some cars that have a "Sport Mode or S Mode". Which will allow you can switch gears. I believe its called Semi-Automatic because you can drive Auto or Manual in the same vehicle

 

2014 Grand Cherokees have that option and others

 

so why would u ever want to use the shifter. automatic is easier right???

I also own a automatic car (DSG) but sometimes i like to shift by myself, so i have more control over my car. Like getting more RPM in some gears etc. And yes automatic is easier.

there actually pretty awesome i drove the SRT version burnt a lot of rubber in 1st gear and its much easier then the actual "stick shift" transmission. Im a stick shift noob lol i can't seem to ever get past 2nd gear but yeah ill always go for the easy/cheat/for dumbasses "semi automatic" transmission any day.

I do love manual cars though, my first car was a manual. But a automatic is better for DD.

semi transmission huge difference from driving stick shift. yes auto is always easier and i could be very wrong about this but, the reason for sport mode options, which is optional (meaning you don't have to buy a 2014 vehicle with it if you don't want it), is to increase your RPM (meaning car speed), so you can drive faster and feel like a badass lol. I mean when you hear the words "sport" and "mode" what do you think of?

I love manual gear changing.

But please tell me, which buttons would allow you to shift up and down?

Only ones left when you're driving are left and right on the dpad, and that would be awkward to change gears :-/.

Wouldn't a manual transmission suck during missions?

I totally want to over-burden myself while I'm driving and shooting. Having to shift gears while firing a gun would be a real improvement on gameplay.

That's like adding a washer and dryer to the Sims 3. Great. Another mundane task.

I'm not getting all the hate for manual transmission, there's plenty of cars in the game that have a clutch pedal, it wouldn't hurt to simply add an animation where your car would manually shift gears for those cars only.

yeah i think they should re organize the control presets because some are pointless. when i just happen to turn a corner and cops are chasing me and someone calls my "in-game" phone (like lester or samsung (whatever his name is lol)) its ridicules that i have to quit out the phone to turn and by that time ill be 50ft in the air lol.

bottom line hell yeah would be awesome to see a shift function or the same concept of how you can take auto-aim off you can take automatic transmission off

hell, this is not about manual shifting with the controller, its about the animation from the character in the car.

 

manual cars are selfexplainable, they need to show the player shifting alot with his right hand fummeling around in the middle.

 

automatic cars would have to shift for the reverse gear and when getting in the car (get out of neutral)

 

semi automatic would also work but when its at the steering wheel it would only show a thumb moving 4 cm forward and back again.

 

problem with all that is: when i shoot out of the car, shouldnt i get stuck in the gear i am in since i cant use my right hand for shifting?

Well most of the cars in the game are Manual transmission that's what I'm saying for.

They are all automatic transmission

 

So by that logic, every car in every game has automatic transmission when you set driving assists to automatic transmission. Continuing on with that half assed way of thinking, every car magically gets better traction when traction control is set on maximum.

Of course they won't include that.
