Well, I only Purchased a PS3 for GTA V as I had missed out on Console gaming while at University...

 

Of course I got the new 500 GB console, why anyone would settle for 12 GB even 8 years ago or whatever is beyond me.

The 12GB slim ps3's were the second last versions that came out, in blue white and red.
good thing they were only 120€ (150-160$)
last versions were also slim but with 500GB and cost around 300€ if im not mistaking

I think they mean the OG 20Gb PS3 that is 12GB after system storage, like the OG XBOX 20GB that only had around 14-16gb of space after system info was applied to the hdd. Lets be real though, if you still have under 20gb of storage on your hdd its time to upgrade. The 4gb Xbox slim was intended to be upgraded because the 4gb was internally installed to the mobo, all you have to do is go buy an hdd when you got enough money. Anyways ill be ready still have around 310gbs left on my jasper

Could be for both, lol if I remember right the OG 20gb PS3 didnt come with a wifi card built in like the 40gb and 60gb cecha01 it was the cheapest you could get it was all black.

At least you don't have to buy a special Sony branded (read: super inflated price) harddrive for your PS3. I have an old Archos AV500 media player/recorder device that came with a 60gb 2.5" harddrive that couldn't be upgraded because Archos put code into the device to stop 3rd party harddrives from being accepted, meaning no upgrades or replacements in the case of drive failure. Bastards. I'll never buy anything of theirs ever again for that underhanded practice.

WTH? i dont even think a game can fit on that the original xbox wasn't initialy for storing games. This is why patches where limited to 4mb

There are 360s with small HDs...and maybe you should take note that the PS4 has sold 3x more than the XBox One

 

 

So basically, for PS3 12GB owners, (I am NOT one of them, Xbox 360/One Master Race), whoever bought one must be feeling pretty stupid for being cheap.

Not be a dick, but I'm pretty sure the Xbox 360 used to come with only 4 GB, making you "master race" statement irrelevant.

 

On a side note, can't believe 12 GB was actually a standard back then.

So, basically 9GB + whatever the file size is for the PS3's OS

I'm surprised models like this are still made. In this day in age even the 500gb the new consoles have are a bit uncomfortable if one plans to go digital. Fine for the average player but little for a power user. Good thing is that it uses a common hardware format. Now a days a 500 gb PC HDD might cost around 50$.

 

Also, is this really a reason for some to console war about? Specially when the generation already passed?

I'm pretty sure my 8 year old xbox 360 has 24 gigs if I'm not mistaken.. I had to move a few games onto portable drives to make space for V haha.

 

Now before ya'll start crying about it, I don't play even close to enough games to need anymore. If it wasn't for having to install V, I'd be fine.

Not a big deal, pretty sure people that bought those consoles are aware of the limitations they're asking for.. pretty sure you can't play more than 2 games on that unless they're all indie.
