Paul723
The only thing I hate about CJ was that he was so successful, owned a garage at San Fierro, had a casino, and became the new manager of a famous rapper and after all of that, he still let Sweet talk him into reverting back to that gangbanging bullsh*t. That's what I don't like about CJ. He doesn't stand up for himself. He should've told Sweet to take care of the hood his damn self and walked away. That's what I would've did. inkoalawetrust

latigreblue
Well look at it this way, some guy from a middle class or rich community makes it big. He expects that when he returns home, the community will do for him. When he was growing up, he thought of his riches and his fame. He can be as selfish as he wants and tell his those still living there to take care of his old 'hood while he goes off to live his life in opulence. Trying to give back or help his community has never had to be part of his mindset. The fact is 'giving back to the community' is an actual thing. It's why you see so many celebrities especially from impoverished communities going back to establish foundations and programs. This is clouded in GTA:SA by this being a crime based game. 4nsmiley and inkoalawetrust
Boyz2Society
You know what I find ironic? How Sweet's always rebuking CJ for not doing anything for the hood when he hasn't done sh*t since he got out of jail. It's funny how he always whines about his hood being torn apart when he doesn't even do anything about it himself, and he's suppose to be the leader. 4nsmiley and inkoalawetrust
latigreblue
Worked to keep hood intact after riot. Got so overwhelmed trying to keep the yay from the homies that he almost succumbed to it himself. Worked with brother to run rival gangs out of nearby 'hoods. Worked to find out where former childhood friend's secret hideout was. But hey, don't let the actual story stop you. inkoalawetrust and 4nsmiley
Ridd
Could Franklin perhaps be seen as kind of what would have happened if CJ had chosen the wealth over the family? FMMZ
What I hate of CJ is that he do anything the others say... "Simon says jump, and CJ jump"... It's annoying, it's like "Zero, says that I have to kill people with this RC mini plane, ok, I wouldn't say nothing, let's do it", the problem with CJ is that he doesn't say no when its needed. HeroBrineR007
Why hate CJ? Hating CJ is the same as hating Rockstar. Who is the creator of All GTA Games? Who is the father off all characters? Who made Woozie a good person and Leone Salvatore a bad one? One easy answer: Rockstar Ltd.
latigreblue
Could Franklin perhaps be seen as kind of what would have happened if CJ had chosen the wealth over the family? Living alone with nothing to spend his money on, no real friends? I've always felt that Franklin was Rockstar trying to appease the fans who felt that CJ ought to have turned his back on his family. I think RS' mission was to fix the problems that those who hated CJ complained about. Of course, what they got was a dull character with very little personality. Franklin has the politically correct attitude towards gangbanging - I mean, he's so over it. Also, unlike CJ who's close to his family, Franklin has one aunt and their relationship is terrible. 4nsmiley

Osho
Reading some of the reasons here literally makes me laugh out, and it's hard to make any sense into my f*cking brains. Good for laughs, though. OT: I honestly could have been one who hates CJ, too, but when I realise what's the game is all about, and mainly, what's exactly the purpose behind being so crazy and over the top, enjoyable and totally fun ( same goes for the characters and their interactions ), then, I don't know, I just like it more, and have developed a fond memory of all those things which CJ easily makes it possible for me, to try, and have just a great time, provided, I'm willing to not get too analytical about these moments, and/or consider them a "bad" thing, if at all, since it's a f*cking "video game"! Lamar- the only missions you get from him end up being set ups and its more reasonable then stealing a 80,000,000$ and not getting a cent back in return. what missions do you get from strech? Haynes - franklin was just helping micheal he was never expected to get paid Weston didn't pay you but you killed him at the end. you did get paid from that heist from Madrazo. latigreblue
@Fresh, you seem to be trying to pull off a bit of a double standard. You can smack it up, flip it, rub it down, it does not change the fact that they did not get paid either. That was the point. Oh yeah and the Madrazo mission I was thinking of was Caida Libre. The fact that he was born in GS is not an excuse to condescend back to the hood while you're already affluent. That's like someone going back to middle school just because he misses the fun he had despite the fact that he graduated from high school. It's futile. Face it. latigreblue
You know what, at the end of the day, it comes down to what the stereotype means to you. If your real-life experience of hoods and gang bangers consists of precautionary tales, some after-school specials and scary headlines on the news then yeah, Sweet's decision not to leave the hood with his brother would seem like something unusual. But to me he's just another criminal in a game about criminals from a series about criminality. I'll never understand why, in this rogue's gallery, CJ and Sweet are the only ones singled out to find Jesus at the end while the rest are free to carry on with their dastardly deeds and early graves. Actually, I do understand why. lil weasel, inkoalawetrust and 4nsmiley

GTA_Sharpshooter
I love CJ.Great character, people should realize GTA SA is a game and sometimes games aren't realistic/supposed to be real The only thing i disliked is that you own a Triad Casino in LV,being your enemies casino getting broke, wins nothing (I mean like the Airport you have a week payout, the Four Dragons Don't) Or Sweet easily taking him back to the Groove (Altough i liked it)
