Congrats to the Aussies for winning their sixth ODI World Cup. They're entirely on a different level at the knockouts and finals. The Men in Blue got outplayed in all fronts. Since the next WC is in South Africa where we always suck, looks like we have to wait for 8 more years.

 

Despite the heartbreaking defeat at the finals, this WC exceeded expectations in every other way for me; especially at the last leg. That Maxwell innings against Afghanistan, England taking Pakistan to doom with them, Angelo Mathews getting timed out, Shami's 7-fer against NZ in the semi-final and Kohli and Rohit bullying Netherlands were great to watch. 8/10 WC for me. What do you think?

Ya 8/10. A good WC with decent crowds despite what some say, a variety of interesting ground conditions, high scores, upsets, 220s being defended and a fairytale India run that ended in heartbreak. Though in general the hype didnt feel as much as in 2011, except this final where the excitement was palpable. Of course we proceeded to lose then

You would think he asked for it himself cause no way GT is happy giving away their captain and a title winning captain who got them to the final both years too. The best pace all rounder in India as well. I thought Hardik had a bigger limelight away from say Rohit, SKY, Bumrah, IshKIsh in GT but maybe he just likes Mumbai lol, that and theres only three high profile IPL teams today: Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore

Kinda makes sense in that Gill is seen as the next Indian superstar. Kane may not be a sure starter and teams don't often give bowlers captiancy in IPL though Rashid captained in t20s before. But mostly I think Gill is seen as the next big thing and that's why he got it

As an RCB fan I welcome Greeny. But he seemed like such a good fit in MI. I still wish we kept Hasaranga especially and Hazlewood too. Hasaranga could have been our Rashid/Narine

SKY and Jadeja didn't help either. At least Kohli kept adding runs on the board with 1s and 2s while KL failed to accelerate. Nothing excuses going boundary-less for that long.

 

And now we're back dominating the opposition during bilateral matches.

Yeah makes sense, but still hesitant to burden a young batter with captaincy. He didn't do well in the high-pressure situations of the WC and WTC finals. But then, it's a T20 league so I guess a good place to learn.

Yeah it's a shame, I wanted us to clean sweep the Aussies lol. That and try out the other players on the bench once we clinched the series. I still hope we try out guys like Deepak Chahar and Washi Sundar for the next match. 

 

Phenomenal knock by Rutu though, the best ive seen by him by far. I would have Jaiswal and Gill as my first choice openers but Rutu is the next in line for me

I feel Yuzi should only be considered if Kuldeep goes off the boil. Seems they don't trust Bishnoi in ODIs yet. 

 

Axar only selected in ODIs which is arguably his weakest format imo. Washi selected in t20s over Axar though I'm guessing it's more to do with Jaddu already being in the t20 squad. 

 

The last time KL captained in RSA we were whitewashed 0-3... Only upwards from there!

A bit late but yeah it's a risky plan if that's what they are aiming with Hasaranga. I feel Mumbai will go hard for him. They should have stuck with him imo I feel he would have come good soon enough. 

 

Rachin I suspect will be another one of the one good international season brings him big money kinda players,who then don't live up to the hype. He's obviously really talented but I feel the owners should wait on him a bit longer.

Sports like kabbadi should get more emphasis. Bet no Australian or English can defeat us in that. Also ntm Australia is a developed country made on funds looted from the British Raj while India was in ruins after Britishers left (culturally it still is today). Internet should be regulated and what info kids see in their gadgets shouldnt be in the hands of a few guys in America or any other country. sh*t like gta should get banned too. All that requires a sh*t ton of political power which will be the major barricade especially how deep the west has control on the avg Indian's' life. 

Yesterday I turned 18 and didn't feel very good about myself or my country or any sh*t that relates to me. I hate to be called Indian. It sounds like being called a rapist dog. My uneducated guess on who will replace him is also Renshaw. I think Bancroft has the volume of runs in Shield cricket. Theres also Marcus Harris but hes a longshot

RCB got a good bowling attack in paper after the acquisition of Alzarri and Ferguson. But is it good in Chinnaswamy? Will Cam bowl at death? Should've gone after Madushanka instead of Alzarri and Tom Curran. They haven't got any good replacements for Hasaranga as well.

 

MI looks like the best team so far. Such a shame they were allowed to get away with buying Coetzee and Madushanka.

 

Absolutely no idea why RCB were bidding for Pat. Perhaps captaincy replacement in case Faf calls it quits?

 

Meanwhile, RCB's eternal nemesis KKR paid nearly 25 crores for Starc. Usual KKR though, I remember them going out for Iyer last mega auction and having little to no money for building the rest of their team.

How useful would Markram be to the SRH lineup if he wasn't the captain? I guess they could try Head-Klaasen-Cummins(c)-Wanindu/Jansen. But I'm sure their playing XI will be what you've suggested. They can brag about their stacked bench.

Not too happy seeing Thakur back. Need some to buy a lot of propanolol before watching Thakur, Deshpande and Pathirana bowling lol. I guess Mitchell replaces Moeen, while Rachin gives company to Santner in the dug-out.

I swear RCBs bowling attack looks like a downgrade from last year lmao. Hasaranga should have been backed. Atleast we could have asked for Washi for Shahbaz, now our main spinner is Karn Sharma. He isn't too bad as people think but idk lol, our main spinner might even be Maxwell and it looks uninspiring. Even our pace stocks don't look too good with Hazelwood gone and arguably Harshal too. 

 

My preference is Topley over Ferguson over Alzarri but Alzarri will start. He's a good bowler too tbf, the record for best figures in IPL is with him too.

Yeah, suddenly they look power packed in all departments. Except the spin dept, I thought Hasaranga was a perfect fit for them but they let SRH get him for base price where he might not even start lmao.

tfw Ashwin does a better job holding up one end than Prasidh in a trampoline pitch tailor-made for him. In his defence, the pitch is much flatter than yesterday, but that does make me wonder how much we'd have scored if the top order did not give their away their wickets. Elgar's doing to us what I wanted Warner to do to Pakistan, lol. A great partnership between him and the debutant Bedingham.

 

What do you expect their lead to be? I expected 200+, but then Bedingham and Verrenye fell in succession, so things are looking good for us. Anything under 100, the game is still on.

Yeah, unlikely he'll get a game unless Wadhera is injured. He's much more versatile, local and likes smashing against CSK.

Rohit's shot still makes me livid. Tbf he would back himself to clear the rope more often than not but his wicket started the slide and I so wanted him to correct his poor record in SA and he did the opposite. 

 

Gill I still have hope in, perhaps one bad innings but his test record doesn't look fancy. 

 

Well so does KL's but he hit another century in Centurion. A well fought hundred, hopefully a renaissance point for his test career.

We really need to restrict their lead to 100-120 max, I think our batting will come good next innings. Come on Rohit!

I only saw their partnership yesterday, our bowling looked completely toothless and too many leg side half volleys to Elgar fsr. Frustrating to watch, lol.

Its a good team. MI is one of the rare teams that need just 3 overseas and can use a 4th as impact because their Indian contingent is that good

Pakistan put up a much better fight than us. Nearly had the game if not for the dropped catch of Marsh. Also props to Salman and Rizwan for their batting in the second innings.

Not looking good for him tbh. Did extract bounce at times, but was all over the place with his lengths. Age is not on his side either. But since it's only a 2 match series and there is no possibility of winning this series, I'd play him in the next match and hope he improves (also because I don't particularly rate Mukesh or newly added Avesh Khan in tests).

 

Man, I hope Shardul's seven-for in SA last year isn't a fluke. His batting was terrible too. I hope one of Shardul or Ashwin get dropped next match for Jadeja.

 

What do you think about handing a test cap to Rinku Singh?

Yup, proper carry-job from KL. Do you want him to be a part of the squad touring Australia in winter next year? iirc he averages something like 20 or so in Australia.

Their batting last year struggled against spin, which should hopefully be remedied by Patidar's return. A middle order with Maxell, Green and Lomror means Kohli and Faf can play their natural games without pressure. The fast bowling is a downgrade, but I trust Siraj  & co. to take full advantage of the new 2 bouncers-per-over rule. However, finishing and spin-bowling departments leave a lot to be desired tbh.

 

I say they have a good chance of qualifying, but I'm not sure if they'll be winning in away games against CSK or KKR lol.

Shafique had a horror game in the field. Both his drops cost Pak big time. And the 52 extras. Pakistan put up a good fight but will rue these things, could have been a win and a fun series decider.

I want both Ashwin and Jadeja, and the three pacers probably Bumrah, Suraj and Mukesh. Not the most inspiring attack for South Africa admittedly, but feel we'll do better than last match atleast lol. Hope we even the score

I think the only spot he can take rn is Iyers and i wouldn't drop Iyer this soon. Unless Rinku becomes a top order bat and replaces Gill, but can understand why the management backs Gill. I think Rinku won't have an opening yet but who knows, sometimes its good to shake things up. You feel Rinku should come in?

Yeah I'd have him I think. Don't know if Pant will come in by then, but there is perhaps still a place for KL in the test side.

SRH have so many stellar overseas options that they could take advantage of an overseas impact based on the match situation, as risky as it may look to start with 3 only inspite of their options

I'd persist with Prasidh, tbh. Perhaps another game to see if he gets his lengths correct. Also, it would be unfair to drop him if Gill still gets backed .

I would see who is doing better between Iyer and KL and pick one. Probably I'd prefer KL but we'll have to see. KL in the top order would mean one of Jaiswal/Gill had a drop off in form which I'd hope not because both could be real greats of the game imo. Or atleast mainstays in the long term future. I would rather if KL has to play it's either as keeper or in Iyers spot,
