Good news - TBOGT leaked GDD!!! Yayayayayayyay!!!!

Bad news - Uploader f*cked up the archive link

Yeah. This guy posted the title and first page on reddit, copied and pasted the link to create a new upload to achrive.org instead of the actual document...

I immediately go looking for the real thing.

image.png.2d6734405ea1d235edf23c5a49e49010.png

First upload: Accidentally uploaded the GTAO document from the 2000s again.

Second upload: Contains just a single black jpeg. Likely an unfinished upload.

According the description, the document is supposed to be a whopping 113 pages.

We finally get some good food and it's bungled like this. Waiting by the phone and hoping this is corrected, else this is just a monumental blueballing to the nth degree.

By the looks of it, the uploader didn't even upload it to internet archive. Been searching up words and checking the most recent uploads but no doc is appearing.

EDIT: and just as i post this i see the post litterally from a few minutes ago above me lol

I hate to be a pessimist, especially for something regarding my favorite DLC for IV, but it's possible he hit what he thought was "upload", smashed his computer, and is already heading to the border.

Reminds me of the chick who shot her school up in wisconsin last month, she uploaded her manifesto to google drive but forgot to set the privacy settings to "anyone with a link can view" or some sh*t

HeySlickThatsMe

It's weird that the image says "return of the iconic Buzzard helicopter" what return? How is it iconic? Buzzard was first added in TBOGT and didn't exist prior

I have a weird feeling this is fake especially with the botched upload, but I could be wrong, hopefully it's real and there's some juice in there though, I feel like the casino thingy is a bit "too much" if you know what I'm saying, it's like they planned a completely separate storyline by introducing these mentioned characters etc for what would've been a "side mission"

Edited by HeySlickThatsMe

Prove me wrong but I'm calling BS on this.

IIRC the logo is legit, however, the totally legit corporate talk sticks out like a sore thumb.

"blockbuster action movie" vibe sounds like it's been written by a child.

Luis's is also grammatically incorrect.

It's a design doc from 2007 and the weapons are already referred to as they are in the retail version? Highly unlikely.

"the cut casino"? bar GTA III Multiplayer, R* has never acknowledged any cut content.

HeySlickThatsMe

He released more photos on Reddit, although something does not track here indeed

The document says it was last updated in 2007 and mentions The Lost And Damned, despite the fact that TLAD was still known as Old Glory in 2008

Spider-Vice

Yeah... My fake-leak-analysis-braincell is having a funny tickle with this. As some have mentioned, in a document that seems to be from before the DLC even started proper development, I doubt we'd be hearing about The Lost and Damned when that wouldn't even be its name in 2007. I believe we also know TLaD was being designed before TBoGT which makes me doubt the date of the document altogether. The Buzzard being mentioned as "returning" is a big ol' "LOL" too - it was introduced in TBoGT itself.

The way it's written isn't compatible with an actual internal game design document either. Also, Rockstar North was never called Rockstar North Interactive Entertainment, really only Sony has such a name. The information is public on the Companies House, they were never called this, no reason to call themselves this internally.

I call BS, someone having too much time on their hands after the real GTAO GDD leaks. We've seen it time and time again with GTA VI fake leaks, someone can definitely do this for the design docs too. I also doubt Maisonette 9 and Hercules would have their final names by March 2007.

And, of course, the very convenient "botched" upload.

According to the document, there was a fifth Yusuf mission called "Fireworks over LC", was it ever referenced in the game files as a deleted Yusuf mission? If I remember correctly, the game files revealed that only Bulgarin had a mission that had been deleted (something like RB1, RB2 then straight to RB4 for example) but I could be wrong.

Also the document mentions Dropping In twice with different descriptions. There's a mission called "Wonton Destruction", another meeting between Luis and Tony and the triads that ends in a gunfight, just like Chinese Takeout, hmm. Then there's "Diamonds Forever" whose description contradicts Departure Time regarding the diamonds.

I don't know if this is fake or not, but I'd assume a design document wouldn't have such discrepancies.

EDIT: High Dive is no longer Yusuf's mission but instead Rocco's. Luis supposedly meets Bulgarin there but it ends in a shootout between the two, then a few missions later Luis is hired by Bulgarin for the mission Going Deep? What's the deal here? This sounds completely random.

Not So Fast is also completely absent for some reason. Meanwhile the document references events that happen after the museum deal by mentioning Niko and Packie's involvement in Gracie's kidnapping, as well as Bulgarin ambushing Luis during In the Crosshair by claiming the diamonds are his (by that point Luis and Tony have the diamonds). You'd think the document would reference the museum deal since it's the only one that features all three protagonists and is a pivotal moment for them as well.

With everything that's been mentioned here and the posts above, this document looks really fishy to me.

besides the insanely suffocating buzzword-ridden corpo speak that, if i were a dev, would only make it much harder for me to follow or find work enjoyable, there are some other things i personally found odd:

  • seemingly can't decide if they want to call it "The Ballad of Gay Tony"/"TBoGT" or "The Ballad of Gay Tony Prince," using all 3 interchangeably
  • nearly all missions use their final names (in 2007?) in their exact order. the only missions that don't exist in the final game are ones.... listed after departure time on page 25. excluding "Fireworks Over LC"
  • speaking of "Fireworks Over LC," i dunno how to explain it but it doesn't sound as nice as the final mission names. every other mission name is either something that would be a quote/saying (eg "This Ain't Checkers," "For the Man Who Has Everything," "Blog This!," "Momma's Boy," "Party's Over"), or some kind of a "pun" on what happens in the mission (eg "Practice Swing," "Chinese Takeout," "Bang Bang," "Departure Time"), or both at the same time. basically what i'm saying is that it sounds somewhat generic compared to the other mission names. and seeing as how the other names were finalized.... in 2007, it's would be strange if this was a "final" name
  • speaking of missions in general, "Dropping In" is listed twice, once on page 24 (mission from the final game) and again on page 25
  • also the descriptions for "Departure Time" and "Diamonds Forever" not only contradict eachother but also contradict the GTA IV story (which should have been finalized at that point). description for "Diamonds Forever" sounds vaguely like the "Not So Fast" mission (in fact "Diamonds Forever" is the trophy you get for completing this mission), which is missing in the document (and you'd think the big moment where all 3 protagonists meet would be brought up). "Diamonds Forever" ends with Tony and Luis "leaving the world of diamonds and debt behind" implying they are no longer in possession of them, yet "Departure Time" mentions the diamonds being lost. so the way it looks, either they "left behind" the world of diamonds for 5 minutes before getting bored and coming back, or somehow the diamonds were found after "Departure Time" (final mission). it makes no sense the way it's described.
  • in "Frosting on the Cake" Luis "escapes with the diamonds" which also contradicts missions from IV and TLAD that should have been finalized at that point. this description makes it impossible to set up Johnny stashing the diamonds in the trash for Niko to pick up and then having the big museum deal.
  • the description for "This Ain't Checkers" is outright nonsense taking the mission name into account. the reason why "This Ain't Checkers" is called "This Ain't Checkers" is partly because Mori and Brucie play chess in the cutscene. checkers are much easier to play than chess, it's much less complex and easier to get into for beginners, while the mission itself has a full on triathlon race (metaphorical "chess" introduced by Mori) rather than a simple traditional street race (metaphorical "checkers" introduced by Brucie). it's quite literally a reference to Mori seeing Brucie as a wimp who could never compete in anything that requires skill. how does that even relate to a pair of drug dealers going on another drug deal?
  • page 56 talks about missions. "Examples could include parachuting into a skyscraper, helicopter dogfights over the city, and high-speed chases through the neon-lit streets" why would they speak in hypotheticals when they clearly have settled on those exact examples 30 pages earlier?
  • one would also think, with at least 2 pages dedicated to drug wars, that the mission descriptions would bring up when these drug wars unlock. actually, one would also think they'd bring up any new unlocks/gameplay/mechanics in the story mission descriptions in general. "Clocking Off" is basically a tutorial for drug wars, how come it's not brought up? "Momma's Boy" is the introduction to the cage fighting. "High Dive" unlocks base jumping. things like this are important to know (and don't necessarily have to be finalized) so that devs can properly balance out game progression. it's literally the point of these documents - to know how exactly a game should be designed at the core.

i hope the doc is real, and that missing over 100 pages puts the snippets out of context, but the more one looks into it the less likely that it is. the fact that this is a dlc and not a full game would also mean that less effort is required to fake a design document.

This sucks man. Saw the other """pages""" posted on reddit. Fake as a pair of Vinewood... Well, you know.

the moment i saw the page count i had a feeling it was too good to be true.

Stuff like this made me hypothesise part of it could be GPT tbh, parts of it sound very buzzwordy and generated.

Yeah they accidentally uploaded the GTA 3 Online design document they used to reproduce this fake copy. It's obvious if you compare the format

And you're right, the grammatical error in Luis's description is suspicious. Plus, the fact that the weapons are referred to by their final names in a 2007 doc raises some doubts. The mention of 'the cut casino' is also unusual, given Rockstar's history of not acknowledging cut content. Yeah, this doc might be too good (or bad) to be true.

Grammatical error isn't suspicious at all, seeing their internal comments I can say that most of R* isn't too good with grammar :kekw:

This

I know the whole "engineers are not english majors" cliche is relevant but come the f*ck on, whenever I itemized the leaked GDDs to post them here, for every time I had to write "(sic)" I couldve taken a shot of liquor and died of alcohol poisoning in 45 minutes

(Khm. . . I'm not the leaker. But i'm wondering how it's still isn't in that place)
(Seems to be something PartnerNET Build. I cannot enable Debug Menu)

1. From what i see for now. That the Johnny still had he's own Beta idle anims with heavy weapons:

I thought this was already talked about (TLAD PS3 Prototype) and I posted about the walkstyle in this thread but apparently it was elsewhere.
Apparently there hasn't been any interesting finds really (at least that I know of, and probably why it was glazed over so quickly) aside from a couple animations like the walk style.

Video comparing the animations:

Main points:

  • The walk itself is different from Johnny's final walk, I was expecting it to be just the final walk with the right arm relaxed on the shoulder but it is different.
  • It also appears to be the same one used in the "Weazel News Special Report" Trailer but it's hard to tell for sure.
  • Looking into the final game cellphone animations where Johnny's beta idle/walkstyle was found (The one based on one of the Gang Generic walks C or B), I am inclined to believe that Johnny may have had ANOTHER beta idle walkstyle? I don't think any walkstyle matches this stance. (3:39 in the video)
  • The clipping is pretty bad with the stocks of the rifles going into Johnny's arm and the sniper rifle scopes going into the shoulder. This is was likely (one of) the reason(s) it was cut
  • There are two pre-release screenshots where the AK stock is not clipping into Johnny's arm, One of them they just removed the stock entirely while the other appears to either be a cherry-picked frame from the prototype walkstyle, or the Beta walkstyle was fixed at some point.
  • The peds seem to bug out sometimes when using this animation
  • Some weapon models clip into the hand which is pretty obvious (this still happens in the final game)

The debug menu has been discovered for quite some time. It was likely leaked in the initial versions of GTA IV Complete Edition. However, brazilian Joeveno was able to find the leaked debugs on GTA: The Lost and Damned, which was shared on YouTube.

Yeah TLAD Debug stuff has been talked about a number of times in this thread over the years mainly relating to the cut Leila Sharpe Missions and the fight club (as seen in that video), I don't/didn't know a whole lot about the basegame debug menu but I presume there isn't much beta related content in it. I was focusing on the TLAD Xbox 360 Prototype since that was found & uploaded much more recently (A month and half at the time of writing) but It was already searched through on Discord I believe there wasn't really anything found in it aside from that rifle walk and a couple other animations.

Speaking of Leila,
spacer.png

I don't believe the "Crack Ho" (cs_skank) is Leila as her head is the exact same as Sarah [I think the facials work with Sarah's too], and her outfit is the same as one of the generic female lost peds (although one ped has a similliar but not the same jacket & shirt as Ashley).

5741-gta-iv-the-lost-and-damned.jpg

No clue why Ashley was in the cutscene instead, I'm pretty sure it's a different VA in the credits for "Crack Ho" as well. I think she doesn't have facials in this screenshot but it's hard to tell, cs_skank's facials aren't compatible with cs_ashleya's (although this could just be the way the developer's exported the animation) so maybe that has something to do with her not having any? I don't think it would be in character for Ashley or Angus to be "flirting"? with each other considering the current relationship/dynamics & Angus' Phone call after coming down (although I don't think he would interact with cs_skank considering that phone call as well). Possibly she was a placeholder before they cobbled together the cs_skank model. It's also possible that the character (was) intended to be Leila but changed later on and given a more generic model (I wouldn't know why).

So PS3 Version was developed in parallel with XBOX 360 Version, not just ported in 2010? Was the release artificially delayed by a year?

Where i can download TLAD PS3 Prototype? I can't find it on HiddenPalace.

Definitely makes things too tedious. Before they got rid of the vodka stuff completely, they seemingly got rid of the driving back to Comrades part to slim down the mission.

One or two of the unused code functions has the Vlad Comrades cutscene trigger automatically after the fight or smashing the window.
