Weird how a planned meet with specifically-made games and particular voting categories doesn't get the same attention as a "drift meet NOW!" from the Find A Meetup section.

Feedback:

The imminent "death" of meets on the Xbox 360 is becoming more and more apparent as time goes on. I was worried that I would have no one show up to a meet I wasn't 100% fond of. I initially wanted to host this on the 5th as hosting a meet on a holiday is never a good idea; family plans and the sort can occur which happened to some of the players. I doubt those that missed out actually celebrate the 4th of July but a vacation is a vacation no matter what the celebration is, right? Despite not celebrating the 4th of July myself, I love the whole "U.S.A! U.S.A!" chant and the idea of being larger than life (no, it's not a jab at the fatness of America, you judgmental prick). With the chant in mind, I set out and made games the night that Crow posted a post saying that I should make a 4th of July themed meet. I'm not sure if he was expecting me to go that extra mile!

That worrying thought of no-shows was wiped away as we had a steady 7-9 players throughout the night (which is, in my mind, the perfect amount of players for a meet) and those players made me smile. An hour before the meet I contemplated of cancelling due to the low number of players (2-3 players originally signed up) but I never cancel a meet no matter the number of players. A meet is a meet no matter what. I'm so glad I stuck by that rule because I had a Christmas in July; just pure fun! We had only one American in the meet so it wasn't a "true" celebration of the 4th of July. The other players, from Canada to the UK, were there to show off their cars, play some games and have a good time. Tonight was a testament that no matter what the theme/celebration is people will show up to enjoy it, regardless if it affects them or not.

The meet was lovely but without those present it would've been impossible to enjoy. I hope players understand that without them hosts are nothing. You can be a guy that's hosting his very first meet or a guy who's doing his 4th-5th game night; both those guys are the same without those showing up. It's the group that the host can gather that makes him who he is. So thank you all to those that showed up and while there was some unexplained killings (that were accidents, as I was told), no one retaliated. We had 2-3 players with no mics but they were all cool and understanding. I cannot thank you guys enough for your patience. My motto of "take care of the meet and the meet will take care of you" resonated through every player tonight. Just amazing.

This was a very successful meet despite my initial reluctance to host. Those games that I made in a night (original or tweaked from previous unused games) are so good that two out of three are already fan favorites. I'm so glad to add those two games to my "successful games" pile and not to the "damnit, need to fix this" pile. Scores for the games will be posted along the pictures below as well as my own feedback for each game. Please feel free to criticize anything that took place tonight so that I can fix the issue/make it better/keep it the way it is. I urge anyone, no matter their joined date, how long they've been into meets or even how much/little they know me, to not be shy about telling it to me straight - I want feedback! Again, thank you all. Let's hope the next 4th of July meet will be on the Xbox One with each of you joining me!

Forever Drive-By:

Two teams were provided with white and black Guardians, respectively. Players would pair up in groups of two, one a driver and the other a sniper that would stand anywhere on the Guardian. Players were instructed to shoot the snipers only (not the drivers/trucks) and any team left alive would win the round.

Round 1: White team
Round 2: White team
Round 3: White team

Special Round Where The Whole Team Is On One Truck: Black Team

Winning Team (Overall): White Team

Most Kills (Overall): Crow

Feedback:

I don't think this game can be tweaked...but then again I don't think this game is that great. It was made as a filler; a failed idea that I just can't make work. I'm not expecting this one to get high praise from anyone.

*fun fact: The title of the game comes from the location of the game which takes place on the highway; an endless loop.*

Exploseball:

Just like baseball, one player was pitcher while the other players were up to bat. One at a time, players would try to hit grenades, Molotov's, and even a Grenade Launcher towards the later rounds. Those viewing/not up to bat were literally on the edge of their seat as they were in the radius of the blast! The most deadly sport, no doubt! The one who managed to hit the most balls would be given the chance to drive The Liberator - hit a ramp and crush the other players standing in the field (or as I called it; "the pit").

1 = no hit/hit depending on which chart
- = a hit on the No Hit chart

A "Best Pitcher" was going to be awarded but with the small group we had I had elected Meatloaf to be the only pitcher. Props to him for being a great sport and a great pitcher! I had told the lobby about a photoshoot as a prize for "best pitcher". Meatloaf has been given the prize by default - the pictures I take of any vehicle of his choice will be posted here in my thread as well as in the "Show Your Vehicle" thread in the gameplay section of the forum. Congrats!

Feedback:

This was the crowd favorite and no doubt one that will return in Game Night and Best Of Game Night (if that happens one day). People loved this one despite the stupid concept and the fact they kept dying over and over. How to improve? I have no clue. Further testing would be required...who to test it on, though? I'm sure I can find another group of test rats that will enjoy it as much as these ones did. Let's check out the mayhem!

Before I could get a picture of the field, someone had to make sure the balls were indeed explosive and someone else had to be standing at the plate:

Players quickly understood the concept and were now trying to figure out the timing:


But then Molotov's entered the fray and screwed the whole timing thing off:

That first shot made everyone break down laughing - that grenade was fast and all that was left was a cloud of smoke!


We honestly stopped the game for a solid minute as we just couldn't stop laughing:


Some were in the finals as they figured out the timing on that deadly weapon:


But not all were victorious...


PoisonedGas won by one point which is a big deal! Here he is claiming his prize:

I asked the players to pick up the grenades and use it on the truck before being crushed. Meatloaf didn't get the concept of "wait for the truck to arrive":


We retried and got this amazing moment:


We took a quick recess with some classic American music such as Turkey In The Straw and Weird Al's "Trigger Happy" - some dancing along:


It had different effects on Crow, though...

Some players left while others joined - the meet became more and more relaxed and we saw the theme in the cars slip a little, not that I minded when beauties like this showed up:


Others, though, had just discovered the 64 marker Crayola box:


Parking up for the next game, they had no clue it was going to be something new but quite familiar...

Mudballs:

Balls In My Box is no question one of the most popular games that we've played as I take a real world concept (soccer/futball) and put it in GTA. Sure, Forza helped bring that idea to reality as they paired up with Top Gear to include the real-world counterpart. Mudballs is my attempt at another American favorite sport which is football. So how is Mudballs different from Balls In My Box? Both games have two teams of different colors pushing a ball (small vehicle) across a field but the goal area is different. While one is a box, the other is a ramp which means that getting in that box can prevent the opposite team of scoring while that ramp makes you fall out of the arena, making you scramble for the starting ramp to get back into the game! It's, in my opinion, a unique twist to the concept of "big truck pushes little car".

It was initially set to "first to 3 points wins" but both teams wanted a rematch!

First Match:
1 point red
1 point red
1 point red
= red team wins

Rematch:
1 point red
1 point red
1 point technically red (Cargobob + Cart was buggy so I gave it to red as they scored on their screen)
= red team wins

Feedback:

This can easily be played right after Balls In My Box. I can also make another game in the format of these two games to make a "Box" Night or something. Before going further, I would like to apologize to the group. I made this game in deathmatch so we could hear one another but it didn't work that way. I realized after the game that I had set it as a team deathmatch, thus making custom teams impossible due to lack of communication. My fault - will keep this in mind for the future. The walls also need to be higher as the cart would fly over it. Other than that the rest works perfectly!

The first shot is not of the field but of the action! Straight into it!


While there are many orgy jokes that I can make...


I won't make them as they just wouldn't all fit in here...


And I'm sure stuffing you with those would just hurt your head...


So let's just enjoy a bunch of big objects pounding a smaller white object:

This is the only virtual sport that's actually fun to watch:

There was just nothing to stop them from pushing the whole team out!

With the meet officially over but with most players still around and eager (and drunk), I decided to recycle the lobby into an offroad/chill lobby:

The journey was calming yet exciting, strangely:


People could drive whatever they wanted and it made the lobby way more fun when there's no restrictions:


But most stuck to good ol' pick-up trucks:

Gutted I missed this one, have missed very few of ticks meets. But of the ones I have I always sit there sulking the next day when looking at the pics.

 

The base ball looks amazing fun ... Hats of to you on that one.

 

I to share your concern about the death of Xbox 360 meets. Not only Xbox 360 but All the platforms. Can anything be done ? I'm not sure, but I will try.

 

Maybe a move back to the lobby's and meet up section might work. Or at least maybe a thread with ticks agenda on there ? Let people know what's going on in events. I think it's clear that the traffic to events is vastly reduced compared to the old format. It would be nice to attract a new buck of regulars (with out getting rid of the old ones)

I've thought of every solution possible - I just can't make a thread in the Find A Meetup while I have a thread in the Event section (not allowed duplicates/multiple threads). The rules aren't quite clear, I even sent a message to a mod weeks ago asking what qualifies for an event and what qualifies as a meetup and I got no reply. I always saw Find A Meetup as one-night stands while Event were more like relationships but there's a few relationship threads in the one-night stand section. The only thing I can think of doing is asking for my thread to be moved to Find A Meetup but the amount of useless activity which bumps threads up will make my own thread slip off the first page (and who checks the 2nd page?). I fear there's nothing we can do, mate. You'd think that meets would get more recognition from the forum staff when R* themselves acknowledges us.

Took a quick look at the Event Guidelines (link below) and it says the following:

 

"Find a Lobby & Meetups is a sub-forum designed for quick games in GTA V's Online.

This is different from the events section, because it is not host to structured organized events. Instead it's focus is on quick, day to day, hour to hour action.

It is host to people looking to trade cars, do car meets, find quick games/lobbies to level up, look for some quick random classic GTA mayhem, and anything not long-term scheduled."

 

It's giving all those quick examples like "quick games/lobbies, quick random classic GTA mayhem" and then they throw in car meets so we all know what those meets are like; quick and unorganized. Seems we're in the right section but people just don't want to wait a few days for something organized. I'm now wondering if there's a host in the Find A Meetup that organizes his meet at an Event level.

Meatloaf was quick to cash in that photoshoot. It was a bit annoying to try and direct Meatloaf as I had to repeat myself but the pictures paid off and that Sultan was just perfect to work with! Here's some shots:

Good call. Forgot the update comes out tomorrow/today. Vehicles changed, route now planned out to accommodate that.

Also, It's Fate's birthday. Bash is like saying "Birthday Party" but in a British way because Fate loves tea and crumpets. So there's no bash here.

Guys, the birthday bash is taking place in 3 hours as of this post. Remember that you need the following:

-something a family member would wear to a birthday party (perfumed aunt/dirty uncle,etc.)
-a muscle car, modern or classic
-something to hit the sand dunes in
-a motorcycle, chopper or sports
-anything at the end of the event

There were some issues last night with the Content Creator with the Sanchez event that Yello held. Hopefully the servers play nice and let us play some old and new games.

Hey guys, again; sorry for moving the meet. I don't think I've ever moved a meet and if I did it was, as in this case, an emergency. So if you've read above I mention "family matter" as the reason - I was just in a hurry to post here and let anyone interested in my friends list (those I typically message) about the fate of the meet (no pun intended). So yeah...I'm not sure if this event will take place...or any other more.

I've spent the last...3-4 hours (I'm too exhausted to count) in the hospital. A friend of mine from high school got in a pretty bad accident. First off, it's a bit weird that I would get called. I haven't spoken to the guy in like 3 years. I show up and he's got a leg and an arm in a cast and he's breathing through a tube. Some people there that I knew, others I didn't, most were old high school friends/peeps. Apparently he was riding his bicycle and got hit by a car, was told the bike frame was just bent sideways. It just really hit me how life can be put on the balance, you know?

So the birthday bash (happy birthday, fate!) will be post-pone to an unknown date. The games will be recycled, the theme will be adjusted and depending how this whole situation with my friend goes...well, it might be my last meet. I mean, I'm not using this as an excuse because I had thought of holding my last Xbox 360 meet at some point and move over to the X1 some time this year...but it seems like a good "marker" to make one last meet. Experience the good games, get everyone together (and I mean EVERYONE - meaning those X1 losers have to show up!). I'll let you guys know when I post a date. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. I really hate pushing meets, more so outright cancelling them. I just don't feel up to par to host.

I'll try to keep my agenda up to date so anyone itching for a meet can view my agenda. Thank you.

Tick, hope you mate is on the bend. Life's a bitch sometimes. A guy i work with who i've known for 10 years died last week after tripping down some stairs, he banged his head and died where he fell.

 

A Tick meet to end all 360 Tick meets would get me along. You probably noticed i've put sanchez events on hold. even though there were issues last weekend at my meet and i'm sure everyone who turned up enjoyed themsleves but when you put hours and hours of work in to think up, design, create and test an event and only a handfull turn up; it's not great.
That said, i will support the 360 until the 'regular' guys all move to the X1.

tick I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, I hope that he pulls through he sounds like he has a lot of support. I see this on a daily basis and we are really quite fragile when it comes down to things. But we also have an amazing ability to recover especially with the right medical conditions.

 

I will be present for the last meet whenever this is. And look forward to your transfer to the Xbox 1. I understand fully were both you and cactus are coming from with the meets. I have tried to keep my own Xbox 360 meets going, and will continue to do do, while there is a demand. Although I have often though over the last month especially going out in a high might be a better option.
