Online won't connect to servers/ Files won't download (PS3)

Before I posted this I in fact did a lot of research on the issue and a few people have had the same problem but haven't come back with a way to fix it nor has anyone else who's tried to help.

I talked with my Internet Provider yesterday and they talked me through changing my NAT from Moderate to Open which turned out to not be the problem (which Rockstar kept insisting it was even tho I told them I have no problems with playing Black Ops 2, Ghosts or Battlefield 4 on PS3 & my 360). I even tried hooking my PS3 up to the modem via Ethernet but that wasn't the problem either. Before anyone says anything about Reboot (please stfu about that) or re install (which I did 3 times yesterday and once this morning) and still Online does not work.

I've been playing Online since it was released last year and never had this problem up until the recent update and I have to say it's frustrating.

I thought about reformatting my PS3 even tho I don't want to and I hope that if I do it'll solve this problem. This friday I plan on purchasing GTA V for 360 because playing story mode just isn't cutting it hahaha and I'm a fiene who needs his fix ASAP! & I'm praying that I don't have any problems with that cause If I do I'll hit my girlfriend (joking), she'd KO my ass!

So pleeeeeeeease... someone help a fellow GTA fan out.

Same boat as you man, every other game i have works fine online but I havent had one clean gta online session since the either beach bum update or the one right after that can't remember exactly.

Before that I never had one issue, even at launch

Best thing you can do is have a friend come over with their PS3 and version of GTA Online. Have them hooked up to your modem/router and see if they are able to play GTA Online without any issues.

If they can then you know the issue is with the installation, patch or saved game files of GTA V and so you can proceed to the next step which is, doing a full reset of your PS3 system.

 

Yes, I know how much that sucks. But it sucks less if you backup the saved game files.

 

Before doing a reset you could try hooking up your system to a different modem/router to see if that helps. Borrow one from a friend or relative.

I don't know how it works in the US but if you can buy a modem only to return it the day after (money back) then this is sometimes worth doing.

Considering the other games work fine this doesn't seem likely to be the cause, however.

Thanks for the response guys, I'm going to barrow my mom's modem today and try that, if it fails then a full reset of my ps3 will happen.

I'll let you know how that turns out.

I never tried using a different modem or someone else's PS3 or took my ps3 to their house but about an hour ago for the hell of it I cleaned the disk cause there was a few smudges and Online just magically begin to work. Who knows if that's what really needed to be done or the problem was fixed for us people who couldn't get online but I'm happy now haha.

It's funny, because the solution is often something so simple it manages to slip under everyone's radar haha. I'm glad it worked out for you.
