Rockstar keeping us in the dark.

Because God forbid they announce a release date and then it gets delayed...You fanboys complain either way. It's either "they don't tell us anything and it's taking to long" or "stupid C* releasing a game with glitches and bugs". Just be happy that there is even a current-gen port(that's all it is) being made.

Fanboys don't complain about rockstar. They would be defending them.

How many f*cking times do I have to tell people that Rockstar is a private company and they don't owe you sh*t? Their deadlines let alone announcement schedule are none of your business.

They aren't keeping you in the dark; it's just your expectations wearing thinner than you expected.

Preach it brother!

I'm used to R*s way of silence(which works) ever since the info drought we had in 2012 before V came out.

I think we can all understand that the development timeline of such a complex and high-performance piece of art like GTAV/GTA0 is long, difficult and uncertain. That's OK -- it's just reality. :/

But what chaps my hide is that the Rockstar marketers are such a lazy bunch of f*cks. They know that every time they drop a little bit of info on us, the whole community goes orgasmic. :^: It does not take much at all to keep us happy. And that's even with us knowing that most of the stuff they publish is misleading and looks / sounds / feels better than the actual game. We still love it. We need it.

So given that the development timeline predictably keeps slipping from weeks to months into years, how f*cking hard could it be to assign one enthusiastic part-time intern in the marketing department to collect a handful of screenshots and a few minutes of video capture, each week, to release to the yearning masses -- no big marketing strategy, no big announcement -- just some nice, new little tidbits to recharge us and trigger paeans of great praise to our god Rockstar?

Is that too much to ask? I think not. :colgate:

There's probably 50 people right here on this forum who would be glad to move to New York to do this job at Rockstar's New York marketing HQ. Hell, I would go.

It's a trick they play on you, the consumer. I do it all the time at work, the thing is to take as long as possible to make you think I'm doing something really special and important when really I'm just reading the internet and dicking around. They probably developed the game on the new systems and downgraded graphics and removed some features and content to release last year on the old systems so they could hump you, the consumer until GTA alpha is released

Yes, they probably had to take out a lot of stuff to make it run on present generation consoles. First they took out all the interiors, and then they took out as many trees as they could before the hills just looked barren, and then they started taking out blades of grass until they got to a minimum 15.0 frames per second for the most complex scenes.

:^: Agreed, it's seems generally like a good personal strategy to make everything look as difficult and heroic as possible, to keep management expectations in check. I also get a fair amount of cyberslacking done, including of course contributing my wisdom to this forum. :p

I think it was well established, back in the dark years waiting for GTAV, that Rockstar's sandbagging was largely based on whiskey and hookers. :rol:

Normally, you'd be correct, but when it comes to release dates/delays fanboys bitch more than anyone else.

Hold on guys, apparently we are all entitled and spoiled because heists won't come out after a year of announcement as well as no next gen news three months after the trailer for it. Lol. It's simple rockstar. If the product isn't ready. Don't advertise it.

R* staying silent is one of the last cool things in this era. WAY too many things are spoiled before we can even enjoy it organically. Example: Some critic posting a review of a movie I didn't even know was made. *drops mic*

Okay here's my opinion. What Rockstar is doing is pretty crafty from a business standpoint. Keeping people ignorant while they release a screenshot & picture have proven to rile the masses up.

However, this isn't right. Rockstar are doing a TERRIBLE job at communicating with their community. It is unnacceptable. Keeping your own fan base in the dark is stupid in the end. If they plan on expanding & improving their online, they need to communicate with their fans better than this. Keeping us in the dark accomplishes nothing. Sure we all set the bar high, but that's because R* keeps their mouth shut. And frankly, I'm tired of it.

Keeping their mouth shut will only go so far. It ain't clever, Rockstar. It really isn't in the end.

Rockstar should fire their entire worthless New York marketing department, and hire the 14 year old girl. Then we would get some updates. :^::colgate:

Preach brotha!! Preach!! I loved that they are not telling us on what is going to happen every time a update that they do happens. Keeps people talking. And yes, they don't owe us sh*t I agree.

I disagree. While I acknowledge that they are a private company and their deadlines are private information, I don't think our expectations are wrong.

Rockstar DOES in fact keep us in the dark. In comparison to other major companies with online gaming communities (Valve, Bungie, etc..) Rockstar is doing a horrendous job at spreading information and communicating with their fan base. Now why would I compare R* to those other companies? Well because R* decided to launch an Online multiplayer game that has intentions of 'expanding' and 'developing'.

My question to Rockstar is, how do you plan to expand your Online world if you keep silent towards your fans? Aren't they the ones who essentially built your company?

Don't get me wrong. This silent technique works well for their single player games because they have time and money to make adjustments to their game. But Online is different. There are still prevalent glitches & bugs found in GTAO that still haven't gotten sorted out. What is Rockstar's response? "Hey let's add more cars & clothes. How about a 50% discount on all contacts." People have been complaining about payouts for a long time. They're just now getting around to it when it could've been handled earlier several patches ago. Do you see where this going? The fans need to be paid attention to. Without that, Rockstar and their stubbornness will be the death of them. They should be reading these forums DAILY. They need to be more involved with the community. Sitting in silence will get them nowhere in the end. Sure it's successful now, but people will lose credibility and patience with Rockstar in the end.

And they do owe us heists. That doesn't make us entitled. They advertised a product and it should be delivered. If it isn't included, that's blatant false advertising and is illegal.
