Unrelated, but liked the damage in IV a lot better than IV.

IV = crash into the wall with a speeding Sabre & enjoy driving with 3 wheels, if alive.

V = crash into the wall with a speeding Adder and... nothing happens.

The cars feel like toys in V & drive around corners like some miniature RC cars with Formula One speed. In IV they felt heavy, and you could really cause some damage with a fast Hummer. In V? You could crash a Panto 100 times, it would still drive.

It's not that GTA V's crashing is more forgiving than GTA IV's, It's that GTA V added upgrades that counter it (armor and bulletproof tires) and some effects are turned off in multiplayer. GTA V's effects are much harsher than GTA IV's. People don't notice however because most of their time is likely in Online with their own personal car. Drive recklessly in Story Mode and your car or yourself won't make it out.

It definitely is. Of course there is a difference between your personal car in Online & a random car in Singleplayer. But still... compare V SP to IV SP. IV had a lot more damage. Compare V Online to IV Online, and there is more damage aswell. Damn, in V your car can be hit by a train, look like this, and you can still drive!

Exactly, most people have quite heavily armoured vehicles now in GTA online and they take a bashing.

Even without armor, they're way harder to bust up with crashes than in IV...

They're not. They just explode before you can do it. That being said, put your car in front of a moving train to see how busted up it can get.

Would be fun.

Hell even next gen Carmageddon's damage physics are indefinitely better then GTA V's

And some more:

If they do not upgrade their physics, it will be feeling like GTA SA does now on XBOX360 when you download it from XBL. It will feel extremely outdated as even its driving physics feel like PSx gen.

I really don't understand why they softened the cars so much from IV to V

the system in IV was realistic and pleasing, now all cars are f*cking armored...

Well... it still drives pretty. In IV you don't need to hit a train, to get squashed wheels as example.

What makes you think the game will run on a new engine? You do know that it is going to be a port right? Not like actually a brand new game that comes with it's own brand new engine. You will get better graphics, more grass, maybe a few animals here and there. That is it. None of this "new engine" crap.

Actually, there is a new engine, as seeing as we are getting 3d grasses and tree.

To have better "graphic" you need a new engine, or at least an updated one.

So it's just not a port.

Ummmm......no. That's not how engines work.

Whatever the case is, It's not a port. We are getting new stuff and updated things.

More like a re-mastered version.

A re-mastered version is just a port that has been shined up.

And no you are not getting new things, you are getting things from single player that the hardware can now handle in online.

Okay for the idiots saying it's a port.

HOW CAN IT BE A PORT IF WE ARE GETTING UPDATED THINGS?

A PORT IS JUST A COPY. GTA V ON CURRENT GEN IS NOT A COPY.

ffs.

Carmageddon isn't a high budget game, and GTA V is on par with PSx gen games. R* just dropped the ball when it comes to driving/damage physics.

It is both a port and a remaster.

Also it is the very same engine, RAGE. You don't need separate engines for small things. An engine is the code that runs the game. Just look at all the games Rockstar has done with the same engine in the link.

Well... it seems R* wants to please 12YOloswaggers who like Saints Row like gameplay. So GTA 6 will most likely be even more Saints Row like.

I agree with you though.

But V isn't? The Sabre would be scrap metal, with the right speed. But atleast you're not able to drive it anymore in IV, while you can crash it into everything at any speed in V, and it still drives perfectly. Nobody said it was realistic, but it is definitely MORE realistic than V or any GTA.

You actually had to break before driving narrow city curves in IV, otherwise your car wheels might get stucked deep in your cars body. In V you're driving them with 200 Km/h-125 mph, and you can do it. And if you still crash, doing six barrel-rolls,... well, it doesn't matter. Your car is going to fine anyway.

SO realistic!

GTA IV's crash physics aren't too far behind from Burnout Paradise, Burnout Paradise uses many particles, car parts, slow motion and the exaggerated speed however.

Fun fact: Before adapting the RAGE engine, Rockstar Games used Renderware in games before GTA IV. That engine was used in Burnout Paradise and made by Criterion, the makers of said game.

the only physics that might need to be adjusted are the ones that make any sport car being decent offroad and most of them totaly ownign any suv or offroad vehicle when offroading

further then that, no.

gta isnt a pure racegame so it doesnt need such things at all

Adjust what he have now. Make damaging your car a lot easier. Add the tires being hit off from singleplayer, and make it dent easier. Boom perfect.
