Gnocchi Flip Flops
The only rule I hate is the one that two of my stupid teachers set where we have these dumb f*cking bathroom passes for each 6 weeks. And we only get three passes for the 6 weeks by them. News flash, teachers: This is f*cking High School, it isn't Middle School anymore. My sophomore and freshman year didn't have any teachers that did that, so I find it awfully funny that two of my dumbass junior teachers are doing that. RoadRunner71
In my High School nobody gives a sh*t about the rules. Once I was in a sports class and it was a theory lesson and we had to use the computers to research about energy systems. But half of the class was playing Soldier Of Fortune 2 against each other and the teacher kept saying "get off the games" but they didn't give a sh*t about what the teacher was saying so kept playing all the way to the end of the lesson. Hahaha, so we used to do in our IT class and basically any other time we use the hs computers. We installed Counter Strike Source and spend the classes playing multiplayer matches in LAN. In my HS, they used to give some warnings that as soon as they reached a certain amount, they’d take more severe actions against the student they were given to, such as suspensions, etc. If I remember correctly, parents had to sign them. So what I remember about them is people simply not giving a f*ck and breaking them as soon as they got out from the principal’s office. It could be said that either the students and many of the teachers cared too much about anything. ArcadeWilliamz
na89340qv0n34b09q340
There were two that really got to me. The first was mandatory 36 hours of school service (per student enrolled), which is fair enough since it was a charter school and they can ask of you whatever they want, but 36 hours per every one of the eight-thousand or so enrolled in a small K-12 school adds up to a huge waiting list for volunteering positions, and to get any work was a big issue. Until my last year there they allowed parents to donate supplies and stuff to make up for the hours, but that was eventually dropped, and so I had to make friends with an administrator to have any chance at graduating that year. The other one was detention and eventual in-school suspension for being late to school a certain amount of times. If the whole point of punishing truancy is so that we're in class, why should the punishment be to take us out of class? This one got me a few times since I lived a mile away and had to bike across train tracks and a couple busy intersections to get there four out of five days. Alexander
-In my high school we weren't allowed to go to the bathroom except during the break time. -We were not allowed to stay inside the classroom during the break. -Cellphones were prohibited. -Not a rule exactly, but I got so many warnings 'cause I talk too much during class. F*ck them. So many rules in HS, I'm glad it's over. Melech
Kiffster
A Yr12 was caught selling cocaine on school property. Repercussions- two week external suspension. That would probably have resulted in a permanent suspension in my school, and if the police knew about it, they would have raided the school, arresting anyone with drugs in their possession. A Yr10 burned a 40-foot penis in the rugby pitch with weedkiller. Repercussions- none. And because rugby was more important than anything else, THAT would have resulted in you getting killed by the headmaster himself. The rugby pitch was off limits to everyone. Shane_Dbns
I went to an all boys high school with pretty strict rules. - hair always had to be short. If your hair was too long (started to grow over your ears, eyebrows etc), teachers had the right to grab a pair of scissors and start cutting. - also, you were not allowed to cut your hair too short. There were actually a couple of guys I knew of who were banned from school for a couple of weeks or so for having too short hair. - you were not allowed to run near the headmasters' office. - during winter, whether you were cold or not, you had to wear your full winter uniform every morning. Not wearing your jacket during morning assembly resulted in detention. I once forgot my jacket at home, but I had my school jersey on which I thought would be fine. Nope... Detention!! - speaking of detention, I once got detention for not attending school on athletics day. I refused to go to detention, so as a result I received 6 more detentions. I didn't sit through those either and nothing happened after that. I beat the system mwahahaha!! - when any female teacher (or any woman for that matter) walked into the classroom, you had to stand up. - a cap was part of the full school uniform, but you were not allowed to actually wear the damn thing. No hats! I had exactly the same rules as you. Wearing full uniform during winter in the mornings was the worst since it can be really hot sometimes in Durban. I also got in trouble a lot because I didn't like to shave my beard lol Did you also have to say "Goodmorning Sir" when greeting a matric student? Zondar
All these rules seem fair enough to me, well apart from the one on one with a priest. Children must know their place, otherwise the little bastards will just take the piss.
Kiffster
Did you also have to say "Goodmorning Sir" when greeting a matric student?Something along those lines yeah, but only when we were in grade 8. It was part of our initiation, so we had to. Same rules applied when we were in matric though hehe. We were forced to do a lot of silly stuff that first year, but it was fun (mostly). Also, facial hair was totally against the rules in my school. You were forced to go shave if you had even a little bit of stubble, and your sideburns were not allowed to exceed a certain length. SouthLand
Welcome to the Public High School system in Spain where; -Chairs where thrown to other students before the teacher came to class - On morning breaks, a lot of people went to the WC to smoke weed, hash, do cocaine... -Students sold drugs to other students. -All guys carried an illegal switchblade knife. In Spain it's ilegal if you carry out on public a knife with a blade bigger than 11cm, students carried knifes with blades up to 20cm and a lot of them bough Automatic knives (Those where you press a button and the blade pops out very fast-Illegal in Spain but most of the students bought them in neighboring Andorra) -Girls having sex with other students and a few getting pregnant... -Teachers getting bullied and Teachers bulling kids. School Rules my ass. I was educated in the f*cking jungle where everyday has hell. AND i am not joking. EDIT: I just made a quick statistic and I have to admit that out of 40 kids that where in my class, less than 10% went to college. The rest ended up being low life criminals, junkies, prostitutes or working at McDonald's... And i am not kidding. Alex Wesker
In Year 8, my school had a new headmistress who used to date the son of one of the Chuckle Brothers--which kind of shot her to fame within my school and everyone was thoroughly excited for her to arrive. When she did, on the first day of school she came in with a school rule that you had to wear black dress shoes so you'd look formal and appropriate to learn. That day, at least 150-200 children were sent home for not wearing appropriate shoes and because of this, Year 9 and 10 decided to protest and there was a massive egg fight which lasted from 9:00am to 10:30am--quite a few teachers got soaked and the police had to be called in (#NoRagrets ). Then she brought in another rule where everyone's bags had to be searched before entering the premises, and I had to walk all around the back of the school to get here, where I found a massive queue. They'd search if you had your right equipment. Pretty dumb. Then we had "tinkle-cards", which actually were called that (Sounds like a joke, I know) and when you needed to go to the bathroom in-between lessons, they'd take them off you and put them in the bin--you had ONE per week; which to me is an absolute joke and ridiculous. Most of the time however Year 11 ended up selling old ones from the bins so you could reuse them more than once Eventually she left four months later. Woohoo! She brought some pretty darn stupid rules to my school. I hated her a lot; everyone did actually.
RoadRunner71
I've studied all my life in public schools here in Spain and I've never seen that sh*t. People smoked joints in the main gate and didn't practically had troubles, same with being stoned in class, at least that I remember. They ended up putting cameras in the hallways so people stopped smoking in the bathrooms though. Some people smoked in the classroom windows and often even went up to the dormer. My main complain about it would be that it is too politcized, at least in the Basque Country and that many teachers were terrible at teaching, especially worrying in the last two non-obligatory, yet most important, years. Doc Rikowski
There are public schools in Italy that have similar problems to the ones in Spain described by Southland but they're not representative of the whole public school system. Overall in Italy public high schools grant you a better level of education than the private ones which basically give you good notes in exchange of a yearly fee. In fact the rich kid goes to a private school when he can't get good notes in the public one. Private high schools in Italy are basically for the rich underachievers. Same goes for colleges and universities. The best ones are public. No doubt about that. I'm sure in Spain the situation is similar. I'm happy to be the product of a very good public educational system. I guess the differences with the American system are huge but if the public schools in the US suck it certainly has nothing to do with the fact they are public. Special Members
Back in middle school it was pretty lame that you couldn't drink soda or eat anything unhealthy in the school building, so you had to eat it in the store (Most people didn't give a f*ck though). Luckily, high school doesn't have that sh*tty rule. They even allow students to smoke in a small shack just 10 meters away from the main school entrance. Piggsy pls
-My high school has a mandatory scanning process, you can't enter the school without being scanned. Only applies to the students. -No electronics, including phones. If you are caught trying to sneak one in during scanning, it'll be confiscated and your parents have to pick it up. The real bullsh*t thing about this is that if you bring a phone to school and don't know how to sneak it in, you have to put it in a phone truck just outside the school for a dollar. Luckily though, people have found easy ways to sneak them in, and once you successfully make it past scanning, none of the teachers will really care if they see you with it, unless you're using it obnoxoiusly in class. -Bathroom rule: Can't use it during the first or last 10 minutes of class, and during certain periods. Most teachers realize how stupid this is though, and will let you use it when you want. -My school technically has a uniform policy, but it's not enforced at all. Vercetti42
You have to copy down whatever answer to a question is in the textbook on-to a note-book. I mean seriously, what is the use of copying down that long answer again when I can easily find it in my text-book? Waste of time.
