Officer620
Why are these cops so, so, so much better than the ones in V? The soldier quotes from GTA III were gold too, but I can't find a video anywhere. Much more original and humorous than the current "army" guys. Cheers! Gnocchi Flip Flops
The voice acting was one of the major things that, for me, negatively affected how the atmosphere felt. I mean simply stating that the voice acting was bad would be an understatement. It was abysmal. I mean sh*t as if the overly sensitive NPC's weren't bad enough, they had to torture us with that bad voice acting. It wasn't even that bad in the 3-D era games and to be honest it was perfect in IV. So I don't know why they stooped so low, as low as some laughably poor budget games that I've played in the past, with the voice acting. And now I'm going to veer to a slightly off topic argument about how the humor in this game is absolutely terrible. I've never busted out laughing simply from cruising around or walking around in this game. However I have countless times in IV, SA, VC and especially III. visionist, Officer620, Delta India Echo and 6 others
Cutter De Blanc
I wonder if they got gangbanger thugs to do Voice Acting because it was significantly cheaper than hiring professionals. matajuegos01 and visionist
Slevin77
...not defending or arguing a case for this subject but, wasn't that the point? SA was more 90's type LA which was gangland and hard times. Now? Do you know how stupid people are? And sound? Just walk down the beach in California and listen to the stupid sh*t people are saying while passing you by. And these are parodies of our world, every GTA is a parody of real life. And people these days don't exactly sound like top class graduates of the Actor's Studio, hell most of them sound like they dropped out in 5th grade. Xerukal
I can't understand how ped dialogue can make one choke on laughter so much. I just find them all very entertaining. Even my all time favorite ped in SA, the Indian guy, didn't manage to make me die from laughter. He gave me a good chuckle because of how unexpected and batsh*t insane his lines/compliments/insults were. I was mostly just entertained. I was never quite pissing myself. I do love the absurdity of all the ads, though. Even in GTA V, they're pretty alright. Though SA and IV were the pinnacle of advertisement absurdity. Specifically the radio commercials. We simply need more unexpected lines thrown down our way to catch us off-guard. Not as a gimmick, no (le funny random and all that ironic bollocks). But something to catch us off-guard when we're just minding our own business. Real life LA has a lot of stupid people, but what good is that stupidity in a game if you can't make it exaggerated to an entertaining extent? Or just entertaining in any way, shape or form. I don't remember a lot of the ped lines in V. This is only because I haven't payed a lot of attention to the peds in specific, besides punching and insulting them. I'll be sure to hang around them a lot more when the PC version comes. I'm not implying anything will change with the peds, PC is simply my platform of choice for the game, as my time with the 360 version wasn't that pleasant. Just clarifying that so I don't get jumped for having unrealistic explanations regarding the new versions or whatever. If that's the same guy I'm thinking of, I'm pretty sure that guy is an alien disguised as a human. Gives his lines a lot more sense. I'll give R* a lot of credit when it comes to listening to pedestrians having phone conversations. Back in the GTA IV days, it was just a random assortment of lines with no continuity, and while there was funny ones out there, you had to wait like spans of ten seconds to hear them and there were a lot of "uh-huh" or "I know what you mean" and that kind of Generic filler lines. Now, there's actually a continuity in the lines and phonecalls actually tell mini stories about what kind of people are on the phone and their situation. I have to tip my hat off when it comes to the phone conversations the hookers have in particular, I mean they can be funny, sordid, and sometimes even a little sad. The best way to listen to those, is to pick up a hooker, do the deed, and send her on her way, she's guaranteed to phone after a few steps. I definitely recommend doing this if you're into small details. Edited August 31, 2014 by TheDeaconBosco Xerukal

Osho
Well, overall the lines/dialogues, other than VA, in this game absolutely suck. I even said this before back, they could have easily toned down a lot of the crap dialogue which sounds annoying, let alone funny. It just isn't as enjoyable as the 3D era games which are fantastic. V dialogues, make me actually cringe and add nothing much to the experience. I usually don't get upset about the voice acting, nor the swearing but I have never had to worry about hearing such sh*tty lines, ever in the past. I think it's just another example of average enjoyment targeted for the braindead casuals who are easily attracted in getting the kicks out of these. matajuegos01 and Officer620

GTA_dog
*random Vespucci beach/Los Santos ped* "What the f*ck, dude?!" *gay dude voice* "you f*ckarrr" They repeat themselves with the same sh*t, it gets annoying when you're not even near them and they just walk by you and repeat their lines. matajuegos01
It's not about the sh*tty VA, because to be fair some of the dialogue is better than in IV, but the thing is that every pedestrian yells the same sh*tty insults every 2 seconds, they don't sound like they are doing it for a videogame, but for a cartoon. VolkXue
Rockstar Games has hired real gangsters as voice actors for Grand Theft Auto V. In fact, Lazlow Jones has explained that they get these guys in to record the gang characters because they didn't want a goofy Hollywood actor who went to a fancy school trying to be a hard gang member. I personally find it pretty "authentic". Gangsters in V sound stupid anyway. Real or not. "For real, for real my baby!" One of the most annoying random npc lines ever... tom_p1980
I'm not sure if anyone has really noticed, but the voice acting for enemies is just awful in most cirumstances. There is one guy who shouts "YOU MOTHERF**KEEEEEER" and I can only assume someone stepped on his toe as he screamed, because that's what it sounds like. I agree, but the guy who shouts like he's had his foot stepped on has me laughing every time I hear it.
Ash_735
So ironically, Rockstar letting people from gangs, etc, in their studio and asking them to ablib to the scripts to try and get more authentic and real dialogue, ....has actually backfired.
