Lets Discuss Gun Play in V

i just figured out that you can shot cops in the leg and they will limp or won't get up. why won't pedestrians do that?

I think peds are programmed to escape any danger, disregarding damages on their weak bodies. Cops limp or lay down on thr ground, but die soon after. Maybe the in next gen they ll shoot while sitting or knee on the ground.

Actually it's because pedestrians are in a non-combatitive mode, they'll run away limping if shot once but there's also a chance they might die instantly or bleed on the floor.

Pretty much the majority of us here have played or at least watched a Max Payne 3 video. Being a shooter, the gunplay in this game is the best of every game i have ever played. Gun sounds felt awesomely loud, recoil is nothing but perfect and the wounds and consequences of shots.. they are REAL. One good shot to the chest and youre down, leaving only a bullet mark on your shirt or a gore-y wound. Max Payne mastered gunplay in my humble opinion.

Now lets take a look at V.

Satisfying shooting experience, fluid cover system and extremely fast gunplay. Guns feel effective and precise. It features a great gunplay at all... but.. o would really wanted some damage "max payne style". Sometimes a shot straight trough the heart doesnt kill someone. I agree with it if they wear bulletproof vests, but plain t shirts doesnt protect you from a .45 bullet in the chest. Gun recoil is something i really disliked. Making it too precise helped making combat faster and frenetic, but there is no spraying someone like in IV or Max Payne 3. Red Dead Redemption and MP3 with that gore effect on headshots.. this should be featured in V too. A shot in the cheek only makes a small hole. Bullet sounds are horrible in my opinion. The AK 47 should sound menacing like in MP3 or as loud as a winchester in RDR.

Dont get me wrong, i have greatly enjoyed the fast and chaotic gunplay in V, and i am not even saying that a sandbox game should feature the complex gameplay of a shooter. I am just pointing small features i would love to see improved in V's gameplay, especifically in the shooting mechanics. Use this thread to general discussion about gunplay. Have fun.

The kill effect(white flash across tv screen) and x marker ruins shooting in gtav. We could turn the kill effect and hit marker OFF in Red Dead, but GTAV was made for casual gamers and COD/madden people who need help telling when they "GOT UM!" in 3rd person shooters. So everyone must now play GTAV and all current shooters with annoying hitmarkers and kill indicators.

Honestly gun sounds just depend on people's preference, whereas I shoot quite a bit myself in real life I already prefer V gun sounds (even if some of them are horrible, especially the shotguns) than Max Payne 3 sounds (many of them just sounded random and not like guns at all, especially the Taurus (brazilian Beretta) except when in slo-mo)

The game that excels at small details, is certainly missing some of these details in the gun play. But me to, I love the current system, it's already better and more detailed than most games, but we could still could use this additional layer of detail to make the gun play that much more complete and satisfying.

PS4 and XBO added lots of blood effects and damaging to the bodies. Blood pools and splashes are way better now, more brutal.

Still nothing like RDR or MP3.. These are different games though, but minor things and mechanics could have been implemented in V. I am not complaining, V's gun play feels fluid and real easy to master.

This 'remaster' gave a good boost in the gun play, making it unique and different from other RSTAR games.

the weapons having no recoil makes accuracy rating irrelevant.

People will only go for the gun that has the best fire rate, or maybe best damage.

The right thumbstick in this game has poor sensitivity. Increasing you aiming speed in the options menu helps it a little bit, but its still poor compared to every other modern shooter. It feels as clunky as Perfect Dark Zero, which came out in 2005.

Weapons don't do enough damage, especially the ARs. It takes too many shots to kill somebody. If players staggered while being shot, it would make sense.

I hate cover systems in video games. Why should you be able to hide behind cover, yet see over the cover from safety? It puts the player who has you pinned down at a disadvantage. However, in first person mode it works as it should. They should have just included a crouch button and a lean around corners feature. f*ckin queers of war and its proliferation of bullsh*t cover systems.

The guns do recoil in first person mode when you aim down the sights, they might not recoil a ton but it is noticeable.

Also the cover system in first person while it's good that it only shows what you should see, the control in it is pretty bad so you tend to be better off to just manually take cover.

I pretty much agree with everything said here... The dead zone on the right analog stick in FPV is ridiculous.

I loved the gun play in MP3, still play it from time to time, you could really feel the weight of the Taurus when playing... Although the sound was way off, I could get past it.

I wish guns had more recoil and the reticle grew (a lot) larger over extended periods of 'spraying', making it more inaccurate. As of right now, the shooting is alright, but when you combine it with the complete lack of health, the overall gunplay is very boring, in my opinion. Too much like a fast paced FPS game than a fun third-person game... This doesn't count, but i wish the Complex reticles were the standard 'dot-in-a-cirlce' that past GTA games had. Basically, i wish it was more similar to GTA IV, I love that style (with free-aim). Grip, scope and even silencers would benefit from this style, making the added accuracy these attachments provide more useful.

For liking V very much i sure have lots of complaints about V`s gunplay.

Well the look of the weapons is very good and realistic tho but the sounds...this is really screwed up.

It doesn`t even come near IV`s gun sounds let alone real life`s.

The sound of handguns in V is plain ridicolous. They sound more like some f*cking toys than the real guns.

.50 caliber pistol shot in real life is so loud you`ll be deff for a few minutes if you wouldnt wear ear protection. It`s like a f*cking explosion blast. While in V it sounds like an airsoft pop. And every other handgun as well.

Shotguns also don`t have enough explosion sounds like they do in real life. Or in IV for that matter.. The number of KJ released after a shotgun shell blast is f*cking enormous and the sound is f*cking loud. In V it`s like a firecracker for kids.

Assault rifle sounds are quite ok but they lack of loudness.

SMG`s sounds are pretty cool tho.

MG`s sounds would again be very realistic if they`d be much much louder.

Heavy sniper has the best and most realistic sound of any V`s guns.

However i apreciate the recoil increase for MG`s in new gen V. Those things are really hard to shoot with in real life and without strong arms and experiences you wont hit much.

These should be considered small flaws but not for a GTA game where shooting plays major role. The shootouts aren`t so intense as they used to be in IV due to unapropriate gun sounds.

I would excpect much more in the game that is techicly very advanced. When i hear those silly handgun cracks i`m really disapointed.

Yeah they recoil when aiming down sights fine. In third person mode it doesn't exist, which actually puts the first person player at a disadvantage.

I guess you could say that the third person player is at a disadvantage as well because they don't get the nice zoom effect as FP players do.

For the sake of argument in favor of the existing balance, I had a really nice 1v1 deathmatch in an actual deathmatch playlist. It was pistols only, he had a USP and I assume was using third person because he loved hanging in cover mode. I was in first person and using the Deagle. He had the advantage when we both tried to stand still and shoot eachother down like a duel. I had the advantage when I would move laterally and shoot him while his head poked out from behind cover. I won like 15-13. It was fun.

I like the pistols in this game, just hate the sound and the fact that the Beretta and USP are basically the same.

Well some say even gta 4 has better gunplay than gta5 but to this day, i don't see how it is better than 5's or how 5's being better, only better thing in 5 is bullet time and its still not as good as in max payne games(works better in first person also)
