Umm you can also use it to free roam (fly it just for fun) or use it to kill cops. You don't always have to use it to kill every other player :dozing:

We have helicopters that are practically sitting ducks. Don't like 'em, don't use 'em

first of all it's euphoria, not ragdoll

and why would you prefer going back to canned animations that are the exact same every time and tricky to line up and blend causing a lot of visual bugs?

 

I'm not talking about the engine's name, I'm talking about what the engine does. And what it does, it turn your character into a useless ragdoll anytime they're not on their feet. Missed a step going down this big hill? Better make yourself a sandwich while your character finishes tumbling down for 2 minutes. NCP car barely tapped you? Better fall on the ground and lay there for 5 seconds. Destroyed airplane tail lands on you? No, don't crawl out of it, better stay there banging your head on it until you die. Jump down to a lower level? Better take a faceplant on it.

 

You know, Uncharted has ragdoll physics.... AFTER YOU DIE. Until that moment, your character remains competent AND responsive. And I don't see any visual bugs in THOSE games, so I call BS on that. Nothing inherently wrong with ragdoll physics, but Rockstar is pitiful with them.

 

I won't reply again, just a heads up.

 

 

it's not ragdoll, a ragdoll is a "dead" inert object. what euphoria does is simulate a characters muscle system and uses AI to have it react realistically.

the difference is clearly explained at the start of this video

 

also I never said anything about ragdoll leading to visual bugs and glitches, I was talking about canned animations (key-framed or mo-capped animation)

they simply don't offer the same kind of flexibility that a technique like euphoria does, it can seamlessly blend canned animations into the procedural animation generated by the physics engine and euphoria.

 

I do get your point about the implementation leaving something to be desired, the thresholds for stumbling to your face seem a bit off sometimes and the blending between having control and the system taking over can be a it dodgy and leave you helpless from time to time

but IMO the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks and technologies like these should be applauded for bringing something new to the world of videogames.

they should however work on having control while the system is active IMO, kind of like how you can control your car in mid-air while the physics do their thing at the same time.

just thought your statements could do with some nuance as they were clearly only focusing on the downsides of the system

How would it be chopped live to a lazer? hovering would mean you could hover in the air and shooting down at people below with the explosive round than switching to flight and shooting down a lazer and just the look of it would look cool and the switch and hovering animation havent seen it since old consoles

the thing is rockstar isnt good at balancing

anything that can hover like the chopper and woud have the same mg the laser fighter jet has is definatly overpowered, sertainly if it also can accelerate like a fighter jet at the same time and be delivered at every heliport in the game :O

The Hydra should be added. But anti-air launchers should be added with them. It would be simple to just port the Buzzard/Laser lock-on and missiles to a new launcher.

i think we shoud get a stinger misile even without any new aircraft being added already.

though i think the missiles shoud cost atleast 10 000 a piece and the reload shoudnt be that great, otherwise it woud be to overpowered

Yes, I REALLY want the Hydra. Anything that could compete the Lazer would be a great addition to dog fighting in GTAO. Plus I just love Harriers and besides from what I can tell, the Hydra isn't going to be a subsonic attack jet like the AV-8b. However no matter how or where I look at it, I still can't spot cannons on the thing. I'm not really worried about this when it comes to Air-to-Ground assaults. It should still be able to duel fire rockets in quick succession as it did in SA making Air-to-Ground a non-issue. On the flip side I'm curious to see how it handles Air-to-Air without cannon fire. Maybe it will be able to quickly fire duel locked on rockets making a it a bitch to deal with. But you really can't replace a jets cannons with more rockets. We'll just have to wait and see. Maybe it will have cannon, maybe perhaps not explosive but cannons are always better than no cannons. You can't really have a fighter jet without them.

 

By the way for all you people worried about more jets in GTAO. Just buy your own jet when they come out. Nuclear deterrence won the cold war and now you can too! Buy a jet and win the war on griefing today!

didnt read it all but what i think you think is a hydra is a beta vehicle called vulkan (from piecing together strings relating to a jet called vulkan), and the hydra is probably going to be very different, but it is going to be a vertical take off vehicle for sure

The Hydra would be a better addition than crappy classic cars or lame unarmed planes, even better than super sports cars or mansions IMO. But it should just have missiles and maybe machine guns, no explosive rounds. And R* should add an anti aircraft weapon, mainly because of the increasing number of Lazer terrorists. They are f*cking annoying.

I do roleplay and stuff, so I would like one. It would also be sweet for missions. My crew could call for air support so I provide some ordnance to aid their progress.

Flying is fun, and military hardware is interesting and fun (for me at least).

 

Yes, it will plague free roam as much as squeakers, glitchers and modders, but we are all used to it. It doesn't make it right, but I cannot change that. It is all in Rockstars hands now.

Rockstar could make it available to level 300 and make it $7,000,000 as a nice deterrent for griefers. That's better than literally everybody in a lobby owning one.

 

So yes, I want a Hydra. I won't moan if we don't get it, but it would be enjoyable to own.

Rockstar will always try to find a way to add in more and more griefing machines.

What have they added since the beginning that would be considered a griefing machine? The tank, lazer, and buzzard have always been here.

trying to stay on topic: if the hydra was like this, it would still satisfy everyone with the ability to land and take off vertically while having jet speed and having proper armament, without becoming a massive burden in online sessions, unless someone is really good with one, but then again, ive spawncamped several people with a buzzard

how about instead of annihilator machine guns it could have machine guns from the laser?
i could live with that but half the forum cant so im leaning towards a more 'balanced' approach

 

 

It's already been confirmed with the 2nd trailer that it's duel firing rockets will now have homing capabilities.

It just doesn't make sense to me from anything but a nostalgia stand point. What good would it really do in this game? It'll be chopped liver for anyone with a Lazer, Buzzard, RPG or sniper rifle. Hovering offers no advantage to combat, just makes you a sitting duck. If it were as easy to control as a helicopter, it would be over powered. Even then, you have the buzzard already, so what's the point? I just don't get what real benefit the hydra would have to choose it over a buzzard or a Lazer. Landing on rooftops, maybe? But man, you sure are an easy target when you're hovering.

Its just a new toy to play with, but I'm sure it will be no more effective than the buzzard. It actually might be slower. I think the jet pack would be a lot of fun.
