Arrows to Athens

I'm glad everything is expensive. Makes people work for things.

The game would be boring if everything was so cheap. The Z Type should be how it is in SP, but it isn't.

This.

As for ammo, they made them overpriced on purpose to stop the RPG spamming and such. Plus, not everything in SP is way cheaper than online.

SP - Tank - 3,000,000.

MP - Tank - 1,500,000.

SP - Z-Type - 10,000,000.

MP - Z-Type - 800k?

Should I go on?

950k. TBH the Z type should be one million.

You forget how hard it is to make money in single player. Only heist make decent money. Then properties which are only useful after the game is finished.

Aside from cash cards and prices.

GTAO is overall a watered down version of GTAV.

Playing story mode again here are the things I noticed.

-There is more pedestrians offline.

-There are more trees and objects offline.

-There are animals offline.

-No animals also means, hunting is removed online.

-There are more game modes offline like scuba diving and marathons that's been cut online.

-There are properties where you can generate revenue.

-There are cut cars from offline, including the FIB and Police Buffalo.

-All nude NPCs in various areas, had been removed online.

And other small stuff that's missing or been cut from online.

I wish a lot of these were added online. Especially animals. It would be cool if we were able to own dogs or shoot up some coyotes in Blaine County.

I also feel like GTAO is lacking life. Maybe its because of load issues, but it feels like there's less active pedestrians compared to GTAV.

But that's just me.

it might just be me but it looks like the days are brighter in story mode then mp

Yep. But you still can make billions in SP if you know how to use the Stock Market after some certain missions. But since not so many people know how, its kinda useless.

SP: cash is hard to come by once everything is complete.

stock market: most humans do not use this IRL. less use it in GTA.

properties: golf course is the only property that pays well.

MP: go passive, walk around a PvP, pick up dropped cash.

it's that EASY to make cash online.

SALO or The 120 Days Of Sodom

lets forget cash cards don't exist for a second and i'll say its because of heists.. (in reality, they don't exist yet). depending on their payout---im betting they'll be as high as the first heist in game..

It's to increase playability...no one would still be playing online if everything was $10! You've got to work hard (or glitch, I suppose) to get the stuff you want, which is what keeps you playing. If prices were low, very few people would still be playing :p

Edit: Although I admit in some circumstances, R* milk it a little, for example the $50k flightsuit (wtf?) and $20k - $50k masks...but then that's stuff that you can easily go without.

High prices for explosives are meant to deter people from spamming them. You're a lot less likely to spend an entire session blowing sh*t up if it costs you an arm and a leg every time you do.

I thought this thread was going to talk about the differences between the two.. Ohh well.

I just started a legit character with my millions stashed on my main. Money really isn't an issue as long as you're conservative and buy things you need instead of spoiling yourself. I only have 469k and I'm at level 37, but I have max ammo and a small number of attachments on my guns, Richards Majestic 51, and an Elegy with two cosmetic upgrades. Lol, the legit struggle really sucks, but as long as you're not stupid with your money, you can maintain a fair amount.

Me too,.

I was going to be an ass and post something retarded like "I like how it lets me play with other people".

Yeah that is true.

When a popular glitch (Hooker Glitch etc) is rampant, you'll notice that the use of RPG's in Deathmatches and Free Roam changes. Also sticky bombs like candy. If these were cheap, it'd be like that all the time.

its so you wouldnt just have everything right off the bat

but with how rockstar designed job payouts, it feels like its catered to increasing cash card sales

Pretty much this. It's designed for both the longevity of the online experience and also to push cash cards. If you were able to do missions and buy every plane, car or boat in the game you would probably be pretty bored with the game after the first or second month.

If you're accurate with the buzzard you can pretty much continuously spam rockets at players for free. As long as they are in their car you don't get bad sport or pay for their vehicle.

nope cuz that's exactly what I did with all the billions of glitched money and it has only increased the fun I'm having XD

SP:

-Animals

-More Pedestrians and Traffic

-Character development through story missions, dialogue

-Strangers and freaks

-Random Encounters

-Many More Interiors

-Favorably price variations

-No (at least for me) rendering issues

-Better graphics (could be my imagination)

MP:

-Multiple players

-Pegasus and Mors Mutual

-Better vehicle tracking

-Better and more vehicle storage

-Easier to make money

FINAL SCORE: MP 5-9 SP

Overall I think as an actual game the multiplayer flows better. I hate having my million dollar, brand new car vanish off the face of the earth because I fly through a windshield and wake up in the hospital, but in multiplayer I miss the little things like flying through the windshield and waking up in the hospital.

Talking of the stock market, what's going on with the BAWSAQ? Prices have been dead in SP for a couple of weeks. I've got billions sunk into Hawk & Little and nothing, pretty much always had 100% profit in the space of a few days

I am a legit Billionaire on all 3 SP Characters as a lot of people probably are so SP prices are pointless to compare to Online. SP is incredibly difficult to earn money after the final Heist and properties take forever to pay themselves back. Unless you played the stock market right you will never be able to afford everything. Online you may, it will just take ages.

Either way the Online prices are ridiculous and completely unjustifiable in most instances. Do not get me started on the fact that once you Purchase a certain Car Paint Job or any car feature, it will not be Free in the future as is the case with Weapon Tints/Accessories which are comparable in price at times...

Cash cards. Partly for balance, but almost completely cash cards. In GTA:IV money had no major purpose, and everything you could buy with it was cheap.

Yep, it would have been awesome with properties around Blaine County with 10 slot garages and animals roaming. One could truly live the country life, own a few pick up trucks and shoot coyotes while drinking a few Pißwassers with some friends at nightfall.

Not gonna happen. And even if animals and 10 car garages would be introduced in Blaine County, the area is too small to feel like something other than a small piece of the map transformed into a desert. Unless GTA V on nextgen has an altered map, the game is still gonna have flaws concerning the map. Now, compare it to GTA SA for PS2, even though graphics werent as good, you did get that country side feeling when leaving any of the major cities! There were even several small countryside towns the size of Paleto Bay!

GTA V singleplayer is a much better product than Online.

Singleplayer, worth the sixty dollars

Online, not worth the sixty dollars.

Says Online isn't worth the $60.

Is actually a free service that Rockstar provides.

Has enough passion about the service to post on a forum dedicated to GTA Online.

Seriously, if Online isn't a good product, don't play it. The door is right over there.

Online acces isnt a right. It's a privilege.

Say what you will, but Rockstar have done a tremendous job repairing the mess from October.

I also think that some things are too cheap. So here is an extensive list of some items.

Sticky bombs, the griefers paradise. Too cheap.

The supercars are far too cheap to be exotic and rare. Same goes for limited production Sports Classics.

I would expect the Zentorno (Sesto Elemento) to be at least $2,000,000.

The Cheetah, for a concept car, is not expensive.

The Z-Type. Only 10 were made. Come on, make it $30,000,000.

Bikes are too cheap. The Ruffian (Ducati Monster), I've seen go for $25,000. Crotch rockets will easily outdo any vehicle with four wheels in this game.

There's too much to list, but you get the idea.

Right, now Pegasus vehicles.

The Buzzard, a lightly armored attack helicopter complete with missile guidance systems and dual chain guns, only $1,750,000????

That's not right.

Don't even get me started on the tank that can be driven in a built up area.

The insurance for high end cars should be sky-high. This could only work in passive lobbies though. Because little kids could get away with anything or another player will have their money drained.

Why is everything so much more expensive in online vs storymode? 5k for grenade launcher ammo vs 500$ in story mode. Why is it that we get cheap looking clothes or not enough clothes we want clothes that franklin has and we dont get earrings face bandanas and everything overall is way to expensive one mission pays out ammo for one gun or one modification for your car

I'll skip past all the people who will have said "cash cards" and give you the real reason: Money is far more limited in Story mode because your income is tied to story progression - ie you can only be so rich at any given point in the story.

So if the prices were the same as Online, the protags would have to pretty much finish the game before they could afford a decent gun and a modded car.

In Online, there are infinite money sources - so long as you're completing jobs, you're making money, even if you repeat them. So things have to be more expensive there otherwise everyone would be able to afford everything before they were Rank 20. It's the common MMO "money sink" model - you see it in every MMO, where there are frivolous, stupidly-expensive items that are designed specifically to use up your resources. Your leet epeen master race types generally put a lot of stock in acquiring such items as soon as possible so they can strut around showing off how awesome they are.

In GTA Online, pretty much everything is a money sink - cars, DLC items, weapons. The biggest one of all is Ammo - go check out your stats and get ready to deem excrement sacred when you see the percentage of your spending that goes on bullets. Kind of makes that $175 a day for your garage upkeep a bit of a joke. Of course the absolute kings of the money sink are Warstock and Pegasus - all those things, every one of those unarmed vehicles is there for no other reason than to give us something to spend our millions on, so that we keep playing to earn more.

Cash cards are not actually R*'s preferred method of playing - I mean, yes, they'll take every cent we're prepared to give them for shortcuts, and smile while they do it, but what they really, really want is every human on Earth playing GTA 24/7.

@ Honeybadger

The reason for the cheap prices for the Buzzard, Z-type, Rhino Tank (given what they actually are and exclusivity) is so people actually feel motivated to play the game and do not feel like it will take them months (or years) to purchase a single item. Also, if they were more expensive, Cash Cards would need to give more GTA$ as a 30 million GTA$ price tag is over $350 AUD worth of Cash Cards!

We need exclusivity through level unlocks since this rewards players who have actually invested time playing the game (irrespective of playing style as for the same rank your GTA$ earned could vary significantly) and viable RP exploits (that will not result in a perma ban) are virtually non existent so nearly all players would have a legitimate rank.

OP you forgot a question mark at the end of your long second sentence.

Goodies are not overpriced at all in the online part of gta. Most people don't have the problem with buying things, as long as you play the game the way it was intended. FreeRoam Warriors will always complain as freeroam is expensive, a bullet can cost you 2 bucks or it can bring you 1 buck. Choice is yours. Are you a FreeRoam Warrior OP?
