Bitching about the contact missions

If you're like me, and you refuse to buy GTA bucks; you know how boring it can be having to grind contact missions to get the things you want in game. The last few updates Rockstar has done everything in their power to make the aquisition of GTA$ more time consuming and tedious.

First, they added the extra cars and the document runner in rooftop rumble, adding to the amount of people you have to kill and time it takes to complete the mission with no additional monetary reward. So I decided to start playing coveted, as it had a better GTA$ per time spent ratio. But lo and behold, they ruined that in the next update; adding more enemies, a terrible position for the crate, and a long ass fly over to LS. Again, for no extra cash... Rooftop rumble once again had the best $/time ratio.

These were both just minor annoyances, the extra enemies could be beaten, runners caught ect.

Update 1.16 made it so if you complete a mission too soon, or if you do it solo you lose a HUGE percentage of the reward for the same amount of work. This punishes players for doing too well in a mission; it encourages missions to be long, drawn out sh*tshows and forces players to grind these terrible missions more . And I think Rockstar wants exactly that.

But why would Rockstar want to punish players who get good at the missions? I think it's to limit the amount of cash players can earn in game to make the stimulus packages more enticing.

Well f*ck you Rockstar! I will NEVER buy your sh*tty fake money! And furthermore I'm never gonna buy another game that has a pay real money for game items system. That was fine for free-to-play, as you didn't have to shell out $60 for a f*cking grindfest. It was either pay the money or deal with the grinding.

Shame on everyone who bought GTA$

TL;DR~ New update severly nerfs cash rewards for missions because Rockstar wants to sell more stimulus packages, sh*tsux

Also, if you're a trooper and are still gonna grind for your GTA$: I reccomend playing coveted

Rooftop rumbles rewards are now terrible, well coveted gives you atleast 14000 with 3 people. The mission itself isn't too hard either, so long as you can snipe and fly.

Because this isn't being discussed, at length and in detail, in several other threads.

The maths suggests that multiple quick plays (4-6 minutes) pays better than one long (15 minutes) one.

Maybe, but with the quicker missions you have to sit through loading screens, menus, and some have those awful end of mission cutscenes.

Coveted isn't 15min btw. More like 10 if you're alright with a sniper..

$60000 per hour doing random contact missions without grinding or taking 15 minutes a mission. This is not my definition of "nerfed".

I was making $200000 per hour just doing Rooftop rumble. I got really good at it, learned where to spawn, and how to kill everyone and drop the document quickly. The longest part of the mission for me was waiting for my team mates to deliver the document to Martin. (It would have been faster to do it myself, but I stayed back to start the lobby again and because I hate the cutscenes at the end.)

Just buy a cash card, seriously it's only a tenner for a milly and saves you soooo much time without that grinding nonsense.

I used to make about $150k an hour on average because I didn't just play Rooftop Rumble over and over. That includes selling a Baller. Now I make about the same but I don't even have to take any care choosing what mission to play, so it's great; with this simple change Rockstar have effectively opened up about 80-90 missions which were pretty much useless; it's worth playing the long ones because they pay more and it's worth playing the low level ones because the pay isn't stupidly mean.

Also, I stopped joining random missions when Rockstar moved the spawn points to wherever you were located; too much risk of spawning in Paleto Bay for Rooftop Rumble. Now there's a greater variety of missions being played so it's not just RR, and if you do spawn on the other side of the map, the drive to get there adds to the payout. So it's rejuvenated my interest in playing random missions with strangers :)

That's my point, I shouldn't have to put up with the grinding nonsense. Being able to buy money is basiclly cheating, exept rockstar makes a profit. I might as well get some hacker to give me a bit of cash.

Balancing missions was going to cut down some mission payouts you cant expect them to increase some missions 10 fold whilst leaving others just as good.

As someone said just wait until the 4 min mark which is only like an extra 60 seconds than what RR normally takes and then finish it.

Coverted pays 20k RR 13.5k one takes 10 mins then other 4.

If you don't want to "Grind" Start it up and go afk for like 12 mins then you are not really grinding.

It's still grinding, its just grinding with the added bonus of waiting around with my thumb up my ass for a few extra grand. I feel like the game should be rewarding people for doing the missions faster, not punishing them.

They do, since the faster you complete a mission, the quicker you can start another.

I agree with you, you shouldn't have to grind and having principles is good. However, that million dollar card saves you 10 hours grinding and means you can really enjoy your time doing what you want to do. GTAO has to make money and unfortunately we are stuck with the cash card system, which has had an adverse effect on game play. It's probably too late for any alternative though, so it's either grinding, glitching or cash cards.

But they already made their $60. If GTA:O was free I could understand, but its not.

Shark cards are ridiculously overpriced. To get the stuff from the last update ONLY you'd have to spend around 5-6m GTA$.

Converted to real money that's 75 dollars (give or take). Nearly as much as what you payed for the game. For a couple of vehicles to play around with.

They are taking a huge dump on you and the whole community with this and everyone is like; Thank you, Rockstar! You are the best Rockstar!

^^ you don't need to buy everything though do you?

@Kazic You have already paid for it, but I think the plan is for GTAO to outlast V and continue to grow with the GTA series. They could probably fund this from sales of V and still make a good profit, but they want more. That's capitalism though, companies will always try to make as much as they can get away with and if nobody bought a shark card they'll probably shut it down.

Due to the fact they keep making it harder and harder, I refuse to grind. I money glitch as I haven't got the time to grind for money, and just like you I refuse to spend my money on virtual money. That sh*t is way too expensive.

People pay for cash cards because it's not free for them to spend almost a year so far updating the game and adding new things. The choice is either a) cash cards b) paid DLC c) a monthly fee to play GTA. Cash cards are the only option that allows you to play GTA:O for free with updates.

Obviously not. :)

But anyone who bought a couple items and vehicles from each update, payed with shark cards, have in doing so most likely payed for the game a second time.

Except when the next gen versions come out the ps3/360 versions will probably die off. I wish nobody bought a shark card and they left the hacker money in. Freeroam is so great when you don't have to worry about cash. And I have everything I want, but friends will often ask me to help them get cash, and this update makes it so I have to grind longer to get the same amount.

Sure, if you're just doing it for fun. I play these missions with the purpose of making as much money as I can in as little time possible to get the things I want for freeroam.

I suppose you have a point. Still, I don't think they should be making it MORE time consuming for people who can't afford cash cards, or who would prefer to get in game rewards through actual gameplay.

Diamonds are for Trevor (which is a short mission, mind you) is a hella lot better than Coveted.

Also, what about survivals? Don't start the "but ill lose so much ammo :(:(:( " bullsh*t, you can't spend more than 10k AT MAX if you're a good player. If you said that you waste ammo too much in survivals, then I highly suggest going to the Shooting Range at Ammo-Nation before starting.

Here's the thing about this game. If you want to be able to afford the stuff from past and/or future updates, you don't have time to play around in free roam.

Well, if you buy shark cards you do. Otherwise you are pretty much stuck grinding missions or any of the other less rewarding game modes continuously.

Now, If all the different game modes including contact missions we're equally viable in terms of making GTA$ as well as being fun and challenging, a lot less people would resort to glitching and cheating money.

To balance it out even more they could also make free roam itself a more viable place and option for making money.
