OP, if you couldn't afford to buy the Hipster stuff and then make enough money to buy the Independence Day stuff then you're playing the game wrong.

 

That stuff was available for a long time too. Even doing it all solo would have worked.

 

Also, you not buying free content with in-game money isn't hurting them at all.

 

It means they continue on as they were and you lack a lot of cool stuff given to you for free. Your idea only hurts you. You using in-game money to buy free content only benefits you. Not them.
