We only got two GTA's this past generation and we're getting GTA V remastered for new gen consoles very soon, so what will we see in the coming years? I know we'll get DLC for GTA V, that's a given, but what year do you see a GTA VI happening? I suspect 2018 or somewhere around that time. What do you think? Zello Posted August 31, 2014 Share Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) 2017 Hopefully a good 4 years to let the hunger for the next title build up maybe R* starts releasing new titles for their other games a new Bully, Red Dead, Agent (where are you?) and so on. Building and working on new gameplay mechanics as a foundation for the next GTA game. We saw it in this gen they took small parts from each and sprinkled it in they took the combat from Red Dead and Max Payne(The weapon wheel, deadeye, cover system etc) ,the driving and car customization from Midnight club. Rockstar has so many series on their plate we don't know what they're roll with. I think MCLA is done, Bully 2 seems to be a fan favorite. Personally, I'd like to see a reboot of Manhunt or an appropriate sequel to Red Dead Redemption. While I think Max Payne's story is over, there could definitely be a prequel of sorts, but I doubt he's high on their list. Does anyone know of Agent was sh*t-canned? If not, that might be next. I don't foresee a new GTA for a long time, long as people like Rock Howard give them all their money in shark cards. If it s successful and the players are happy R* might change the system and sell new content as DLC. If not, of course they have to generate some money on another way. Anyway as I think that V is already too old and there arent sooo many possibilities left, I m pretty sure there will come only some other free DLCs and then R* will work on something new. Maybe they will even split the team earlier. So as it is a new console system and all they should need a while. Anyway I heard that it was difficult to code for XBox 360 and PS3. So the coding should have been improved for the new consoles which reduces the development time. And as we waited 5 years (?) from IV to V, imo the next one will be in between 3 - 4 yrs. Take GTA V's Fall release, add 4-5 years and you get a possible release window. Expect new single player contents that would extend V's life for more months, maybe contents as rich as EFLC or one episode at least. Apparently, the PS4/X1/PC version is going to have some new contents added, so there's that. There's the ever-evolving and ever-expanding GTA Online that can keep the V world running for the next few years as it will constantly receive its own share of expansions. Who knows, you may see yourself able to visit a better rendition of IV's Liberty City in GTA Online. If this expansion may ever happen, it would sell very well. This console generation will probably be done in another 7 years. And it'll take R* about 3-5 of those years to put out a new GTA. Also don't forget other R* titles in between (new Red Dead possibly etc.) So I'll say the earliest an announcement in fall 2016 with a late 2017 release. Latest - an announcement in 2017 with a 2018 release. I thought both SA and IV were great and soon after (like a year to year and a half) I couldn't wait to see what was next. Not because I got bored with those games but because I was genuinely curious what R* would come up with.
