Muggers can take more money?

Currently playing a session. I see a message at bottom about some player getting mugged for 9.3k....What's the max, because muggers didn't take much. I may actually have to bank my money which sounds good to me imo. I like risk.

In the changelog thread (I think it was at least) was a pic showing a mugger taking 10k from a player. At the moment that seems to be the most they can take from you

Bank your money people. Mugging is a thing now.

Yup.

Today I saw a level 3 sitting in a corner, paused while in sneak mode. I took that opportunity to rob him of his pocket change.

...I only got $300. AKA -$700 for me.

It was pretty funny, though.

Today in a session a mugger stole exactly $10,000 from someone, so that's probably the max amount.

People that go idle without going into passive mode or entering their apartments first are the most likely targets. All you have to do to them is stand close, call the mugger, let the mugger mug him, kill the mugger, and then kill the player. If he has thousands of dollars in un-banked cash you can get 10,500 this way (10K from the mugger and 500 from the player).

Moral of the story? Don't go AFC (away from controller) in GTA Online

It should've been this way in the first place. Now up it to $25k max and up bounties up $25k max. $10k is ok. I mean if I have a mil, I'm not gonna trip to being mugged. What's the recharge time on mugging and how does it work exactly? I'd get close to a player, go off map, and then kill mugger.

I see somebody that looks idle. Gonna try to mug em.

It's like anywhere from 5 to 8 minutes for the recharge time. I can't remember for sure. In the meantime....500 bucks a pop on anyone who is idle.

It worked. Mugger took $10k. I went off Radar. Guy didn't know what hit him as I walked casually.

Black Terminator

Thank god I always store my money away fast after missions. Good luck trying to mug a man that has no cash on him! :die:

I got robbed for 4k by a mugger sent by a jet griefer in the middle of spawn killing me out in the open grass land. It all started because he crashed into my buzzard while trying to cannon me and I a put a heavy sniper through him when we both respawned on the ground. I played for that after he got a new lazer :p. I got my money back from the mugger at least in between strafing runs.

Not A Nice Person

Got 5 kills pretending to be idle and seeing idiots call muggers on me and just stand there.

It seems like the max is 10k, but the maximum depends on the rank of the player, or at least I think I read that.

I have mugged at least 5 people every time I play since October. I don't care about the $... I care that you get stabbed in the gut.

The amount taken is relevant to how much the player is carrying and what level they are. A level 120 carrying $20,000 will lose $10,000 unless they kill the mugger and reclaim their cash. A level 5 carrying $20,000 because he hasn't learned how to bank from his phone and can't locate and ATM, he will, be mugged for only a few hundred dollars. Some experimentation is required to figure out the exact level to money carried to mugger ratio.

They increased the amount you'd lose so that you'd go broke faster and have to buy cash cards...

(inb4 someone else said it...)

So mugger is basically useless since everyone banks cash via phone....

Stupid idea to bank cash from phone IMO. Yeah they'll be people waiting outside ATMs but with a max of 16 players, there are only so many that can be covered. There are ATMs scattered throughout the entire city.

They don't all do this every time.

I'm looking forward to my next idler, instead of running them down with fire trucks, I shall mug and run.
