Smith is the new Aussie opener, and Renshaw is the back-up.

Seeing a lot of angry reactions to Rohit and Kohli's inclusion in the squad for the Afghanistan series, lol.

Shami received the Arjuna Award from the President, though I reckon he'd be more pleased with his new hairline.

That Australian top six looks as stacked as the previous lineup and they have an extra bowlong option now in Green too. Ahhhhhhhhhhh

Have a feeling Smith will kill it in the openers role too

I noticed that head full of hair. MoSh stays winning

Played a WI debutant's first ball right to the slips :kekw:

I blame Gill for that run-out in the first match, but he played a really poor shot last match and gave his wicket for a duck. Hope he shines today.

Jaiswal been killing it so far. Sealed as the test opener?

KL apparently won't be keeping against England, so that leaves him fighting with Iyer for the number 5 spot. Don't really know who would make it tbh, though I'm more inclined towards Iyer.  Who do you expect will keep wickets? Out of Jurel and KSB, Jurel seems to be the better batsman looking at his 15-match FC stat, but idk about his keeping tbh.

Dube just doubled his batting average lmao. In case there are retentions, do you think CSK will go for him?

A debut to remember for Shamar Joseph. Let's see if he sticks around and makes his name or is a flash in the pan

Damn he did not shut the redditors up at all, now the voices to get him out are louder. I wonder if Rohit doesn't have an excellent IPL, whether we should have Gill in his place instead

As t20 opener ya. As test opener depends on how he does against England I think

I hope Jurel but I suspect it will be Bharat. I was not impressed with Bharat after the hone series against Aus

Lmao, the comeback not many saw coming.

I think the only surefire retentions for CSK rn are Rutu and Jaddu. Let's see how Dube plays this season, if he becomes a regular in the Indian side then you'd think him too

Yup. Career high score at that age. He is unstoppable when he gets going. Well, except when he decides to retire out to avoid running. :kekw:

Lmao at Sundar not being able to finish his quota after he finally starts taking wickets. Poor guy. Sanju as well, lol.

Got a five-four in Australia as well. Inspirational backstory as well, worked as a security guard. Always good to see WI's fast bowlers shine.

Sadly he is going to be relegated to the bench after Rohit's century.

True, but I guess Gill is more suited for batting at 3. Another year, another KL vs Gill debate lol.

Me too. Bharat hasn't really impressed anyone with both batting and keeping.

India A getting their asses kicked by the England Lions. Deshpande's figures, damn. Sad to see Saini fall off

Pakistan have lost every single game since Babar was removed from captaincy. That being said I still think they did the right thing moving on from him as skipper, though he is still their best batsman

Glad to see Sundar made up for his wicketless run with three wickets in the match. Rohit and Washi doing well and India winning a thriller, was a good day

XNOR are you going to watch tomorrows u19 WC match India v Bangladesh?

The t20 WC XI selection for India is going to be spicy after Rohits ton. Virat's fans would make a scene but I feel once SKY and Hardik return, Virat is the most droppable from the XI

Else how do you fit Rinku

My top 7 would be

Rohit

Jaiswal

Keeper (Kishan/KL/Samson/Jitesh (if Jitesh then slot him at 5/6))

SKY

Hardik

Rinku

Axar/Jaddu

reddit is suggesting dropping Jaiswal. I think thats mad but then again i dont expect different from Kohli's more rabid fans. Kohli is still a class player but doesnt fit in the XI imho

:( Same with Eashwaran as well. At least there was some good fightback from Patidar and Sai Sudarshan. Our bowlers aren't giving a lot of confidence tbh. They got big shoes to fill.

Rushing Shaheen does not seem to be a good move, though. Probably should've gone with Rizwan as a stopgap for about a year and preferably let Shaheen settle into captaincy when he starts hitting 140kmph consistently.

Speaking of Sundar, he's been added to the A team. I hope he gets to hone his batting. A home century is long due after being left stranded at 96.

Yup, hard to find a place for Kohli now unless Rohit has a bad IPL (pls). Perhaps they can slot Kohli in by getting four overs from Hardik, and using Rinku as the 6th bowling option. But it's too risky lol, probably as bad as dropping Jaiswal/SKY for Kohli. Let's see how the management navigates the pressure from the broadcasters, fans and the WC organisers.

ICC tournaments are broadcasted on Star sports. I dont know much about the current group except that they make me feel old 😔

The debate over India's keeper for the home tests is heating up. Rahul/Bharat/Jurel? And if not KL then who between KL/Iyer/Gill gets dropped

Think we already talked about this lol, I will go KL for the keeper and the batting stays the same as it was vs RSA

I'm very familiar with the overbearing feeling of dread when you realise that there are people younger than you playing professional cricket while all you've done so far is make armchair comments, lol. Happened to me the last U19 WC. Perhaps you too can take solace when one of the squad members is eventually suspected of age-fudging, like Hangargekar.

Read on the Express that KL won't be keeping wickets, but I'm not sure how true it is, considering that Cricinfo/buzz haven't reported on it. I'm guessing either one of KL or KSB.

What about juggling these three around till Pant makes it back to the team? :pointkek:

Thankfully not a worry for the first two tests. Kohli won't be available.

Dravid confirmed KL wont be keeping. I think KSB edges his way in

Wonder if both sides will go with just two seamers. I hope it isnt a dustbowl though, i back us to beat them on typical Indian pitches of 2016-17 too Bazball or no Bazball

Virat was our best bat in the RSA tour but I reckon a middle order of Gill-KL-Iyer is pretty dang good

Yeah, me too. I wonder if Patidar's late inclusion as Kohli's replacement changes things.

A good outing from our A team today. Bundled up the England Lions for 152, and were trailing by 2 runs for no loss before stumps. Akash Deep took a four-for.

Looks like the pitch will be a turner. England is going with Wood as their sole fast bowler, and three spinners led by Pant's favourite baldy. Bold of them to go with a green spinner, I'd say. Not sure why they picked Wood tho.

🤞for winning the toss tomorrow. Imagine if we play two seamers :shillkek:

Something about not following on Dravid's recommendation on playing domestic cricket, idk. But he wasn't that great in the WI away series tbh.

Did you see the BBL final?

Idk if Pope sh*ts in the woods, but he sure shat all over Hyderabad. What an innings! He needs to teach Root how to play the sweep shot, lol. Could've got 200 if he didn't have a one-legged Leach on the other end.

I hope we don't get hit by that mental block to make us play for a draw.

Root is opening their bowling, lmao. Tbf he did perform better than our spin attack.  :sadkek: Kuldeep in for Axar next match?

Time for Rohit to shut r/cricket up again. He and Jaiswal should give us a good start, and hopefully a good innings from Gill will get us on track to chase 231 with success.

Innings victory!

Sarfaraz finished with a based 161(160). Also saw on r/cricket about his younger brother playing in the U-19 WC.

Shamar just bowled 10 overs on the trot, and picked up a 6-for! I really want WI to win at the Gabba, imagine if Smith gets to carry his bat lol.

edit:

gabba breached again

rohit ffs, 3 down, axar in

Rally round the Windies. Shamar Joseph may have broken his toe but he broke the Aussies unbeaten streak in pink ball matches 🔥

Meanwhile England's no 3 scores 196 while ours scores 0 both in our own conditions. Feels like that sums up this ignominy. In KSB and Ash anna we trust

No Jadeja and KL for the second test, but we got Washington, Sarfaraz and Saurabh Kumar. :yee:

The selection pool is just getting better - Patidar, Sarfaraz, Jurel, Washi and Kuldeep. I hope all of them get to play, but it's most likely going to be Washi taking Jadeja's place and Patidar replacing Rahul.  What do you think?

I suspect Kuldeep will replace Jadeja. Even though jaddu is an all rounder, they already have two in Ashwin and Axar and Kuldeep will make it ahead of Washi in bowling prowess it seems. I waant Washi in the team but think he will make it only as the fourth spinner if they drop Siraj. Or if they drop Gill lol. Washington is perhaps the most like for like for Jadeja (Saurabh still too new international wise) but my gut feel is they will go Kuldeep and dont trust in Washis bowling. Hoping im wrong tb, but Kuldeep is good too

Patidar will likely replace KL ya. Man i have a bad feeling about this series

You were right, they went with Kuldeep. No problem, but I'd still wish they went with Washington tbh, the batting let us down the first match and it was a bit crappy yesterday as well. I mean how can you edge something to the keeper in that relatively flat wicket? :(

Jaiswal stood out by finishing the day with 179*, but since our tail starts after Patidar I wonder if he will last long enough to make the team score at least 400. How do you think this match would play out? Can England out-bat us?

They could pull a reverse 2016-17 on us is my fear, where we score 400 this match and they'll respond with 600 ish. I don't think they will score 600 even with bazball hype and this pitch but the thing is they did not need 600 to beat us last time. I'm just glad we are batting first.

I think we should win this but just wary of England's batting

Poor guy, done dirty by a senior on his much-awaited debut lol. A great debut, nonetheless. The other debutant, Jurel, didn't look that good keeping against spin, but that Duckett run-out, out of the world.

Today was even better - Jaiswal's 200, Kuldeep's six and Ashwin's return. It would be even better if we delivered the coup de grace today.
