Online chat?

So i've been playing online since it launched and i have never once heard a single person talk on a mic in a lobby, i have it all set as open but not a single voice has entered my ears. I see all these youtube videos with people griefing in lobbys and randoms talking, am i missing something i should have enabled?

Are you talking about when your on the mic? If so make sure your chat volume is up, check that your mic isn't muted

Have you tested your microphone on another console to see if the problem does not come from your microphone?

You don't need a mic. You can hear people right through your TV if your mic isn't connected.

I get this problem too, My chat is set to everyone so it can't be that and aurely you shouldn't need a mic to hear them.

 

Now I'm not saying I want to hear someone blast Rick Astley or some other crap down the mic but sometimes I feel like listening to what kind of idiocy is said over the mic .

People have microphones but don't talk. Once one or two people start a simple conversation, more and more players will join into the mix.

 

You'd be surprised at how many actually do have the ability to talk, but choose not to and wait for someone else to say something. Try inviting an entire lobby into one party and you'll see exactly what I mean.

 

Everything you say is heard loud and clear even if noone responds.

 

Every lobby needs an icebreaker for people to start talking, and ironically trolls are just the type to bring everyone together.
