Sultan Or Stratum?

I used to like the Sultan in GTA IV, mainly due to the throaty boxer engine note and the ever-so-popular RS version. In GTA V however, I don't really care for it anymore. The engine note is rather disappointing, and everyone and their pet goldfish owns one.

With the Stratum however, there isn't one thing I hate about the car. It's really been improved from GTA IV. I avoided it in GTA IV at all costs, mainly because it was slow, sounded like crap, and was RWD. In GTA V however, it's AWD, fast as all heck, and the engine sound isn't too shabby. It's also the only AWD in the Sedan category of cars, and fully upgraded, it's a beast.

I sp-mp'd one a while back that had the front lip, twin-turbo badges, and the rear spoiler. This combination isn't possible normally, but it should have been.

Truth be told, I had sold my Sultan to make room for a sedan class vehicle. When I learned that the Stratum was a sedan class car, I immediately acquired one, and have loved it ever since. It's awesome that I rarely find people who own one, but are jealous when they see mine, and suddenly want one.

So in conclusion, I'm in favor of the underdog here, and have voted for the Stratum. An under-appreciated car that definitely does not disappoint.

Why thank you for the kind words. I speak for the Stratum fans here, and from the heart. I actually LIKE it as a wagon. It's the only AWD Wagon in GTA V, so hell yeah. Also the front is an R32 Skyline. Need I say more?

Sultans are merely nothing but "just another traffic car" to me now.

I have & use both. I like the Sultan more though. The RS looks better, handles better and is faster, plus I'm a big Subie fan.

 

Was doing the stealing the Titan mission today and using my Stratum, and was with some low 10-20 lvl ppl who all had fully upgraded Zentornos go figure. We spawned in the desert and all took off for the airport, Stratum vs Zentornos, and I still arrived a good minute before anyone else lol.

I really like both. I tend to prefer the Stratum, but you really can't go wrong, no matter which you choose.

 

Sultan:

1. Fastest 4-door car in the game (per Broughy1322's testing)

2. Exterior modifications can be purchased in LSC

3. Sports class; relatively competitive in the right hands

 

Stratum:

1. Fastest wagon in the game (unofficially; just per my observation)

2. Sedans class; also relatively competitive in the right hands

3. VERY cheap to modify

4. Exterior modifications vary by car, but can't be changed in LSC. Mine has: spoiler, sunroof closed (which also tints the front windows), and TT badge.

 

The Sultan has a fairly reliable spawn in the Tongva Hills, on the road that runs next to a wine vineyard. The Stratum has a fairly reliable spawn on the stretch of road where the Sandy Shores LSC is located (Route 68, I believe). It spawns a lot in the small town about a third of a mile east of that LSC.

Sultan easily.

 

Great handling, unstoppable offroad, compact making it a legit contender on tight and narrow sports car races, 4 seater.

 

Sultan is just all around a great ride.

Stratum is no competition to the sultan in any area. If you want to be different sure, drive the stratum, there will always be less people driving an inferior car...

The panto was never the true enthusiasts choice, if by "hipster" you mean that. Well I don't have a Panto... Brabus mod, or otherwise. The only motorcycle I own is the Sovereign.

 

Panto is the posers choice.

 

And the way I drive compared to most miscreants online, I would probably win in a Stratum, compared to most of you in here in the Sultan. As most in here have the "At the finish line all bets are off" mentality...

 

Or "The fastest car wins" mentality.

Because some people don't understand why you would use a non-super and assume if you do, it is because you want to stand out (hipster) instead of just drive something you like.

I can understand that, if your activities are mostly races, you would want the car that works best with your abilities.

 

Also, anyone ever listen to Queen's "Fat Bottom Girls" while driving the Stratum? Got some weird imagery there... Couldn't help but laugh & fail the mission.

Recently I found myself in a 3-star situation and I grabbed a Sultan to escape. Let me say that this is a crappy car for escaping from the cops. It spins out almost as much as the Dominator, and it has no momentum when crashing into other cars. Basically, the Sultan is a death sentence if you grab it to escape from the cops.

 

And now, seeing all the Sultan pix in this thread, I realize how ugly that car is. Wow, just blecccchhh.

It's a shame there's no real customizations for the Stratum, however there's at least some very slightly different "versions" of it.

that's what i was thinking, but to me "hip" means it is the popular thing, so in that case the Sultan would be the hipster vehicle since it is the most popular when you look at the poll right now at 178 total votes, 133/Sultan, 45/Stratum.
