Stealing Personal Vehicles from other GTA:O Players.

So firstly, this isn't a 'concept thread' as I am not proposing it be implemented into the game, it's just a curiosity I'm posting in discussion with players here.

 

How would you the users feel if Rockstar allowed you to boost a player's car they leave parked in the street or wherever, encouraging more care and attention with your PV. Maybe a 40 minute timer and if they don't get it it's yours to insure or sell, et cetera. Anyway, would you praise such a system or would you hate it? How would you use it (If you would at all.)

I would do like any civilized person and contact my insurance company or file a complaint to the police and report it as stolen.

As long as you have a chance to get it back, but because of the fact that people use God Mode and other hacks, I don't think the victim would have much of a chance.

I've already sold someone's Dubsta in December.I was doing the most known money glitch-go LSC,sell the car,go into xbox store,come back,sell again-I spawned into some other guy's garage,I found a Dubsta and sold it.That was a good experience but I also felt bad for that guy

IF you somehow had R* patch every money glitch, SP to MP and assorted way to exploit this to provide large amounts of "clean" money to the masses... I still wouldn't like it. Would only turn Public Lobbies into Bad Sport/Cheater Pool lobbies as those who like their cars would stay in Invite Only.

Why not also have negative bounties? You claim/survive the bounty and you lose the amount it was for. Just as much of a sociopathic move as this.

I think Pink Slips could have been interesting, but with the way races play out, and how laggy some of them tend to be, I don't think it would work out well. Maybe with No-Contact and No Traffic, as Traffic can cost you a game 'cos of their sh*tty driving.

 

The idea of being able to steal other people PV's in Free Mode is a cool concept, but I'd hate to lose my car permanently. It certainly would be a realistic feature though if you're silly enough to leave it laying around somewhere.

Who needs car duplication glitches when you can just grab supercars off the street.

 

(For the record though, the idea sounds horrific, you pretty such couldn't safely use any PVs)

Would very likely not use that feature unless the person really had it coming to them, and even then that would be pretty damn cruel to sell someone elses' PV, knowing they could've spent real-world money on it, or hours grinding for it.

I probably wouldn't ever use that feature, and I would stay in Invite Only Sessions 99.9% of the time if it was ever included.

This would probably also add varity to the game cuz most players that doesnt want to lose an expensive car will use a cheap/easy to find car unless their garage is full of premium cars.

Besides, I am a neutral player. I don't fight back unless provoked. But not to the level of stealing a personal vehicle. Imagine if that was a Roosevelt, I would truly feel sorry for them if I ever did that.

Maybe if they implemented hacking to unlock other players PVs / And security systems that alerts players when their PVs are being broken into it would create a fun cat and mouse game. You could sell it to Simeon at another location for a "car auction" and players would be able to bid on cars they want.

Nope. Ironic would be had I proposed it as an actual mechanic. This is just an exercise in discussion of a hypothetical mechanic to encourage social discussion beyond heists or speculation.

it could be fair game if you could buy a security system for your car that players will have to "break in" to. The more money you pay for a security system the harder it will be to steal your car. Maybe a similar break in like how we have to hack a terminal but something more related to breaking into a car obviously, like hacking the ECU, ignition, GPS tracker on it and an option of breaking the windows but getting the alarm to go off which alerts the owner/authorities or an option of jumping through more hoops to have a "silent" break-in. The game is called Grand Theft Auto so I think it could be a interesting new addition to troll players or make money if all the kinks are worked out in it.

I have a security system on my GTA cars as I type this. Its called an "ignition bomb"... Yeah its a thing and this thread just points to the fact that every single player in GTAO will be using one

I would use it only if you could sell it but the owner could pay a fee to have it returned (possibly 10%-20% of the car's value) or it just ends up in the impound lot after a few ingame days.

Between modders, glitchers and super awesome extremely skilled pro lazer pilots, there's plenty of ways to troll other players already.

I'll be surprised if people aren't going to stop playing soon just because of Rockstar not doing anything to stop these activities. If it's going to be possible for twats to steal your car and get rid of it completely (or even more fun like someone suggested, get inside your property) I don't see how any "clean" player will ever play a public session ever again.

 

I know I wouldn't. This is not GTA anymore.
