Gnocchi Flip Flops
I have a Toshiba L55D-S5361 and I've started to have some rather annoying issues with it this week. I could deal with the touchpad suddenly not working, but the audio issues are unbearable. Earlier this week I tried to watch a video on YT and it worked as usual, but then I went to browse the forums for about 5 minutes. I came back to watch a different video and noticed that there was no sound. I made sure that nothing was muted, but when I went to test my audio I got no sound, even though the bars or whatever you'd call them were moving indicating that there was supposed to be sound. So I freaked out and had to deal with the same thing over and over until I got my dad to look at the laptop the following day. He said my drivers were up to date and that his headphones worked without the sound going out so he didn't know what the problem was. When I came home after he looked at the laptop, I noticed that the touchpad wasn't working nor were the two buttons below it working. I blew that off as the sound issue proved to be the more annoying issue. So everyday it's been the same story until today. I got tired of it and downloaded Conexant SmartAudio (8.54.44.0 from 8/8/2012) I think it was just to try it out. So it worked for about 10 minutes and then the sound went out again. I sighed but then it came back after 15 seconds. Now I'm noticing a pattern. The sound plays for around 1 & 1/2 to 2 minutes nonstop and then goes out for 15 seconds if you pause whatever you're listening to right after the sound goes out. Then it comes back for another 1 &1/2 to 2 minutes. It is really annoying and it kind of limits what I watch on YT. I usually watch reviews but now it's just POV's or videos that don't involve a commenter because I'll miss what they're saying. CallumL
Is this with or without headphones? My old Compaq laptop did something very similar when I had headphones in. To make it worked I had to punch where you put the wire in. That indicated it was the components inside which were the problem, but it was an old laptop and I learnt to live with it until I got a new one. So maybe that is what is happening to yours. Have you dropped it recently or has the wire got caught and been pulled? If so there is a high chance it has broke something on the inside. If it is doing it without headphones, I'm guessing that the speakers are just knackered. My advice would be to take it to a well known, professional PC Repair shop and ask them to take a look. It may be pricey but I'm sure they'll deal with it. P.s - How old is the laptop? Edited August 31, 2014 by CallumL
