Disable Phone Camera

It's a annoying feature but would be nice if they added as an option for the 15% of the population that likes the feature, Default to off for the majority that don't.

 

I have no idea why it was added. So far none of the supporters have given a reasonable argument.

To take a pic quicker if there is action happening you dont wanna wait for the phone to lag open then select snapmatic. Its the same as why people are pressing up twice I guess they dont wanna wait for phone lag to access contacts

 

 

Yeah this, but there is two things:

- using the short cut there is still a delay while the phone opens and the camera animation plays out - you'd hope they'd git rid of that as well

- probably a lot more people who double-up to get to contacts quicker (and have done so for almost a year) than people who wanted a quick key for Snapmatic

There are much better ways to fix that than with an annoying short cut. Best way would be these few steps:

1. Remove every delay in the phone. Remove the phone taking an inconsistent amount of seconds after pressing up on the d-pad. Remove the animation when you open the camera. Remove the inconsistent amount of time to wait while a contact picks up the phone. Everything happens the very second you press the button. No call time, no animations.

2. Make the phone customizable. The order of the menu. The order of the contact list. The background and ringtones. Even the brand of the phone. Add them from single player.

 

If you could customize the menu all the shortcut you would need is press up to open the phone then A. You want that to be camera? Put camera in the middle of the menu, want contacts? Make it contacts.

I wish we could sell our phones for this very reason, it's so annoying I'd rather walk half way across the map to my garage than take pictures of the floor every 5 f*cking seconds

OP there is actually a way to do it:

• Pause game
• Gallery
• Delete a snapmatic pic
• Go back to Online - Find new session
• Return to SP via character wheel
• Find online session and Camera will be greyed out LOL

Did they hotfix this nonsense yet or add a way to turn it off. Like they added the auto helmet and auto bp vest on/off switch. Need one for this so I can turn auto phone cam the fvck off where it should be.

Given all the feedback (not just here, but I've spotted on their support forum and heard bitching in-game) I'd expect they'll add a disable option.

However it probably wont be rushed out, maybe 1.17.

It is a curse as people have indicated OP. Just when you think you have stopped opening Snapmatic by mistake, you do it again...I probably still do it every 1/10 times I open the iFruit. Basically it is just another well intentioned but poorly executed feature by R*.

Lets face it, Snapmatic lags all the time anyway and even with the double tap 2- 3s or more is wasted so if you are looking to spontaneously take an Image of something interesting, you will probably miss it anyway.

Luckily I have always pressed up then right so this has not been an issue for me as much as others..At first id always press up up up because of the lag and id always end up down at the internet icon so i switched to save precious milli seconds lol

Press once for phone, twice for camera. After about the third time messing it up you are out of excuses, your fingers are attached to your hands, & you control them. Or is the complaint you have no control over your fingers?

I myself love the addition, the extra few seconds it used to take to pull the camera out used to mean you missed the shot, now you can get it out fast enough to capture it. It really only took a couple timed to learn not to double tap it for the phone. It is also something the players hve been asking for.

 

However, i think they should add an on/off option for the feature for those of you that hate it.

 

 

 

 

i hate it sooo much. everytime i rush to the airport and call for the besra i find myself in the cameraview doing 150 mph and hitting a lamp post or something.

worst part is that you know its happening and you can't help yourself for two seconds.

 

who demanded that? why cant you just hold the button for the cam.

 

as if r* was going through the logfiles and found out that everybody seems to double tap the phone to get to the contacts faster, so they decided to troll us !

I don't know how you guys are still having issues with it, I did it the first 5 minutes when it was first implemented and it never happened again unless I purposely tried it to make sure that feature is still there..

 

Stop tapping the up button, or at least wait an extra half second for the phone to open up before spamming A or X.

But I do agree that R* should add an option to fix that for those that aren't used to it yet.

I don't see a shortcut to the Quick Job option considering that it's on of the most used function in the entire game.

^^^ thats whats really fvcked didnt double tapping up button used to send you directly into a game you were just invited too?? It was a shortcut to get into games your friend/ crew invited you to.

 

So does that not work anymore or does that quick function only work if youve received an invite text??

The only reason why I hated this feature is because, when I open the phone in Online, the first thing I'll do is open contacts (Up-Up-Right-Circle (Asian PS3)).

I think the shortcut should be changed to holding down the D-pad for 2 seconds or something instead.

 

I agree that if they want to add it then it should be something different, but holding down on the d-pad is already taken - character selection.

 

Holding up is "quick accept" for job invites, and holding left or right, whilst not mapped to anything, just doesn't seem right. Definitely a better choice than screwing up the phone for lots of people.

 

No its still possible. Just tap 'up' on the "d-pad" once and then hold it for 2 seconds. This would avoid the clashes of already existing shortcuts.
