Am I the only one that likes the prep missions for the heists?

You can like the game but at the same time point its flaws.

Too bad half this forum doesn't share this mindset. V is literally Hitler.

I didn't mind buying the masks. You had to have a suit for Three Leaf Clover and nobody complained.

Because:

1. You need to purchase only for yourself, unlike in V, for all the accomplices too.

2. No such requirements to quickly buy the masks in 20 seconds, or boiler suits in 30 seconds. Similarly, "undented", "in the dust", and "Not a Scratch", "Truckin'" are both copy/paste requirements with different names.

3. IV presented the heist prep task in as simple, and straightforward approach, by keeping bullsh*t requirements to a minimal, not time consuming and more focus on the actual progress.

All of this and if you already have a suit you can do Three Leaf Clover straight away. It's no different to Michael being required to wear a suit before he cases Vangelico.

best part of the game was Heist prep!

i would always take hours and hours to really enjoy the moment

last night i was doing my 8th playthrough and i scouted and mapped out my Gaz hijack perfectly

first, I had Franklin get a stolen car because obviously Michael can't use his licensed Obey, and then F gave the stolen car to M

M drives out to the highway, and he scouted out an escape route into the LA river... right as you approach it on the highway there, there's an opening where the highway opens down to the river near some construction that is opposite to the Mirror Park construction by the river. so i made waypoints to escape down in to the river canal, and PLUS this would perfectly let me drive the gas van along the river straight to Lester's shop! i mean, M can't be driving the van on the highway... too risky! so the escape route is perfect.

then, I hide the car in the middle of the highway a bit near some pylons... and wait for the gas truck, and right before it comes, I pull out and I let another car hit me so it looks like an accident, and the gas security driver isn't alerted...

M gets out to 'see the accident'... and walks nearby the van... and bam, steals it!

obviously he steals it because it's too risky to try open a gas van and find the right gas right on the highway. it's more believable to steal the van and let Lester spend a few hours finding the right chemical in the van.

also, for the Bugstar van, I got Franklin to steal another car... but we used the Ocelot from the Long Stretch mission! that way, after the Heist when they found the car and link it to the bugstar theft and vangelico heist, they link that car to Chamberlain gangs! this is perfect distraction from M and F... they'll suspect Chamberlain gangsters or Ballas involved in the heist, not M and F

this was a small prep tho.... once for Trevor I went really hardcore and spent a few days planning the set-up missions.... these is Trevor's story for it

So your buddy Trevor eh was in the Trevor Philips Industries HQ in my empire office and I was working in front of my bulletin board and stretching out maps on my desk and pinning photos on the wall just like Michael and Trevor eh but I run a serious business unlike those amateurs so I got meth cooking to the side, guns loading out the back window into farm trucks, stock news on the old CRT cuz I gotta keep my bonds diversified and running my TPI empire conglomerate you know the title aint saying CEO for nothing eh!
But it was this music oooooooh soooooo coooooooold inspiring man it made me think about my legacy! I gotta really put more passion into my work cuz if you aren't yourself then who are you, if you don't love your work then what'ca got, amigo?! So that's how I came up with it. I was planning out my approach for the Paleto Bay bank set-up and we needed some tig 'ole bitties ooops I mean some big 'ole guns... you know real guns, not the kind you suck like a Werthers. So I needed to take a military hardware convoy but I didn't just want to just use some rockets or something messy, it had to be perfect! A well oiled machine of a plan! And the way I see it, this country was built for and by oil, so I was just doing my patriotic duty to make sure my plan was well oiled machine eh! This music just really inspired me eh guys... sent shivers down my spine like ice but it inspired greatness! The greatest ever strategy of Trevor Philips Industries!
What your buddy Trevor here did was first steal a RonOIL dubsta and throw on my work clothes and a RoinOIL hat, and I spend a few days driving around the Grand Senora desert scouting for a good ambush spot! Get it? The locals will just think I'm a RonOIL worker! HA HA! So this cover lets me driver around and act a bit weird without attracting suspicion. So, I drive around as a RonOIL man scouting the oil desert listening to Gaslamp Killer's Nissim and BAM! it hits me... a cactus but also my idea!
I choose along the west edge of the desert in front of the copper plant because the plant noise will help cover my ramming approach, the nearby oil derricks fits my cover, and just a few hundred meters north I can quickly get off the main road onto the dirt road that follows the train tracks east, and this provides me with a fast dirt road that has no traffic so I can quickly get the hardware truck back to HQ quickly and discretely! I climb up top the oil derricks to watch the military hardware convoy route, and I keep driving around a little so the locals and the army gets used to seeing me working out here, so later I don't raise suspicion when I begin setting up my ambush.
A few days later when I'm ready and it's a couple hours until dawn, I drive out to the copper processing plant, and in front of the gate I put down a sticky bomb. Then, about 5 or 6 cars lengths back, I put down another sticky bomb! Then, I put my armoured RoinOIL dubsta up on the western hill. You need to practice it a few times so that you can get the timing perfect, so that soon as the convoy comes into view and the first jeep passes the 3rd tree on the right, if you floor it and hit the stocky bomb triggers 3 seconds later, the jeeps will both perfectly explode but the hardware truck will be perfectly between the two bombs and unharmed, but at that exact moment you will ram into it! A half second too soon or late with either the gas or trigger and the perfect explosion/ramming will not work!! The timing has to be perfect, so that's why you have a RonOIL job as cover so the locals don't get suspicious while you're practicing -- they'll just think you're working. Trevor is so smart eh?!
I wait until just before sunset so that it's dark when I attack but the sun comes up as I begin to make my getaway. Then, I wait for the convoy. I watched it on the map... I'm waiting for the first jeep to pass the 3rd tree; I know that if I floor it then and drive a straight line, I will perfectly hit the barracks truck as the two jeeps explode!!!
So, I backed up on the hill, so the the first military convoy truck approaches the copper gate, I floor it! I trigger the sticky bombs and they perfectly blow up the front and rear escort trucks! By this point I'm 50 MPH and I smash into the driver's side door of the convoy, smashing the driver. I jump out quickly and put two in his dizzy and confused head! I plant another C4 onto my ramming truck to get rid of the evidence and jump through the now shattered window of the military hardware truck, push the driver over, and I quickly drive past the flaming jeeps, trigger my last sticky bombs, and escape before any cops are alerted, and go under the train overpass and make a quick right turn to follow the totally empty and quiet dirt road alongside the train tracks that l can follow safely back to HQ, with setting sun in front of me now in a beautiful picturesque moment of ambushing glory, and I drive off into the sunrise !!

Yeah, that's what I feel.

What really suck so bad about the prep tasks is how watered down ( simple ) they appear.

There's nothing special about them.

I mean, the same tasks might be a lot different ( non-scripted ) and fun to carry out online.

It might get more interesting options to follow and possible for the man power ( crew ) to change the course of their approach, that's creative enough to be satisfying of pulling the technique and exciting to play, than the sure-fire scripted form of approach in single-player.

It would be a lot better if they allow the players more freedom to call the shoots in planning and deciding how to control their AI accomplices in single-player.

Lool this is so silly.

You need to remind yourself this is just a video game, no need to get political.

The Algerian

I enjoyed all of them and hope there are prep missions in online whenever we actually get heists that is

Sure hope so but really not holding my breath.

Prep missions make it feel like you're actually doing something instead of watching just a cutscene and then right into the action, the bad thing is that they counted them as full fledged missions which is incredibly and blatantly lazy.
