lol.

I'm not even sure I could tolerate GTA 1's nauseating camera zoom nowadays to finish it.

What's up with all the VCS love all of a sudden? It's like the forums' III became Vice City a year ago, and then Vice City became Vice City Stories. :p

Everything San Andreas and up was easier because the game mechanics made them easier. Crouching made the gunfights easy enough that you didn't have to be constantly moving around like a jerk to avoid getting shot, because you could roll, take a few shots from the crouching position, and roll again behind a wall or something. Then when the cover system came along that made the fights too easy, because you could just wait around behind cover for a good shot. They're both a lot more fun to play than the gun fights in the games before them though, even if they're less challenging.

I started playing LCS for the first time about a week ago, and I can't imagine finishing it without cheats. Shooting is so difficult, and they just keep throwing guys at you, and everything's so expensive! :*(

Also don't play Chinatown Wars first. Save it for right after a really difficult one, and then play it. The game's quick, easy, and really fun, and it's a totally different experience, so seeing it in contrast to one of the more hardcore games should be interesting. :)

As far as "shooting/gun fights" go, the difference between controlling the aiming through a controller and the mouse also adds into the difficulty of the games, esp. on the older generation of consoles.

That's just my view, and I could be wrong.

Some might not experience any major issue and have gotten quite adapt.

But, in my case, GTA III, VC, SA did gain a lot of appeal by playing them on PC later.

I've done all the missions of GTA III, GTA VC, GTA SA, GTA LCS, GTA VCS, GTA IV, GTA TBoGT, GTA TLAD and GTA V, the easiest w/o cheats was GTA V :)

GTA VCS is the hardest GTA Game I played (on PSP)

During my first play-through I played it without cheats until the mission "From Zero To Hero" (I didn't understood how to pass the bridge back in the day :) ).

Then, during my second from "Jive Drive" to the end (that mission is such a pain in the ass on PSP).

And for my third play-through I finished it without cheats. :D

So yeah, VCS is the only GTA that really pissed me off. I still remember some missions that almost made me threw my PSP out of the window...

This is true, though. I already said III is the hardest GTA game, and I am sticking to that. But VCS is probably the next hardest for me. I play it on my PS3 with the PS2 disc, but man...I had trouble with Unfriendly Competition, Tune In, Turn On, Bug Out, and one of the Robbery Empire Missions...

The game where I had to keep reloading and retrying a mission more than any other game is VCS, but GTA III overall is difficult due to careful planning while going for 100%

Also, I don't think just playing the story counts. VCS, for instance only counts as 20% of the entire game. LCS only counts as 40% of the entire game, etc...Going for 100% takes a lot more effort, and if you're into vehicle collecting with special properties, it's even harder, especially trying to not have any vehicles disappear from the garages upon 100% Completion.

In my Conquest for from gta 3 to gta 4 storyline without cheats completion

I finished

Gta 3 on android

Gta vc on android

Gta 4 on xbox

Gta vcs psp

I also finished gta San Andreas on android however I used ammo health and infinite weapon cheat so I may retry that

Im currently replaying gta advance on my psp using a emulator currently on asuka missions 25/41 missions completed

I only began it yesterday after completing gta vcs

After gta advance

Im gonna try

Gta lcs

Gra cw

Maybe gta San Andreas again

But my hardest gta without cheats must be either Chinatown wars or lcs that is the reason im playing them last because im dreading the fact that I may not finish them

GTa 3 Was Easy without cheats

I'd say San Andreas, I was always tempted to put a Weapon Cheat in etc. I never realized before how easy it was to get money by doing Fire Truck missions etc.

As someone who's never managed to get past more than 20 missions in any of the 3D era games (yeah yeah, I suck. Go ahead and laugh at me) I choose III as being the toughest.

There are a couple reasons for this.

One, cars are so absurdly weak in that game. Of course, that only seems to apply to the car you're driving, enemy cars can take much more damage. A couple bullets and your engine will be in flames. The fact that Pay N' Sprays aren't marked on the map is another factor. This leads to irritation when I've got the cops on my ass and can't remember where the nearest Pay N' Spray is.

Vice City definitely seems like the easiest of the PS2 trilogy though. I might actually be able to beat that one.

Or just load up a new save with 350 dollars that you start out with. Go to Inside Track Betting, and bet on the last horse and go all in. If you win, great. If you lose, reload, and try again. I got 5 billion dollars in SA within 30 minutes real life time from the very beginning of the game. Then I didn't care how much money I'd waste on going to Ammunation to buy guns and ammo to the max and full body armor, etc...

Yeah, if you aren't very good, I suggest trying VC or V. These are the two easiest games in the entire 3D and HD Era combined. TLaD and TBoGT are cake, too, but those aren't "full" games.

III was pretty hard. I remember trying to kill Salvotre (no idea on how to spell his name) and eventually I just spawned a tank and ran him over along with the rest of his mafia f*ck buddies.

For me, it's GTA San Andreas. Those Zero missions are why.

This. "Supply Lines..." is one of the hardest missions in the game for SA. Zero Missions count for 100%, but they aren't needed to finish the story.

But yeah, I found an "easier" way to complete Supply Lines... for Zero, but even the "easier" method, I bearly passed it. When I got back to the roof top to Zero, I literally had zero fuel left, I was anticipating seeing the MISSION FAILED words, but somehow I passed it. I was literally less than 1 second away from it saying Missions Failed, LOL

I've already stated twice, and this my third time stating III is the hardest for me, but the story isn't hard, imo. What makes III hard is the Gangs and if you don't plan carefully on what to do before doing something else. For instance, I usually do Paramedics Level 12 immediately upon starting a new game. If you try doing this in Portland once the Leones hate you, it's a 99% chance you'll NEVER pass it. Also, some of the Rampages were f*cking crazy tedious and rediculously hard, too. But yeah, as for the story, I never have problems with the story in any GTA games, it's usually a handful of the side things.

For me its obviously GTA IV. Deal ending was the pain in the ass. Especially 'A Revenger's Tragedy'. The part where you have to jump to Jacob's Annihilator from the Speeder while you cannot gain full speed during the stormy weather. And also the chasing sequence and gunfight. After all, all this was for Roman's soul to rest in peace by Niko.

The first one and London, I guess. Not because of too much difficulty by design, but due to the imprefect controls and having to complete a level in one sitting.

Honestly? The top down games.

I've never completed one of them without the use of cheats.

The hardest has to be GTA:VCS, the gameplay was broken on some missions and I had to resort to cheating to complete it for the first time until I found out how to get the minigun.

San Andreas sold way more copies. Cj has more fans than Vic. You are the f*cking minority here. Everyone knows SA>VCS.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what I call a fanboy.

I guess the hardest game to beat is the first one, since you can't even save until finishing every mission in the city.

GTA III is very challenging, also.

Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Did you ever wonder...

...why we had to run for shelter when the promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath a clear blue sky?

The only GTA games I have ever found hard were GTA 3 and Vice City, and that's only because I got stuck on two or three missions for like a week. Being 12 back then didn't help, I can play those missions now and enforce a strategy making them easier.

But of course, difficulty is all down to the individual. IMO Vice City is the hardest GTA to complete without cheats. I always struggle when you have to beat that guy in a race so he'll join your gang. Sniping the Cubans from a rooftop before they wipe out the Haitians made me pull out my hair. In the final mission I have to keep running up and down the stairs to pick up health because Sonny Foreli isn't human. There was that one for Diaz where you had to take his "fastest" boat to collect drugs before a rival gang, and then another when you go in a chopper with Lance and shoot gang members on rooftops.

Thinking about it, for me at least, no game comes close to Vice City for difficulty, and I've completed every GTA that's on PS1, PS2 and PS3.

GTA 3 was pretty hard, especially that Espresso 2 Go mission solely because there's no menu map or any other way to detect the stands unless you've got a guide.
