probably because they couldn't find a feasible way to implement them. They don't exactly fit in traffic, sidewalks are too narrow to the point where their inclusion would be more of a burden to the player, lack of bike lanes, etc.

Judging by that character being fully voiced, safe to say bikes were cut quite late into development.

A reason why they may not have been implemented is due to AIs. Motorcycle AIs tend to follow car lanes, apparently because New York has some anti-lane-splitting laws. Having bikes would mean they would either follow cars (which would kinda defeat their point) or they would need to program some more complex AI to avoid cars, pedestrians, street furniture, etc, while still keeping the game optimized and all.

Or maybe they didn't want to implement bicycles just for some world detail, and couldn't find a way to properly implement them during a mission.

I think the biggest issue was putting them properly into traffic. They would likely require custom pathways if they didn't want them to spawn in the same ways as cars do. I don't think they would have made them like in SA. Maybe more like in VCS where the BMX never appears in traffic but can be oftentimes found parked around the map?

Has anybody reuploaded all of the unused phone calls anywhere yet? 😮 I saw one video somewhere on the site be linked somewhere but OP had their Youtube terminated.

Without a source, I'm pretty sure that's fake. Would love a source, though. But I don't think it exists.

I smell bullsh*t a mile away. The art style alone is drastically different from CTW, plus I'm sure they'd be more imaginative than to just redesign his IV concept art.

Wish that first phone call was used 🤣

I know! In my first play through i missed the subtlety of the hints that Vlad was screwing Mallorie. That call would have been perfect right before Niko gets to go "...I had my suspicions." 😭 LMAO

EDIT: Oh hey, didn't wanna double post so i edited to add this— I asked the guy who uploaded those two calls i posted earlier, and the Francis one about Clarence that was posted earlier by somebody else in the thread, and got an immediate response saying he'd try to find the unused stuff for himself to upload.

Here's the unused dialogue after Tunnel of Death.

It's clear that this had a REASON for being cut. Packie is completely faithful in Derrick's story that Aiden was about to rat on him... And while that's true, he says nothing that Aiden said about Derrick was true, about him being a rat, when in a friend activity you find out from Packie that Derrick had crossed his colleagues for his own safety— and Gerald is only rotting in prison because he won't do the same to his own in his activities, influenced by that. I guess that was why this was cut, as there's no established moment where Packie comes to realize or be told the truth about Derrick. Damn!

Well, there's an explanation for why Packie just leaves you stranded there without a word. LMAO

Not to mention you can see a broken down BMX inside Manny's community center, and there are cut BMX crashing sounds in the collision game files.

But cool find! Can't believe it took 12 years to find that!

Edit: I was looking through the in-game TV and found another interesting detail that was cut: Railways were supposed to have signals and overhead electric lines.

xIPNmoP.png

Interesting, the signals make sense but the overhead wires really don't. Maybe this is why none of the subway lines (aside from the part at FIA and the one small yard) have a third rail

Maybe the devs were inspired by those railways with overhead lines commonly found in the UK, before realizing that New York doesn't have that?

As for the signals, maybe they got removed because in missions where you have to chase someone down a railway line (like No Way on the Subway) one too many beta testers crashed into them and got run over by a train? Or maybe they just didn't work as they intended.

Interestingly enough, the signals from that screenshot are still in the Broker yard along with some semaphore signals.

The timecyc set up of IV is very different from San Andreas, so that's more just a coincidence if anything, the moon though, yeah it's the same, it's used in RDR as well, that texture is a stock moon, here's a higher res version of it from Mortal Kombat 9...

I was looking through some audio files in "scripted_speech.rpf" and found theese phone calls resp. an answerphone spoken by Niko Bellic.

In the last 11 years I never heard this dialog nor ingame or in some video.

Theese are the files:

MF5_A_CA_01

MF5_A_CB_01

MF5_A_DA_01

MF5_A_DB_01

Maybe at one point u could call yourself or it was already planed for EFLC but is unused

Maybe you possibly could of had more than 1 cell phone? I mean you had the phone Roman gave you. Than Playboy X gave you a Whiz wireless phone.

Given how much you could customize the phone, you probably could of changed your answering machine message. But the bigger question is why and where would that fit into the game?

This is everything from gtawiki about any relevant info about the phone.

Niko had these three contacts inside his phone: Cab, City, and Dock.

According to the american.gxt file, Niko would have been able to order a new phone from Tinkle's website online.

WOW Niko has an answering machine. But who would hear his voice before the tone? Or who exactly would be  calling him in order to hear it? Johnny?

Unrelated, but in my opinion Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City has the worst layout when it comes to the cover.

Judging by the type o negative, korn, murderdolls and static x songs they use for the stations jingles i highly suspect that liberty rock radio was at one point in development, a nu metal or industrial metal station

I really doubt it. LRR is not the only station in which Rockstar used songs by well-known artists just for station ID's. Vinewood Boulevard Radio features Black Keys' "Lonely Boy" playing in some of the station's jingles. Where did you get info about Static-X though?

Wow I've been playing GTA IV since it came out and I just now found out about this. You really do learn new stuff about these games everyday.

And in the same way Jim Carrey isn't actually in GTA3, but a sample from the movie LIAR, LIAR is used on a LIPS 106 jingle.

Yeah but lonely boy was somewhat reflective of the type of music they play on vbr. Vice city fm also had an mj song that was used in the id that didnt actually appear in game.

It just seems pretty odd, but cool, that the lrr ids had tracks from specifically one type of metal, and i think there was definitely some kind of rework going on there.

I was listening to the station while working on clip art studio and i definitely heard a static x track somewhere in one of the jingles. Forgot which track but it was from shadow zone i think
