'm suprised, why hasn't anybody made a model based on this texture?

I did. I just made the silencer black.

In the weapons.img file lies an unused variant of the soda can. As the texture implies, they were meant to be used when buying a drink off an E-Cola vending machine, in-game the E-Cola machine dispenses green cans regardless.

And the ASCF guards on TLAD were meant to talk but since their voice lines aren't defined in "EP1_GAME.DAT16", the lines are left unused.

As you can see, searching M_Y_PRISONGUARD on the RAGE Audio Toolkit yields no results.

FYI the bottom part of the texture is not silencer, it's the barrel

I see, but textures seems too low quality and the silencer doesn't resemble the one on the texture.

Agreed, that remake is not very impressive. I hope @Lukakion can pull off a better one :)

I found out the Beretta texture is technically not unused, it's apparently used as part of the magazine for the Glock seen in a cutscene for one of Elizabeta's missions IIRC. This also suggests the Glock was originally going to be the Beretta.

This may have been deleted early in gta iv there is no parachute information. :/

Maybe it was ported on tbogt.

jetpack may have been removed the same as with the parachute.

There is no source, there may be leftovers of parachutes and jetpack in the archives.

Didn't Mickey wear glasses?

Okay, well, I don't think anybody mentioned this yet. Or at least, I read the entire thread awhile ago, and i cant remember if anybody said anything about this. The specular map for Packie's polo shirt contains its beta design, which isn't very different— its the same shirt but with lighter stripes, which are present in his promo artwork.

Photo_449.png

I'll have to AI Upscale the specular texture later to get a higher quality result, but this is a small recreation of how it would have looked in-game.

Photo_450.png

I'll check other specular textures later to find more instances of things like this.

I didn't see anyone posting this, so I'll do it.
Looking through the textures, I found something interesting, namely an unused signboard of cell phones in Broker.

I decided to replace one of the texture, and this is how it looks in the game:

I also found another probably unused texture, that, I think looks better, than the final version.

Also, did anyone see the "Laikas" signboard? I think, this is another unused texture.

I will describe more of these unused textures in my GTA IV & EFLC Beta Mod.

Good find. There was meant to be a cellphone store in South Bohan according to american.gxt so might find similar unused texture too there.

I tried to look for something similar there, but the only thing I could find, was the Tinkle store, the texture of which is used in the game.
Maybe they just moved it from South Bohan to Northern Gardens.

Once, while driving through Bohan, I noticed a road sign and saw an unused or cut name of the area.

I decided to take a ride all over Bohan and look at all the road signs. In the end, I made this route:

The route on which there are signs with the mention of this area, is highlighted in red, yellow indicates the area, where this district should have been located.

Interestingly, there is no mention of the "Boulevard" on any road signs, which leads me to conclude that the early name of the Boulevard was "The Concourse".
By viewing american.gxt file I found a mention of this area from Roman, and in addition there is an audio, in which Roman says to go to this area (pc-audio-Sfx-scripted_speech-R8-R8_YA_01).
Listening to this I found another cut area called "Waterdale" (R8_JA_01).
I also decided to make a route through the cut area "Goatherd" and this is what happened:

The road that leads through this area is highlighted in red, yellow is the place that in my opinion was called "Goatherd".

As with the Boulevard, there is not a single mention of the "South Slopes" on the road signs, the only mention I found of him was in Chinatown and he was never mentioned anywhere else.
In the end, I came to this conclusion:
South Slopes used to be called Goatherd.
Boulevard used to be called The Concourse.
Waterdale remains in question.

Interesting finds! I went through the subtitles gxt entries for Roman's cab missions to check this out, and it did not disappoint.

First, final pick-up locations (R8_PICKx)

Quote

R8_PICK0_1 = ~z~They're waiting here, in Hove Beach.
R8_PICK1_1 = ~z~You have to pick them up on Firefly Island.
R8_PICK2_1 = ~z~You need to pick them up in Outlook, next to the park.
R8_PICK3_1 = ~z~They're over in Boulevard. Go pick them up.
R8_PICK4_1 = ~z~Alright, the fare called from Northern Gardens.
R8_PICK5_1 = ~z~Go to Bohan Industrial to pick them up, cousin.
R8_PICK6_1 = ~z~The fare is in South Bohan.
R8_PICK7_1 = ~z~Okay, go over to Cerveza Heights to pick up the fare.
R8_PICK8_1 = ~z~Pick them up from Beechwood City.
R8_PICK9_1 = ~z~The fare is over in Outlook.

Final destinations (R8_DROPx)

Quote

R8_DROP0_1 = ~z~Take them to East Island City.
R8_DROP1_1 = ~z~Take them to Cerveza Heights.
R8_DROP2_1 = ~z~Bring them over to Meadow Hills station.
R8_DROP3_1 = ~z~They need to get to Steinway.
R8_DROP4_1 = ~z~Drop them over in Meadow Hills.
R8_DROP5_1 = ~z~You're driving them to Schottler.
R8_DROP6_1 = ~z~East Island City is where they're heading.
R8_DROP7_1 = ~z~Bring them to Fortside.
R8_DROP8_1 = ~z~You're taking them to Bohan Industrial.
R8_DROP9_1 = ~z~They're going to Boulevard.

Those are for comparison later on.

There is a bunch of unused pick-up locations (R8_PICKUPx)

Quote

(r8_pickup0 missing)
(r8_pickup1 missing)

r8_pickup2_1 = ~z~The call came from South Slopes.
r8_pickup3_1 = ~z~They want to be picked up in Little Bay.
(r8_pickup4 missing, see below though)
r8_pickup5_1 = ~z~You've got to pick them up in Northern Gardens.
(r8_pickup6 missing)
r8_pickup7_1 = ~z~Go to Willis to pick them up.
(r8_pickup8 missing)
r8_pickup9_1 = ~z~You need to pick them up in Downtown.

And unused destination locations (R8_PICKUP1x)

Quote

r8_pickup10_1 = ~z~Can you drop them off at Rotterdam Hill?
(r8_pickup11 missing)
r8_pickup12_1 = ~z~They're going to Willis.
(r8_pickup13 missing)
r8_pickup14_1 = ~z~Their destination is Meadows Park.
(r8_pickup15 missing)
(r8_pickup16 missing)
(r8_pickup17 missing)
(r8_pickup18 missing)

r8_pickup19_1 = ~z~Bring them up to the Concourse.

Then there's this random R8_PKUPx with literally no other destinations or pick-up locations, this might have been a part of the earliest iteration of the locations list.

Quote

r8_pkup9_1 = ~z~The pick up is in Waterdale.

Alternatively, since its audio name is R8_JA, it could fit in above, as "R8_PICKUP4" since R8_PICKUP3 and R8_PICKUP5 audio names are R8_IA and R8_KA, respectively.
So, going by this, you can actually fill in the blanks based on audio names!

The old/unused pick-up locations would be:

Quote

R8_PICK0_1 = ~z~They're waiting here, in Hove Beach.
R8_PICK1_1 = ~z~You have to pick them up on Firefly Island.

r8_pickup2_1 = ~z~The call came from South Slopes.
r8_pickup3_1 = ~z~They want to be picked up in Little Bay.
r8_pkup9_1 = ~z~The pick up is in Waterdale.
r8_pickup5_1 = ~z~You've got to pick them up in Northern Gardens.
R8_PICK6_1 = ~z~The fare is in South Bohan.
r8_pickup7_1 = ~z~Go to Willis to pick them up.
R8_PICK8_1 = ~z~Pick them up from Beechwood City.
r8_pickup9_1 = ~z~You need to pick them up in Downtown.

(lines from the final version are highlighted in gold)

While drop-off locations would be:

Quote

r8_pickup10_1 = ~z~Can you drop them off at Rotterdam Hill?
R8_DROP1_1 = ~z~Take them to Cerveza Heights.
r8_pickup12_1 = ~z~They're going to Willis.
R8_DROP3_1 = ~z~They need to get to Steinway.
r8_pickup14_1 = ~z~Their destination is Meadows Park.
R8_DROP5_1 = ~z~You're driving them to Schottler.
R8_DROP6_1 = ~z~East Island City is where they're heading.
R8_DROP7_1 = ~z~Bring them to Fortside.
R8_DROP8_1 = ~z~You're taking them to Bohan Industrial.

r8_pickup19_1 = ~z~Bring them up to the Concourse.

(lines from the final version are highlighted in gold)

Essentially identical lists. Going by that, it confirms that "Boulevard" was originally named "Concourse". In addition:

  • Originally the Outlook pick-up was in South Slopes.
  • Boulevard pick-up was in Little Bay.
  • Northern Gardens pick-up was in Waterdale.
  • Bohan Industrial pick-up was in Northern Gardens.
  • Cerveza Heights pick-up was in Willis.
  • Outlook pick-up was in Downtown (Broker).
  • East Island City drop-off was in Rotterdam Hill.
  • Meadow Hills drop-off was in Willis.
  • (another) Meadow Hills drop-off was in Meadows Park.
  • Boulevard was originally named Concourse.

If I have to guess, Waterdale was somewhere in Bohan, maybe it even was the original name for Bohan Industrial? Since the Northern Gardens pick-up location swapped places between beta and final, and Industrial is kinda at the docks (water) too.
Also considering how South Slopes was using its final name in the old list, it seems the original fare list was either made around the time they started renaming locations or they didn't rename some locations until much later in development.

As a bonus, there's also unused audio (R8_A_LA in the audio container) for Niko confirming the fare.

Quote

r8_dpoff5_01 = ~z~I'm on it, Roman.
r8_dpoff5_02 = ~z~I'll get on it.
r8_dpoff5_03 = ~z~On my way, cousin.
r8_dpoff5_04 = ~z~I'll pick them up.
r8_dpoff5_05 = ~z~Consider it done.
r8_dpoff5_06 = ~z~Don't worry, I'm on it.
r8_dpoff5_07 = ~z~Okay, cousin. I'll do it now.
r8_dpoff5_08 = ~z~Sure, Roman. I'm doing it.

It sounds like Niko's responses to Roman after he gives out the locations. In the final version the call just ends once Roman tells you where to go.

There's so much promo art Rockstar refuses to put all in one place and it's so frustrating. Such good work by Stephen & Anthony, maybe even others? They put out that art book but that thing is just so scant, so insignificant. I want a REAL, $60 coffee table art book, and I want it to have content that's WORTH $60.
