1. An update is an update -- it fixes bugs and brings new content. No need to be picky about whether someone calls the Flight School Update downloadable content or simply "an update"; either usage is correct either way.

 

2. Due to recent leaks arising of the Hydra, Besra, Miljet and Coquette2 all being linked to a Flight School update (http://gtaforums.com/topic/724385-115tunables/), National Aviation Day being this Tuesday, the folks at the Rockstar Newswire pushing the livestream event back from this Tuesday to this Monday, and us not seeing any DLC for a month and a half now, this DLC (update, whatever) releasing Tuesday is very, very plausible.

 

3. That's why I bolded the "for story mode" part of that sentence. The missions are for story mode, the planes and the new Coquette are for both modes (see the leaked multiplayer prices for those vehicles in funmw2's thread linked above).

Had anyone even stopped to consider the fact that even IF a Flight School was given to GTAO, that it would be nothing other than the simple carry over process that we just saw in the Independence Day Update? You can ride amusement park rides in single player and now we can ride them in multiplayer. Could Flight school (if included, which I'm not even convinced it will) be nothing more than more single player content now available online, with no further purpose other than to max out flying stats in more efficient manner?

If they were cheap and were actually worth it, then yeah. But if R* were to start releasing payable microtransaction DLC, they'd have to be very regular and really worth it. The Hipster and the Business update are the only real value ones so far. And I still wouldn't pay more than $5 for either of them.

Maybe you missed the notion of GTA being noob-friendly. The old games are completely different because the newer ones have multiplayer.

If there was no skill involved, we wouldn't have K/D ratios and leaderboards. Not that they really matter because it only takes god mode users and leaderboard hackers to mess that aspect up for millions of players.

Hey once R* puts out an Online content that is superior than what is available and the said content is real life $$$ only, then in less than a second after releasing it, people will start moaning and crying and bombing R* with insults. No these jets won`t be Pay2Win. Yes they might be better than the Laser, but you can unlock it just by playing or grinding. I believe that the only content that will be paid is a Singleplayer DLC or an addition of another island, like Liberty City for example. All these Online updates will be free. You're missing one key piece. You don't have to have training to buy those and you can buy them with earned in game money.

 

They are speculating that the flight lessons required to unlock the ability to purchase the 2 aircraft will cost real money. You will still be able to use earned money to buy them but you may have to spend real money to unlock the ability to buy them, hence the paywall.

Why would Rockstar make it like this? Do you have any IDEA the kind of backlash they would face if they did that? I could see them making that DLC a paid one, but they wouldn't do what your suggesting.
