GTA SA, my god, i couldn't play more that one hour, i've played 1, 2, 3, VC, then SA, for like an hour, worst game EVER, EVER!!!, GTA V, so damn good, these guys just couldn't handle that youtubers ruined it for them, but V rocks!!!

SA sh*ts all over V in terms of everything except graphics.

Really? What about physics? Car damage, wanted system etc.?

Shh, don't mention the wanted system. It is an improvement but it does need some tweaking. Keep it the way it is now but bring back IV's cops with SA's "NOOSE" at the 4th star and you'll have the best wanted system for now.

Anyway I guess anybody who played Bully can deal with V's cops.

See, this is why it's so difficult for me to pick an absolute favorite GTA. Each one trumps another in specific categories.

I guess R* cannot put all the best parts of GTA in a single game or the universe would implode.

GTA Advance, but it's only Gameboy game. So the least favorite GTA game must be GTA TLAD...

Guess what I hate the most in GTA:SA?

Its childish fanbase. You go say SA sucks IN YOUR OPINION, the crybabies AKA so-called 'fanbase' shove down their gangbanging thing down your ass. Sadly, V's section is completely full of these gangster wannabes.

Before somebody here start a random flame war with assumptions, no, I have no favorite. Yes, I prefer IV over SA, and V over IV, etc. but I don't have a favorite GTA. All GTA's are equal to me.

I voted GTA 3 cuz it's the oldest one I've played although if I played the earlier top down ones I would probably vote for them.

GTA 3 was still a good game, a great game in fact considering when it was released, but it's just nowhere near as good as any GTA after it with the possible exception of Chinatown Wars which I haven't played.

All the people voting for V seem retarded to me and they probably know they're wrong.

3D- SA, way overrated and the CJ fanboys make me hate it even more

HD and what I voted for TBOGT- I HATED it. Luis was such a gary sue, literally every girl he encountered wanted to f*ck him. And he was so f*cking annoying. Not too mention all the sillyness and over the top feel to it.(I love over the top but it didn't suit the rest of IV).

Advance.

I hate to question opininons, but how do people dislike the games from the HD and 3D era more than the top down games? Do you all dislike those certain games THAT much?

People grew up playing the top-down games, I enjoyed the hell out of GTA 2 which is why advanced isn't on my hate list, it's not that bad at all for what it offers in that handheld.

V is terrible, and my least favorite. Even games from a decade ago gave me more playtime and things to do than a game released a year ago.

Laugh all you want, but I see nothing funny about that. V wasn't entertaining for me whatsoever unlike what GTA II had, I never played 1 since by the time I found it on Rockstar's site it was unavailable. Sure GTA II had less features than V but for what it had, it was fun from start to finish.

And what kind of question is that? Most of those games you mentioned actually have something to do after finishing the story, especially San Andreas and IV, including the need to actually replay the story, or playing multiplayer which actually WAS amazing unlike Online, then the countless amount of mods available really helped push my hours into it.

After I finished V I found myself asking what can I do now? Buy properties? For what? Just to have countless annoying missions pop up with no real variety? Please...

Have fun with criminal activities.

How do you have fun in V? (I'm not hating you but just asking).

- Doing amazing stunts and crashes

- Getting wanted stars and escaping from the police (which is very much fun for me because I think the wanted system from GTA V is the best in the GTA Series)

- Robbing Stores

- Golf is a really good and funny mini game actually

- Hunting animals

- Doing Races

- Hunting people

- Flying Planes

- Hunting animals and people at the same time! eek.gif

- Earn money as a taxidriver --> drive as fast as you can

- Just drive and enjoy the atmosphere/sunset

- Internet, TV, cinema...

That's what comes to my mind just now. It's a few months since I played the game the last time (I'm playing VCS at moment btw).

No surprise GTA V is the most chosen one, just like IV would've been the most chosen one a few years ago. Whenever a brand new game brings innovation and creativity to the table, there's always that not-so-minor minority that will hate it no matter what. In my honest opinion, V is almost objectively the best one.

Anyways, having played through all of them, I guess Liberty City Stories is probably my least favorite. It's not a bad game at all, I still play on my PSP often, but it just felt lacking in so many aspects. It sounded like it could have been a game with time same map and atmosphere of GTA III but with and all the innovation that the series has had since then (Swimming, helicopters, airplanes, purchasable safehouses, character and vehicular customization, etc.), which would be fantastic, but instead it just felt like a story expansion for GTA III, with bikes but not many other new things. When it comes to a PS Portable GTA, VCS and Chinatown Wars have far more content to them than LCS.

Oh that's nice. Laugh at someone for expressing their opinion.

No, I'm not laughing at him. It's OK if his opinion is completly different from mine, I'm just laughing because I try to reflect by myself in what area GTA V can be worse than GTA 1/2. It's just so funny to me. :D

Please don't get me wrong.

You probably never played the top down GTAs when they were new. :/

Oh, trust me, I played them all when they were new. Even if I'm not that old I had the possibility to play all the games at my uncle back then. I remember it as it was yesterday. :D Good times.

I had fun with the topdown GTAs but they were really difficult for me because I was very young. When GTA III was released my mind was completely blown. It was incredible, I had never seen something like this before. For me, personally GTA III was the start for it becoming the brillant franchise it is today.

I understand Johan's point. Al though I played GTA 1 aswell, but GTA II for its time was awesome. If I compared my experience of playing GTA II to GTA V when both were new and fresh games I had far more fun in GTA II than GTA V.

But would you still have more fun with GTA 2 if you played GTA V first? Sorry, if it sounds a bit ridiculous but I find it unfair that you lower your standards for GTA 2 just because it's an older game. Back in the days, could you have imagined that in like 15 years you would get a game like GTA V? If someone had shown me that game 15 years ago, I would have lost my mind.

Back then people didn't care about map size, having a bazillion features, what to do after the story etc. The fun created in the top down GTAs came from raw imagination.

But I thought it is the "small" map and the few interesting features the people are complaining about...

And you can do very much with your imagination....in every GTA....

V has stupid health regeneration, being able to manually flip your car over, recoilless weapons ( makes the grip attachment useless), dumbed down car handling ( MCLA did it better, arcade handling that is), all weapons feel the same. Edited by maxpaynefan

V has stupid health regeneration

What's bad about that? It regenerates only halfway down and you aren't able to take that many bullets anyway. I think this is rather a big improvement, because in GTA IV you could die very easily when you get hurt and you have to go very carefully to the next Burger Shot or Hospital to heal you which was really annoying sometimes, especially when you want to do stunts with a motorbike.

being able to manually flip your car over

So what? You are not forced to use this ability. Well, if it annoys you in Online Mode, then I understand you. But in SP? Just don't use it, if you don't like. It's very easy.

dumbed down car handling ( MCLA did it better, arcade handling that is)

It's not dumbed down, it's just more dynamic. I feel like I can drive much faster than in GTA IV. Car chases are more fun therefore, in my opinion.

all weapons feel the same.

Ever play RDR, V should've had an inventory system with health packs, circle radar with health and armor bars around it, GTA 4 or TBOGT car handling that way customizing cars is actually usefull, crap car damage( why put armor if car damage sucks ass), stupid special abilities ( It should've been like IV), guns felt different from each other in other R* games. SA sh*ts all over V in terms of everything except graphics.THIS, THIS & THIS!!!!!!!

Common sense, and not hard to understand for even a kid to see the difference.

It's extremely rare to come across a game like GTA SA, packed with so much fun and content, literally they crammed everything like crazy, giving the players full advantage of the open world sandbox.

Single player was simply fantastic.

Even now, years later, I still consider as one of the best game in the GTA series.

It's not hard to see why. GTA SA was as ambitious as GTA V, for it's time.

But, unlike GTA SA, Rockstar didn't put that amount of love and caring into this game called GTA V, simply because of the shifted focus from the single player, and casualizing the game to cash in on the wider market of online kids and new players, because Rockstar understands that there's a huge crowd out there, who welcome the developers decision to believe that they are idiots with no taste for quality content, and it's enough to satisfy them with drool-worthy graphics, poor difficulty and impressive details.

The end result is a huge waste of opportunity of sandbox gaming despite the potential. Moreover, introducing GTA:O with an absolutely large amount of options and side tasks, and god knows what hundreds of other things are planned for future.

Though, I understand the business side of multi-player gaming, but what I don't accept are the cuts and toned down appeal in the single-player game.

That's another reason where Rockstar really fails to do a commendable job with V.

Both SA and V had hardware constraints, but SA's gameplay has something that will make you want to go back.

However, GTA SA is still an old game which may not appeal now, esp. after so many years, and new players of modern gaming won't like to spend extensive hours behind playing.

It's completely fine. I understand about the flaws this game has, and also appreciate all the technical improvements GTA V brought.

But, speaking about the core GTA experience, GTA SA did a lot, a lot of things right, "for it's time" than GTA V couldn't even take it further, let alone give a sweet surprise to the fans, similar on SA release.
