Your Favorite Character in Freeroam

What character do you play as the most in Freeroam and why?

 

For me, I feel like playing as Franklin is a no-brainer. Franklin has:

 

1) The nicest house, which you can land a helicopter on top of for rapid transit.

2) The widest and most diverse clothing selection. Everything from exquisite suits to hoodies and baggy jeans.

3) The best active ability (since his is the only one that is useful in AND out of combat)

4) The best personal vehicle. You know it's true

5) Access to nightlife street racing, which is made 100% better with his ability.

6) Free cab rides (once the cab company is purchased). Instant travel to any spot in SA. Not a bad deal.

7) Chop, who - beyond playing fetch and teaching tricks - can function as an attack dog for utterly hilarious results.

 

So who's your favorite character to run around and engage in mischief in, and what draws you to them?

I balance all three. I keep true to their character in the story and they'll change as the story progresses..

Trevor's second, due to his mental state (and drug empire), and Franklin's third, because he's a dull bastard, who irons clothes all day.

I usually free roam as Michael, since I prefer his character. Trevor's fun for rampages though.

So, you're a cannibal? Because that's what Trevor is according to a certain switch scene where he says "Never eat indian people!" and also

he ate human eyelids in one of the missions, and then puked his guts out right after

 

 

But anyways, I play as Trevor the most, because he's crazy.

Trevor because I don't think it makes sense half the time to free roam with F or M

 

too much ludo-narrative dissonance with the story.

 

M just wants to sit at home or watch/make movies... and take zero risk

 

and F just wants to sit at home or... get drunker but not drunker or not taken advantage of

 

 

it makes no sense for story reasons that they'd be out doing most of the 'violent' free roam stuff

 

 

so I usually just use them for their unique properties and that's it

 

 

 

Trevor i feel is better because I think he basically IS the ultimate representation of GTA gameplay or rampages

 

and plus:

 

1. he has smuggling missions

2. is always getting attacked by Lost

3. can own the most 'clubs' that 'get attacked' (so the most random 'property' shootout missions)

4. his Houses and Character Switch Spawns have the best locations (F and M are always at home deep in the city far from freeways but T is almost always near a freeway and helicopter)

5. has the most parking spots (2 at strip club + 1 at SS) that are full sized (M's 2 spots are tight and F's are almost impossible without scratching doors)

6. has the repeatable rampages

7. has the fastest access to planes/helis

8. has the most whores to bang (cuz he got that SS girl)

9. has the most/best 'crime' Outfits (especially thanks to the Port one which I think is super good for LS crime involving east LS or the port)

10. the best 'home interacting items like smoking crack (when you switch) or sniffing gas (making you appear somewhere new)

11. 2 homes at the end of the game

12. usually tied or close to M with the most money during the story to have fun with during free roam (you can't really spend freely with F until near the end of the game)

 

and plus, like i said, M and F mostly just sit at home, watch movies, get drunk but not drunker before you take advantage

 

but T is out there wanting to building Trevor Philips Industries... start random gang wars, steal drugs, own properties, and in general it seems like it makes more sense and so it's more fun to free roam as T

 

 

there's basically zero reason why F and M would just go free roaming and get Wanted... it totally contradicts the story =/

 

 

which sucks a bit because I think it's fun to free roam with F at night, wearing a Varsity Jacket and an Animal Mask just like in Hotline Miami...

 

but it makes no sense for the story

Was Michael, but I'm quite enjoying Franklin now too. Franklin is a strange one for me, after finishing it I just wrote him off as Generic and Boring, but going back and replaying some missions and seeing the cutscenes again, he has some pretty funny lines and moments. He's still pretty generic, but I still find him to be likable.

 

Plus he has the Buffalo.

 

Before it released, I expected it to be Trevor, but, I just never feel like playing as him really.

Franklin and Lamar's cutscenes from the start of the game up until Heist 1 are amazing.... same with Hood Safari and Lamar Down

and then Franklin always says, in a totally naive and stupid but charming and innocent way....

I like Franklin and Michael's earlier conversations too, especially the one before 'Father/Son' it's near perfect. Some of the best lines they both had.

 

Edit: Franklin's 'What?' has always cracked me up, I remember laughing at that back in September, it's the way he says it in such a high pitched tone lol.

Michael is my favorite character but for doing free roam is Trevor with no doubt, even though i spend the most time with Michael flying the P-996 Lazer around.

yeah I think 3 of the best scenes in the game by far (maybe part of my top 5) are when F and M talk

 

at the start of Father/Son (the whole pest/lesson in humility, lost in a training montage, I wasn't serious when I said that/....what?, etc was just so well written and witty)

 

end of Dead Man Walking (M isn't as good but F is super cool and confident here, I aint gonna let some cat, government just hustlers anyhow line and plus the orange haze of the East LS night cityscape in the background and oil derricks field in the foreground makes this a super awesome scene)

 

and the end of Dead Meat.... wow... this is one of M's best scenes because it really shows just how deluded and selfish he is... so bloodied up and he still tries to act like the problems are NOT just about him... and then F says... it's not me man... it's you... and M looks so small and exposed, so alone. such a good scene. Franklin makes the scene with how he humble M. one of F's best scenes as a primary rather than secondary character)

I agree that Franklin (Along with Trevor) is the best to play.... however a few thoughts about your reasons why Franklin is the best...

1. His house sucks. Its in the worst possible location. Takes forever to get the heli pad, airport, beach, and there is no real benefit for living in that house compared to even Trevors trailer.

 

3. agreed. I always forget about the special abilities though.

 

4. While I like the Buffalo, Michael's car is by far the best handling of the three and of course, Trevor's is the most badass. Franklin's Harley is nice though.

 

6. All cab rides are basically free in a world with $300,000,000 that consistently renews everything I spend.

 

7. Chop was good in theory, but really is pointless. He gets bored in no time. Not the "man's best friend" I thought he was going to be.
