I think RDR's their best game even including all GTA's but what do you consider the best

Manhunt?

Max Payne?

LA Noire?

Midnight Club LA, why is this even a question?

Because not everyone is masturbating to cars all day.

My choice would be Max Payne 3, with Red Dead Redemption as a close second.

And not everyone masturbating to generic mediocre western.

Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition Remix is the best.

Yeah, too busy masturbating to vinyl editors, well-made cities and fun multiplayer. Edited by Guest

Red Dead Redemption. Not only is it the best R* game, but it's also the best game of all time.

Red Dead Redemption. Max Payne 3 is one of the worst games they've made in recent times.

I choose Red Dead Redemption. This game has been the pinnacle of the best they've done so far. You want a good story with interesting and memorable characters and dialogue? you go it. You want a big, geographically varied and atmospheric open world filled with distinct landscapes and architectures? you got it. You want gameplay fun and different activities to do in this world? you go it. You want satisfying shooting mechanics and nice death animations? you go it. You want to compete with others online in a simple yet varied multiplayer mode? you got it.

No, as I can see some people are masturbating to generic racing game 3.

Hey look, I can also apply a blanket statement to an awesome game!

Anyway, I'd have to say RDR. To put it one way, it's a game worth of 'Knights of Cydonia' to be playing in the background.

I liked bully, and I know it's old but it felt fairly small and constrained, so I wouldn't be able to put it that high on my list. I like RDR for how open it is.

How can a western game even be generic - the genre hardly even existed in gaming up to RDR and even now.

For me it's tied between Bully and the original Manhunt. Manhunt 2 had some ghastly kills but it just wasn't as solid as the original, bit rough around the edges.

Red Dead Redemption

The world had EVERYTHING! And unlike GTA V, overly-hyped marketing and exploitation of the product didn't ruin that.

I actually looked at Red Dead in the trailers pretty cynically. "Hey, look, Grand Theft Horse."

But of course, it was that, and 6,000 other things amazingly crafted.

One of the most powerful game stories of all time, excellently written and amazing voice acting. Great graphics technically and artistically. Beautiful licensed and self-made soundtrack. The world was huge and surprisingly diverse (awesome job on that Texas/Mexico transition). Gunplay was solid as f*ck. They took the limited arsenal of period weapons and made you feel like you had a lot of choices. Side activities were things you wanted to do, and yielded nice rewards. (I can't think of any other games that got me to pick as many flowers as Red Dead.) It had style, its own identity, and it wasn't afraid to take risks. The world felt alive, colorful, and yet believable as ever. Multiplayer was very well-constructed and a blast with a decent community. It took itself seriously enough. DLC was limited (Undead Nightmare was a masterpiece, taking the zombie genre with dignity) and it kept me entertained for hours. Focus on making a coherent multiplayer experience didn't miserably detract from the singleplayer experience (f*cking GTA V) and the game's hundreds of hours of possibilities more than made up for its price. I love Manhunt and Max Payne, but once you blow through the ten-hour campaigns you aren't left with a whole lot.

Red Dead is not only I think the greatest Rockstar game, I think it's one of the greatest games of all time.

Glad to see all my outlaw brethren. Red Dead Redemption could easily be the game of the generation and the GOAT.

Now lets all ride into the sunset with our white broncos.
