Murray Bunyan
The radio stations were always fantastic in the GTA games, the songs, the advertisements and the witty and hilarious remarks from the disc-jockeys, all made the games even more fun. Let's touch on the ads, shall we? The ads were at times weird and at times extremely amusing. The Ingalls' advertisement was found to be in the weird camp, at least for me. Since I didn't want to be left out of the loop, what exactly was it about? I understood that she writes books and the radio commercial was probably dedicated to the more political people that play GTA. Here's the transcript (shamelessly stolen from GameFAQs): "Woman: What's this I found under your bed? The only Engels you're going to bereading is Laura Ingalls Wilder.Man: If you think your child might be a red? Here are some warning signs:They read complicated literature and have concern for their fellow man. They even like to share. Tell your kids that if someone approaches themwith pamphlets about recycling, an invitation to a labour rally or showany doubts about the fairness of our system then they should find ateacher or a policeman immediately." Any elucidation on this would be appreciated.
Tyla
Wasn't it a shot at Socialism/Friedrich Engels to do with Cold War scaremongering? The whole sharing/well read Commie thing... it's another shot at Cold War propaganda/Communism vs Capitalism. Haven't read into Laura Ingalls Wilder but I'd assume she's an American author at least. Murray Bunyan
So it's all politics? One of those things that escape me. I don't blame the subject, I never even tried getting in to it.
universetwisters
Yeah, it's got to do with politics. I know the chick in the ad mentions "Engles", which is German for "Angel". But that aside, Friedrich Engels was one of the co-writers of the Marxist Theory (better today known as Marxism) with Karl Marx, who wrote the Communist Manifesto, which presents the basis of modern Communism.
