Grand Theft Auto IV Beta Hunt

Well Grand Theft Auto V has a beta Hunt I feel GTA IV should as well. I will start by posting what i have found:

Pw9Gpf8.jpgWs1kmSi.jpg

zBjTwF5.jpg

All images above were taken from "zombie.wtd"

It looks like GTA IV originally was supposed to have a zombie gamemode called "Angry & Hungry Resurrection"

Next I have a old Wanted Star from the beta period of the game

2xffM4x.jpg

This is especially Interesting as you can see the wanted star is a classic Police badge in the beta. Its also strange That "Dance" is a blank, useless circle Texture and also that both are stored inside a file called: "level_design.wtd" as you can see on the top of the image.

Post your findings below and Happy Hunting! :D

In the beta, police car numbers were to appear on the top of the boot/trunk rather than the LCPD text. In the 'vehicle_generic_police_livery' texture it's the large 53 in the bottom right corner.

Cheers.

Some vehicle brands were different, possibly placeholders considering their rather obvious names.

Dewbauchee = Asstone

Vapid = Generic

Asstone wouldn't be bad.

Given that the Dewbauchee Super GT is based on the Aston Martin DB9 it would have been an apt name. Thoughts?

Cheers.

Darth_Starkiller

I prefer it over Dewbawchee. The latter doesn't roll of the tongue very easily.

By the way, that zombie thing is a cut minigame called Z Ressurection.

It is interesting to note, though, that the revolver was supposed to be in game but cut.

That revolver.

(From GTA IV Artbook)

Notable stuff: Early fire engine; Parking garage is unfinished; Signage has since been moved; No burnt corpse texture(Woman on bottom left is on fire).

Early Soldier's Plaza. Arch above is untextured(Not pictured). Note the missing obelisk.

If only we had that revolver in the final game.

Great findings you all have, I'm looking forward to see more pictures.

OT: Anyone got an in-game picture of the beta Alderney map (the one with the excess land on the north-west)?

I found something rather interesting in the audio files. Something along these lines : DEATH_1 to DEATH_6 , CUTSCENE_LOADING_MUSIC , DEATH_MUSIC. I think those aren't used in the game. I would post the audio files but since I'm new here I don't really know how.

If someone could tell me how to do that I'd gladly post these.

The 'CUTSCENE_LOADING_MUSIC' and 'DEATH_MUSIC' files were possibly intended to be used in situations where the game was not loading properly or slowly to give the player an indication that the game was still running. What do you think?

Cheers.

This image can be found on an in-game phone directory. You can supposedly see this strip of land on a calendar in TBoGT, though I haven't been able to find the texture for it. If you watch "A History of Liberty City" on the in-game TV, you can see some pine trees, which I don't recall being in the game.

em2JtTF.png

As some of you know, barbershops were cut early on.

fcEIIMQ.png2SJ3yj9.png

I managed to find another remnant of the barbershop. Watch the commercial for "America's Next Top Hooker" on CNT. At one point, you can see a building with (what I assume is) the word "Barbers" that has an interior. (

)

Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this stuff, because unfortunately, I don't have access to my copy of GTA IV anymore.

That ped isn't in the game, right? It looks like the fat hooker, but she wears much more clothes in game.

At one point, there was an LCPD Patriot:

Interestingly, that barricade model is still in game, unlike many other beta features.

Nice find Spitfire. :) That vehicle strongly resembles a much smaller Brute Stockade in my opinion.

Cheers.

Not too sure but I assume that's the Beta Police Boxville.

Early Landstalker with a shorter wheelbase:

Early vehicles offered bright tan interiors with chrome trim(noticeable on the VIG Insurance commercial).

i think it was an early mr tasty

It does indeed look like an early version of the Boxville. I'm not sure if it's one of those variants though, it could just as easily be an ordinary (beta) Boxville.

Are you limiting this to just IV or can we post TLaD and TBoGT beta as well?
