I decided to give GTA Online a go the other night once again and one of the main things that bugged me was how whenever you did missions, the custom soundtrack/score just forces it on you. Sure, you can go into your car and change to a radio station, but the minute you get out, the background music starts playing and it even continues to play when you get back into your car.

Does this bug anyone else or is it just me?

I have music turned completely off. I haven't bothered turning it in since January. Feels a lot better without it imo.

Well, I enjoy it. I rather hear the radio in a vehicle but on foot in missions it's great and makes those more intense IMO.

Most of it is annoying, there's a few missions that have a good score (IIRC they're missions where you fight the Lost MC and it's a badass guitar track).

But yeah, I wish there was a separate option to turn off the score and not turn off the radio.

Mine too. Considering the songs repeat themselves over and over, Im not sure how anyone can stand to have music on.

As much as I know backround music also plays when randomly doing basejumps and shootouts.

Is there anyway to turn off that music in free roam?

I like some of the songs like Baker Street & Big Log and the rest of LSRR. It's a lot better than some of the background music imho

This. And I did specificly because of mission music. Silence sounds so much better than the sh*t music they play. And when i get into shootouts things always seem more immersive with no music playing

I actually love some of them. Though yes they can be annoying sometimes.

90% of the time my TV is turned down and music is being played off of my laptop but i never had a problem with the background music. It would be so boring doing missions in silence. My favorite is that casino sounding one.

I have had my music muted for the longest time now because of this.

I voted No, because there are quite a few tracks that I love, especially the one in Pickup Sticks. I do want to agree with you that it's annoying that when you get back in your vehicle you have to turn your radio back on. It's the exact opposite in free mode.

If it's North Yankton Memories, no. But the rest depend on my mood. If I dont want to listen to it, I turn my car radio on.

I played with music off for a few months but its boring as sh*t. Id rather listen to some music while driving or whatever than nothing.

Some of them aren't bad, it just bugs me that I'll turn the radio on right as my car starts up for the mission and then it magically turns itself off for the mission music.

- Pause.

- Options.

- Settings.

- Audio.

- Lower music to off.

All radio and background music will be turned off. Want music back on, go to settings and turn it back on.

So no, the background music technically isn't "forced" upon you.

But there's no way to turn the background music off and keep the radio music on. That's what I'm trying to get at.

It's annoying. Any game of this magnitude should have separate volume controls for music (for example radio vs ambient). Games from the PS1 almost 20 years ago had those options.

or at least make it less frequent. for me..it takes away from the immersiveness

rdr was on point with the score

Yes, it bugs me a lot, it tries to make it seem like a "cool" action movie.

The only work-around I can think of is turning all music down

I want to blast jadakiss while i'm playing deathmatches, not that repetitive score stuff. for story missions? yeah, it's good. when that same music plays again and again in deathmatches and contact missions? plz no stop

Absolutely. I also hate the music that plays when you fly aircraft. The background music just breaks immersion.

I like how the vote is neutral. Both sides: 28.
